SUPPER CLUB -Thursday, Nov 30

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Nov 30, 2017 2:55 am

Good morning!

Last day of November. Three years ago today our Foxy kitty got us as parents! Lucky day for us all!
Image

Yesterday I finished all the decorating, got the boxes and totes all stashed back away, house cleaned, laundry done, Scottie to the dog wash, a little shopping done, and dinner made. And I fell sound asleep sitting straight up in front of the TV at 8pm! lol! Today will be binding two small quilts, and a couple of errands. And I need to clean out the fridge. Not sure what else will happen, but that's enough!

BECCA - my DD in Texas has a 5' silver tree that is only about 18" wide. It weighs less than 10#, fits anywhere, and she moves all the time throughout the season! Nice that there are so many options these days!

JANA - A puppy for Christmas!! Could life possible get more purrfect for Tanner! Crenda will learn to deal with it, I'm sure. Just seeing her little boy's face on Christmas morning will be a forever memory!

I would love to see that nursery you talked about that transforms at Christmas! Enjoy those delicate trees! Because when your new kittenS come to town . . . . >^+^<

CHICKIE - I had a pretty Christmas cactus once and it actually bloomed a few times. But they are tricky buggers! The light has to be just so (and here it never is!), and they are picky about watering, too. Also, there is a Thanksgiving cactus, I think. Looks the same - to me, anyway. When we travel, my neglected plants suffer almost as much as they do when I'm here to care for them! lol!

IRiSH - I wonder if Jim would be interested if you took the small fiberoptic tree and put it in his room? You asked if Scottie liked his spa day! hahahahahahaha!!! He HATES it! And when he comes home, he's so suspicious that he steers clear of us for a couple of days, his eyes regarding us with unspoken accusations. lol! One time we had him groomed in Texas and forgot to tell them NO FOO FOO SMELL! We brought him back to the trailer afterward and the cats went to say hello to him, took one whiff, and hissed and attacked him! So funny! By the way, as we took down pictures in the downstairs family room yesterday to hang some christmas wallhangings, we noticed how bad the walls are getting. It's only been 18 years since we last painted. I thought of you and all your painting and even Bill agreed that maybe after Christmas, it's time. . . sigh. Thank you for planting this unwelcome thought.

My chicken/rice/chili/cheese casserole last night was pretty tasty. there's enough left of supper tonite, too, so all I need to do is toss a salad and we're good here!

What sounds good there??

Good morning :o)
Mary, we put the tongue and groove wood up in our living room and dining room and porch so I wouldn't have to paint :o) I just vacuum it off now and again. It sure doesn't seem like it's been 3 years already since Foxy found you :o)
Becca, yummy pizza :o) I'm trying to be good and not have any LOL let's see how long that'll last.....I'm trying to wait till April when they start up my fav pizza making here again.....wonder if I'll make it.....pizza hut is showing some yummy commercials LOL I'm doomed I'm sure ;o)
We had soup last night, I made a huge stuffed as full as I could get it crock pot full and would you believe I only have maybe 1 1/2 bowls left?! Easton, Preston and Jazmyne polished off 4 good bowls when Jazmyne got here after school yesterday and then I took a good 2 heaping bowls to Mom and Dad and then we ate 2 good bowls here....I'm gonna have to start making bigger batches feeding that many people LOL it sure was yummy and we ended up cooling off yesterday afternoon and evening that by bedtime we had to turn our pellet stove on, 2nd time this season.....we've been having really crazy warm weather....I'm so ready for snow! :o) Our last rain was the first half of September.
I think tonight I'll do chicken some way and I'm going to make chicken salad tomorrow and that can be Mom and Dad's supper because I'm not cooking for us, we won't be home, Kevin is cooking for us :o) going to do a little Christmas shopping looking tomorrow evening.

Morning everyone:

Cold, crisp, frosty morning here. With the cooler weather I have reversed my day. I do inside things first until it warms up enough after lunch to go outside. We have found that opening the French doors from the bedroom, and the back door from the family room to the sun room allows the heat from the house into the sun room and it is quite comfortable in there.

DH started work on putting up the outdoor Christmas lights. He built a box to house the outside timers and electrical connections and of course it will last 100 years! We bought a tree several days ago but it is still outside in its bucket of water. He puts the tree in the stand, then ties up the bottom branches with fishing line so they don't sag. Like I said, everything he fixes will last years. It is my job to decorate the tree. He has given me an ornament every year we have been married so I have 38 really nice ornaments that go on first. We used to really decorate the house when we lived near family but now there is no one to see it. We will be spending Christmas at Yosemite at the Awhanee Hotel (oops, they changed the name to The Majestic), hoping for another winter wonderland like last time we stayed.

Our winters are fairly mild, just a few episodes of freezes, so my roses don't go completely dormant. I have to rip off all of the leaves in November to force them in dormancy, then cut them back end of December. Since I have 9 tea roses and one fence climber, it takes me about a week of work. I am on the last one, the climber.

I am making my SIL table runners for her grand dining table. It is the table I and my siblings grew up with. My dad got the big wooden plank from Navy mess hall surplus, refinished and polished it. It seats at least 10 people and was used for eating, sewing, art projects, butchering deer, Mom's taxidermy, and many other assorted things. Lots of memories. The table runners will be 4 log cabin blocks each, monthly themed. I already have the Thanksgiving and Christmas made. Two months will be back to back so she just has to flip them over and I only have to make 6. I love log cabin blocks.

Tina - here are two pics of my African Violets. I have more big pots and will put them out in the Sun Room. I had to get one of those pocket calendars to keep track of watering and fertilizing the two orchids, 6 violets, 1 succulent tray and a philodendron. Have the keep the "children" thriving!

Hope you all don't get too exhausted with Holiday preparations. I try to remember "the reason for the season". I won't be going down to visit family in San Diego until the middle of January, after all the holiday rush is over. I am going to try to time it with a quilt show in Ontario and take my sister with me.

Have a great day today and prayers to all those in need.

Good afternoon!

I just got back from the school run. It was in trade for Sarah picking me up some elastic at Hobby Lobby. I had a three block trip, she had the long trip of several miles plus standing in that long line. Good trade I think!

We didn't get my Mexican last night, I did chef's salads. So I made too much, so there are leftivers for dinner.

Not much new happening here, just more sewing. Michael went to his first PT appointment for his shoulder. He has very loose tendons and if he is not careful, he will tear his rotator cuff muscle. So the PT will help strenghten these muscles.

Mary - instead of me getting a new kitty, I will be training a new puppy! That's good in two ways, no track problems and Matt needs all the help he can get!

Well, better get going,
Enjoy,
Jana

Wow, I have some of those pots that my DH got in some auction boxes. I didn't know what they were for. My grandmother always had a lot of violets, but hers were in clay pots. Yours are beautiful Linda.
