SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Dec 7th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Dec 07, 2017 3:49 am

Good morning,

Remembering Pearl Harbor today. It was before my time, but my brothers remember it very well. I've been fortunate enough to be able to visit the memorial and look down on the Arizona, which is completely submerged but in shallow water. It's a very somber place and people have a tendency to whisper when speaking while visiting there.

Yesterday I did it! I finished the binding on Drew's Christmas quilt and the tree skirt for Alec. So today we're going to do some more delivering. Alec works at Red Robin restaurant so we're going to go to supper there and and hand him his gift. On the way home, we'll stop at Drew's house and drop off his. And no cooking for me!! We all win!

So now that all the Christmas sewing is done, it's ugly time! My sewing room is a disaster, the kitchen counter is a tangle of cookbooks, recipes, and lists, and the carpets are pretty hairy. We won't talk about the laundry basket until tomorrow.

TINA, you are really making tracks with those quilts for the kids! And two parties to go to! Enjoy!! We buy our chicken at Costco and it comes already packaged - usually two to a small package and there are 6 small packages sold together. all I have to do is separate them and freeze. But I got a "double-yolker" this week, a bonus breast! (that sounded kinda weird, didn't it.)

CHICKIE - I'm so glad you are done with the comfort quilt. I still feel guilty for not helping with it. But look at all the practice you got! I bet you're a champion quilter on your machine now! Love the name Zipper for a chicken! Cuz when they're attacking they are really zipping around the yard! lol! I will mail you my chix parm! lol!

JANA - Bill hates nuts, too. In his food. He likes them all by themselves, though. So I usually leave them out of things. and I saw some of the "trouble" you got into a few days ago. ;o) you are a sweetie! And won't you love having a toidy right close to your sewing machine!!

BECKY - haha! Cagey Gramma! And salad always comes before the burger and fried, right??

BECCA - you know, walnuts is one of the super foods, packed with super nutrients. I tried telling DH that and he still does't want them in his fudge or his cookies. Sigh. So he has them 'on the side'.

So, it can't be said often enough - I don't have to cook tonite! Even though my DGS is almost through culinary school, he won't be cooking either. Not tonite. He'll be serving us. Which means we actually get to see him a little bit while he's working! Good thing his restaurant is an hour away, otherwise I'd be eating there a lot more frequently than 2 or 3 times a year!

What's for your supper tonite?

Good morning! I’ve never been to Hawaii, but I can imagine the awe and somberness of the Arizona memorial. I felt the same way when I saw the Vietnam Wall. My mom went west to work in the shipyards as a clerk when war broke out. My dad was a Merchant Marine, and somehow they met and married. Here I am!

Mary—you’ve been so busy! My house is a disaster, too. I’ve been working on the comfort quilt and ignoring most everything else. DH decided to add some more cedar to the walls in the kitchen yesterday, so… really big messes in there now!!! It continues today, I’m sure. Have a fun day!

I think I’ve finished quilting, so I need to clip threads and make everything nice. I’ll bind it and wash it, label it and mail it. Maybe not all today. I’m on dog duty at DS3’s, so at least 3 trips there and take care of Ava as well. I learned a lot with the quilting. I’m not ready to do another quilt that big for quite awhile. I think I’ll stick to practicing on smaller pieces.

It was 18 degrees with a “real feel” of 8 when I fed the calves. I do love my flannel lined jeans!

Jana—you and Tina are so sweet to step in and be nice when someone doesn’t play fair! How wonderful to have a potty close to your batt cave! Next you will be adding a mini fridge and microwave…

Becca—hope you are feeling better! Try to stay in and stay warm!

Becky—my DH would probably eat burgers every night. At least I might get him to put a sliver of tomato and small leaf of lettuce on it. I think he’s allergic to anything veggie… except French fries.

Irish—hope you’ve been busy with family and not forgetting to eat! We miss you!!!

Tina—you are knocking out those darling quilts so quickly! They will love, love, love them!!!

Dinner here tonight… I have some rice leftover from last evening. I’m thinking ham fried rice might be on the menu . It sounds quick and easy and not too messy.

Bon appétit!

Hello everyone, sun did come out for us.Makes me happy to see the sunshine. And feel warmer too.
Pearl Harbor had to be so devastating to our Country & all who served.Im very Appreciative of all who were there.

Maryz Glad you get an off day in the Kitchen.Always a good thing & to have DGS serve you is special so enjoy.Thats a good idea to deliver the packages yourself.
We eat walnuts for our Health .I have a half gallon in the frig now.Eat a nandful a day.

Chickie Your jeans sounds wonderful.I wear fleece when it’s real cold.I am staying inside as I got all the errands done yesterday.

DH is on the couch today so sure he won’t want much to eat.He feels like the croup & congestion is trying to get him down.Mine is much better today but still not all gone.I am quilting by hand so I can sit after I finish uglies. Will probably be soup for us both today, veggie Or tomato if he chooses. Becca

Everyone stay warm & hope you make it to the table.Thinking of you Irish & sending sunshine your way.Hugs for a brighter day.

Good morning!

OK - the Batt Cave is almost fully loaded - there already is a mini fridge down tbere, a big TV, DVD player, now the water closet room, and yes, we are putting a small microwave on top of the mini fridge. There is a nice long sofa and two recliners as well. All useful with my sewing machines and the railroad.

We are cold here too. Somewhere around 16. But I am staying in!

Dinner - well I must cook, last night was whatever you can find. Tonight might be a pot roast.

Oooh, need to scoot, I am helping getting our Bishop's suits mended,

Enjoy,
Jana

Good early afternoon from a very cold, breezy, whirling white stuff, SW.Pa...Not a nice summery day that I dream about.....

Mary, I can imagine how excited you are to have DGS serve you, what an honor....Although our Nicky doesn't do much cooking any more, it's always a thrill when he does...He did say, if he couldn't get up here for Christmas, he'd just round up the guys and cook them Christmas dinner or go and volunteer at a shelter....Enjoy your dinner, can't wait to hear what you have....

Becca, thank you so much for the good wishes and the sunshine...Although, right now, Mr. Sun is taking a break...More and more, those nasty white things are flying around but I sure hope they don't decide to stay....Sorry to hear DH is on the couch, but soup is a sure picker upper....Stay warm my friend....

Chickie, not to worry, I'm eating, maybe too much! That 6 degrees is way, way too cold...Florida might be looking better and better, lol...You mentioning your flannel lines jeans brings back memories of me lining the kids jeans when they were little (just a few years ago)....Enjoy your day, stay warm....

Jana, and you also, stay warm...I guess we can expect these temps, it is winter, darn......

Yesterday, I didn't even turn on the puter...My sister picked me up early and she, DIL and I went with her to her doctor's appointment...Her hands and wrists are badly crippled up and she really has been having problems...She's already had surgery on both wrists and we're afraid there is nothing else they can do...But, once again, they gave her a shot and she's to go back next month...But, along with the doctor, we HAD to stop at a Chinese Buffet and then the Omaha steak store and it was a good thing she had her big van, we loaded that baby! Along with all my kids getting steak stuff, she also got for her's...The poor man who waited on us was a bit happy to see us leave the store...
Today, I'm off to the bank, Library, Yankee Candle store and then visit with Jim...Then to my sister's for dinner and of course Bingo...I have to stay home tomorrow and clean up this place...I did put up a small 6ft. tree and just not sure if I'll keep it up...Little Baby Girl has decided she likes to re-do...After years of not touching, now she's into redecorating.....

Oh well, better scoot....

You all have a great day, stay warm.....

Happy eating................

Hello ladies,
We are having tacos tonight. Should be fast and easy, I hope! Some will eat it in taco form, and a couple of us as a taco salad.
Funny you should say that about your DH and his burger Miriam. I have one that eats salad real well, one that takes one smidge of lettuce and calls it a salad, and one that will put a few leaves on her burger and call it good....
I think I would enjoy Miss Mary's dinner. I don't think I have ever eaten at a Red Robin restaurant.
Enjoy whatever you eat....Becky
