SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Nov 4th!!

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Nov 04, 2017 3:19 am

Good morning!

Yesterday I sewed the binding on a quilt made from Churn Dash blocks I won in a Christmas block lotto last year. Then I went shopping to buy my DDIL a new nightie for her hospital stay. I went to three stores before I could find a simple short-sleeved knee length nightgown. and then I had to get a size bigger than she wears. But it's Christmas print (Elephants wearing Santa hats - weird) and she loves Christmas stuff, so I think she'll like it. Everything now is pajamas and I didn't want a waistband because she will have a long vertical incision. I also got her some lotion, chocolate, a deck of cards, and some Christmas mysteries.

Today I'm going through all my stash, refolding a few things, straightening it all, and making mental notes of what I have and gaps that I can fill at the big sale on Tuesday at my favorite LQS. I NEED nothing, but at ~$5/yard, I stock up for those times when I DO need it. I doubt this shop will be around many more years, given the owner's age and declining health. :o(

IRISH - congrats on that big win! Don't spend it all in one place! lol! I love Bingo. We play it at our RV Rally. I never win, but I don't care. Just love the game.

JANA - You might want to inquire about quilting prices ASAP and if they are in your range, get on her list because I bet everyone in the class will be wanting that specialized quilting. And one other thing to consider - if you are planning to make JN quilts for all the kids, you probably need to do them all the same way. . . .

BECCA - the big new super stores can be fun and they offer a lot of unique (and expensive!) foods, but for the most part, I don't buy those foods. When my parents were alive, they couldn't get around the store without resting. And I've never seen a park bench in a grocery store yet! So I did a lot of their shopping for them. Now they do have riding carts which my dad used a little bit, but he kept crashing it into displays! lol!

TINA - I would be so grateful for a grilled cheese sandwich prepared and delivered to me, I would kiss your blessed feet!! But if you and Frankie can laugh then you are a much better person than I!!! If your mom were my mom, she would have seen the last of my bee-hind years ago!! Once they get moved and settled, you will be off cooking duty, right? A person who thinks she can drive ought to be able to cook!

CHICKIE - I know today is your mom's big day and you were busy baking cakes yesterday for the open house in her honor. Tell her happy birthday from us!!

We have enough chicken chili enchilada casserole left over for tonite, I think. Tomorrow night, I'll have to think up new food - probably pork chops.

What are you thinking up for tonite?

Hi Mary, I told my DH what the date was on this. He said you must be planning meals way way ahead. LOL Are you ok or just trying to hurry up the Christmas season? Since Thanksgiving is the 23rd we better start thawing our turkeys quickly. Just teasing.

Prayers for your DDIL and all your friends with upcoming surgery. God bless you all, and prayers for you too as you try to take care of everyone. Remember to take care of yourself too, so you can be there for others. Glad to hear jury duty is over. Thanks for serving.

Rod is having back problems with bad arthritis these days so meals are a bit iffy around here sometimes. He loves to cook when he can. We have had pot roast, beef stew, pizza, etc when he feels good. Last night we had eggs, sausages, and good old fashioned Waffles. We have a waffle maker and hadn't used for a while. When I cook, could be anything. He has done most of the cooking for so long, I almost forgot how.

No idea what supper will bring. You all have a nice day and an awesome weekend.

The Christmas nightgown sounds so charming. Your DDIL will love it. Prayers will continue for fast healing in the coming days.

God bless, love and hugs too across the miles. Shirley Mae

Good morning!

Last bag - last bag! It is laid out on my sewing table just waiting for me to get down there. After it is done, I need to trim all the foundation pieces to their final sewing size and ready for class next Saturday. I am going to put 1/4 of the quilt on the design wall to see what it looks like. The final assembly is done in putting togehter these four sections, then in two and then you are done! I am way ahead of the class, as there is still another class in December.

Dinner - humm - we won't starve, but I have no idea.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from sunny but chilly, SW. Pa....Or maybe I should say, from a very confused state, lol....
I know this is the day we turn the clocks, hopefully, backwards, then I come here and Mary has us way into November and now, I'm not sure where I am, what day it is or what time....

But, I do know, Mary will be the 1st one I call if I ever have to go into the hospital....That is so sweet of you to take care of DDIL that way...And my big winnings went to a good cause, my tummy...Spent it all on lunch with the gals, yesterday.....I guess I do like bingo but it seems so slow to me...AND then you'll get those who keeps saying, caller, slow down! I like when they have the speedys, when they don't call the letter, just the number...But, it's fun to get together with my sister and her friends and we sure don't go to get rich, lol......

Tina, you will be the 2nd person I call when I get sick or need food, lol....I would be so thank ful for a grilled cheese..I think I'm like Mary, I'd have been long gone, a long time ago....You are really special to do what you do and remain sane.....It's funny, when you think about growing up and parents...My Dad passed away when I was 16 and it was hard growing up with my Mom...There were just my DS and me, me the oldest, but I was the one who could never do anything to please my Mom, even after I was married and had my kids...But, when Mom got sick and my DS placed her in a home, then she turned to me and I was "it" for the last 5 or 6 years of her life....I made a promise to myself, hopefully, never be like that....Hear me go on and on, don't mean to.......

Today is catch up on things I've been putting off, plus the laundry and vacuuming.....I've rearranged the walk in closet in the back bedroom, mostly full of my craft stuff and then I went through more of Jim's clothes and want to take him some of the heavy shirts....I hate to see his closet become so bare....

Not sure what else I'll get into this afternoon but do have some new Christmas fabric I'd like to use for runners for a couple of friends....Also found out, the front desk gal where Jim is will be having a baby in the spring, so I could get working on that afghan....BUT, it will be a big football (college) day and I'll be watching Notre Dame and then late tonight the Penguins are playing....
I had a call from Kathy last night and she and DH were ready to hop a flight to San Jose for the weekend...She said, it was kind of cold in Reno so they decided to go south and enjoy the banned foods at the shore...

Also not sure what my dinner will be....I might make a scrambler, but we'll see.............I might just have that grilled cheese everyone is talking about, lol.....

You all have a great day...........

Happy eating............

Happy Birthday, Chickie's Mother!

Late morning everyone:

Had a teeny bit of rain last night, just clouds and overcast yesterday and today. Good excuse to stay in.

Been under the weather with a mild stomach bug, nausea, body aches and lethergy past 3 days. Coming out of it now. Dang, I still get every little bug when I go out in public. Thought that was over once I was out of the classroom.

Well, the saga continues. After 3 coats on the concrete floor, it still looks bad. DH won't accept it although I keep reminding him that we have rugs and lots of furniture to cover. And it IS an outside room. Contractor comes back next week to look/see what to do.

And the Wayda Luck continues with my kitchen sink plugging up last night. And of course our local in-town people don't work on a Saturday (as if plumbing issues wait for Mon-Fri) so I had to call someone from Fresno who will charge a rural/Saturday fee to come out. Our house has a fault with the sewer line from the kitchen sink to under the slab where it connects to the sewer line...not enough fall. So this happens every 18 months, no matter how careful I am with putting stuff down the garbage disposal.

Yesterday we went to the Fresno Home Show. I had forgotten how anemic the Fall show is, we were out in under an hour. The best one is in the Spring. This one was mostly Solar and Direct TV and they must be desperate because walking the isles was like running a gauntlet of pressure from salesmen. We did make an appt with a local blinds/shutter company to come out and give us ideas for blinds in the sun room.

Since I finished the Jinny Beyer quilt I am taking break. Decided to indulge my interest in EPP. I had bought the book The New Hexagon by Katja Marek a while ago. She has taken 3" hexagons and cut them up into other shapes for interesting fabrics. These shapes are big enough to machine sew, instead of paper piecing. And since I am now an "expert" on Y seams, I figured I could machine sew. I am using Christmas fabrics and so far it is going well. Just takes lots of fabric planning, template drawing and matching seam end points. Don't know what I am going to do with them yet, but something fun.

Mary and Jana-- Hats off to your JN quilts. I started the Farmer's wife a long time ago and it still is a UFO.

Dinner tonight is Tuna Noodle casserole with salad, good for a dreary day. Have to start with the house cleaning tomorrow for my quilting group on Monday. Can't do anything today because DH is so messy in the kitchen and cluttery. Plus we have to move the sun room stuff into the livingroom so the family room is trip-free for my little ladies.

Have a good rest of the weekend and prayers to those in need.

haha!! What was I thinking?? I was thinking I was groggy and haven't had my coffee and hoping I didn't make a big blunder in my post! lol!

Our plans have changed. We ate our leftovers for an early lunch and then will meet friends for an early happy hour/dinner at Mexican restaurant. They've been gone since we camped with them first week of October. They went to CA and visited all the wine countries down there. And yes, there are lots of different areas in CA that grow different grapes. I think they hit them all! Will be good to catch up.

I've gone through all my stash, got organized, and then pulled out my UFO box - which is all past swaps. I decided to make up the jar quilt we did 2 years ago. So - back at it!

I made here finally. Thank you all for wanting my sandwiches. ...I made us a grilled ham and cheese and I ate a dill pickle. .. I'm having horrible leg cramps but it's worth it. ... it's fine! The only things we couldn't bring home was the canister set and the coffee pot but when they go slide the boxes and lay the curio cabinets down for moving they can pick them up. We were gone for 13 1/2 hours. ...my legs and feet are hurting so bad and camping. .. that's why I ate the dill pickle. .... it usually helps get rid of my leg cramps. I took a pain pill too.
Irish, I say the same thing. ....I don't want to be like my mom. I do love her dearly and we used to be close but she prefers her son's but at least I'm the favorite girl. ... mind you my sister has been a stripper, arrested for dealing drugs, is an alcoholic and a professional con artist. ..... but I'm the winner LOL reminds me of the country song. ...I forget who sings it. . Where he has bar fights and gets his ear cut or bit off and all sorts of bad things but the other guy gets it worse so it makes him the winner LOL
Mary, how fun to make a list of what you might need and go to that sale! I bet it's the cats meow! Hehe
Well I'm gonna go soak in a hot bath.
Night
Tina
