Psalm 117
It is well known that Psalm 117 is the shortest Psalm and chapter in the Bible. A fact that may not be as well known is that it is also the middle chapter of the entire Bible. Actually, the middle of the Bible is between Psalm 117 and 118 since there are an even number of chapters. Not only is Psalm 117 in the middle of the Bible these two short little verses represent the central theme of the entire biblical narrative. Wheat the Bible is all about is God's desire and plan for all the nations and peoples of the world to know His truth, experience His loving kindness and praise Him!
One day every nation, people group, and language will be represented among the redeemed around the throne of God, praising Him and the Lamb that was slain for the sins of the world. The familiar verse we all know, John 3:16 tells us that "God so loved the world". His desire, His purpose, and the entire biblical narrative are about His being praised and worshipped by all nations and all the peoples of the world. Therefore, we should be faithful and diligent to proclaim His glory and tell of His salvation that all the peoples of the world would know that He is the true, living and everlasting Lord.
