SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Dec 4th
Good morning!
We're 36* here! I think the lowest we've been so far. brrrrr!! But the good news is we are drying out and will be mostly sunny all week long! More good news is the Seahawks game last night! I was dreading meeting those Philadelphia Eagles whose record is almost undefeated. But not any more!! :O) !!
We had a busy weekend with a Christmas party, a dinner party at friends, breakfast with our grandboys (where I unloaded a huge box of excess Christmas decorations!), finished another quilt and almost finishing another (just assembling swap blocks), and then the football game to crown our list of good times. Today is binding a quilt, walking the neighbor's dog (they are out of town), starting a tree skirt for DGS, Alec, donate blood, and a stop at Home Depot (near where the bloodmobile parks) for our last Christmas gift of some tools for Alec. I love busy days almost as much as I love quiet ones!
TINA - I hope your "Done" party includes a bubble bath, candles, a cup of chamomile tea, a good book, and nothing and no one else! No one deserves it more than you!
BECCA - are you feeling better yet? Glad to hear the twins are on the mend. I bet mom and dad are exhausted! Hope little Boaz is doing better, too. Bill HAS been cranking out the quilts, but most of them were tops that have been sitting and waiting until he had time and inclination. With the computerized quilting machine it goes pretty quickly. Hopefully he can get one more done before he runs out of steam, this one for our older DGS, Drew. I put it together yesterday from Christmas swap blocks from last year.
CHICKIE - sounds like you had purrfect walking weather yesterday! and I know you have such a pretty walking route, too! Through your pastures or down your gravel lane. Good dog route! Did you make your reuben sandwiches or buy them? Bill loves them. Me, not so much. How old are Blondie and Annie now? are you feeding them twice a day? do they still get bottles?
IRISH - ;o) !!!
I was all set to make chicken parm yesterday and Bill said all he wanted was a grilled cheese sandwich. OK by me! So chicken parm for tonite instead. I think I'll get it all ready this afternoon and just pop it into the oven tonite. Salad and maybe green beans or peas to finish off our meal. I have more garlic bread in the freezer, too.
Yum! What's for dinner?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Dec 4th
Good morning! We were surprised to find 65 degrees outside this morning after the wind blew all night. Never fear, tomorrow will NOT be (much, if any) above freezing! We are to have rain much of the day starting soon. It’s so overcast, it feels like night.
Mary—you certainly had a busy weekend and are in for a busy day today! Congratulations on more quilt finishes!!!
Tina—Hope it all went smoothly yesterday, and if not that at least you are ready for the move! Hope you got some rest time for yourself, too!
Becky--you are one busy lady, too! I know you have a lot going on--good to hear you are getting to quilt!
Jana--congratulations on another little girl! I like all the names. Musical talent sure passed me by. I tried and blew out a lot of ears with the screeching on my violin--five years and I never got past the middle of Book One. Finally gave up as a lost cause. Of course, I'd rather have been reading or playing baseball than practicing...
The Hooligans and I walked yesterday—I was in short sleeves by the time we came home! Except for some wind, it was perfect. I’m so not complaining—I know what’s coming! You are right, I enjoy walking through the pasture and visiting with “the girls”, along the gravel roads (must watch my step to avoid a sprained ankle in addition to my knee), and down the trail to Choc and Maggie’s. Today we just have to see Ava. We may be going between rain showers from the tone of the forecast.
We bought sandwiches from Subway on Saturday. I got the “regular” Reuben sandwiches and a bunch of add-ons in a separate container—lettuce, tomato, spinach, pickles—all the goodies! I do like my greens on my sandwiches, even if it’s not traditional! DH isn’t a fan, so I frequently order them when I’m out.
Today I’ll be working on the comfort quilt. I think I may be taking out some stitches today. I wish I had more confidence and was better at quilting. I wanted to do it for some practice and learning… I’m learning allright—learning that I’m less than good at this!!!
Blondie and Annie—I’m not really sure how old they are… sometime around the beginning of summer or late June/early July maybe. They came over to me in late August when school started. I’m leaving them on bottles twice a day rather than trying the buckets. Pocket Lint and Blackie were pretty rough on me when I was getting them to learn the buckets and when they saw me coming with them. I was knocked down a few times. Blondie and Annie are pretty well behaved. I call them, and they come running and go (usually) right into their pen. I’m staying on the outside and feeding them through the wire panels. It’s much easier on me. I figure the cows have “bottles” so I won’t do the buckets. Annie could be weaned, but Blondie is still quite a bit smaller. It wouldn’t do to feed just one!!! I hate to separate them, as they hang together all the time. I think my next bag of milk replacer that I will start giving one bottle a day… evening. They are eating more feed, and that’s a good sign to start weaning.
Dinner tonight… cue up your “Eeeeeuuuweee!” And hold your noses! I’m making liver and onions. Haven’t had it in ages, and I had a piece of liver in the freezer and a bag of onions on the counter… I’ll probably bake a sweet potato and make a salad.
Now… off to my sewing room until DH returns from coffee for brunch. We have a trip to town today. We can stop and walk Ava on the way, and I’ll be back to quilting soon.

Good Morning to the beginning of the week! We are in a cold snap right now, will have to cover the little lemon tree and several other sensitive plants for several nights with protective covers. No rain in the forecast, just morning fog.
Mary, busy should be your middle name! I can't believe all the things you seem to accomplish in a day. This weekend was a run to Fresno to look at quartzite for the next reno (DH's bathroom) and get knobs for the cabinets that are going into the sun room. Contractor wants to get started in January. Then put up the Christmas tree. Today I have to start decorating it. DH likes the tree filled up so there goes about 1/2 a day.
I have been working on finishing the dual table runners for my SIL so I can get them in the mail. I posted photos in the the Photo area. As I said before I plan to make 5 more, each a dual monthly theme. We will see how far I get. I have 3 quilts at the longarmer's, so I will be really busy sewing binding when they come back. I decided to work on these smaller projects for awhile before I start another quilt.
This week is quiet, no appts or firm plans. Outdoors is pretty much in hibernation, as well as cold, so I am hoping I can just sew, sew, sew. DH may change that if he gets cabin fever.
Dinner is pork chops marinated in a special rub DH made, green beans and couscous. Hope you all have a wonderful week, prayers for those in need.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Dec 4th
Good afternoon from a sunny, delightful, (not 65) but nice, SW. Pa....And as Chickie said, nasties are coming later this week.....
Mary, Well girlfriend, you know it's all your fault for me running in reverse today but "WHAT A GAME"! It's a good thing I had an appointment this morning or I might still be in my PJs....I'll bet the boys were thrilled with the visit and that box of decorations...A friend just told me, she makes up little bags of her extra stuff and when she has family visiting, she makes sure everyone takes a bag when they leave...Said she has her bags ready for Christmas and it's sure making a difference in her downsizing...I just might have to try it this year..That is, if I ever get into that closet with all that stuff.....
Chickie, we have the sun but not the real warm temps, no short sleeves here....But, what a pleasure not to have to pull out that heavy coat, which I refuse to wear! I've seen those Reubens advertised at Subway but haven't tried them yet...Jim was never a fan of Subway but he'd often say, when we were out, aren't you going to stop at your place? Can't go wrong with the price....And, Jim would love your dinner...Not often would I make liver and onions but when I did, he really enjoyed it, me not so much.....
Becca, know you're out there somewhere...Hoping and praying you're feeling better.....
Jana, so happy about the new baby girl...And I do agree with you about the name...Hopefully, one of these days, we'll have a new baby...With all the talk about babies, I'm feeling left out, lol....
Today is kind of a mixed up day....Had my appointment and then came home but really can't get into anything because I'm leaving to visit with Jim...They changed his room and I'm just hoping it hasn't mixed him up too much...His ex room mate was leaving and they needed the room for a female so Jim was moved across the hall...Sometimes I'm not sure about their reasoning but I'm sure it will work out....Terry is to stop on his way home from work, maybe tackle a few of the things on my "to do" list....Talked to Kathy last night and she was trying to get herself ready for the rush at the PO..She starts her 12 hour days today and is really looking forward to January...Her PO is next to the University and she has all the students and she will often remark, she doesn't know how these kids made it this far...Some don't even know how to address an envelope or send a package, will ask her to do it for them....
Tonight's dinner will be left over pork and sauerkraut and there's plenty for Terry is he decides to eat...I also made bread pudding but since I loaded it with raisins, it's all mine, Terry doesn't eat raisins, lol....
You all have a great day........
Happy eating...............

Good afternoon!
Most of the boxes of Christmas have been tamed and emptied. About all that is left is the boxes of ornaments and the train and tracks. I still need to do the mantle. Michael is currently measuring the space for the train track. I moved where I placed the tree, wbich is causing a new track layout.
The older grands will be here to decorate the big tree tonight. Their bribe is pecan sticky buns after they are done.
Dinner is a new recipe I found on Pinterest with chicken. If it is any good, I will share.
My Solara is now fixed and we need to go pay the bill and get her out of hock.
Enjoy,
Jana

Purrfect lady: Well, I am glad your team won. Broncos are 3 - 9. Have lost 8 in a row. Know some of players have had the flu. It was cooler here today, but very nice for DEC. evenings are cold. You had a busy weekend indeed. I want to go to Home Depot after first of year. They have a faux brick paneling I want to put up on East wall. Saw it in a DYI site and really likes it. Didn't look cheap.
auntjana: As a child we always had a train going around the tree. It was a Lionel. Wonder if they still make them. Daughter and family do the same. How do you make your sticky byns, as I have never made them? I AM FUMING OVER WHAT TRUMP IS GOING TO DO WITH
YOUR NATIONAL PARK. HE IS A DORK.Am going to do this in segments as I always hit a key that erases.

BECCA: Hope you are feeling better. Flu is going around, even Broncos have it. Tried to make a slip for one of my Terri Lee dolls with out a pattern - that was a mistake. I have a binder full of patterns for her, but wasn't sure where they were. Get well, soon!
IRISHGRAM: Your temp was probably warmer than here, Littleton, CO. But it was still nice. Evenings are much colder - burrrr.
ROSE 92:I can remember when we lived in Sacramento,we had some snow, bot much. It was in 1950. Before we moved to CA, lived in Rapid City, SD, the winter before we left 1949, we had snow up to our kitchen window. Could not get out of front door or back door, so my Dad built a tunnel. We have a rough winter and snow falls, blizzards, etc.

FARMCHICK; I love liver and Walla Walla onions. Like claves liver, but rarely see it and then when I do, I sort of step back, as was a baby who gave it up. What are you farm animals? Give them hugs for me and you also.
