SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Nov 1st
Good morning!
Welcome to November! I think we can say it's officially almost the holidays. Thanksgiving is just 3 weeks from tomorrow. My DS and DDIL and my nephew and his wife are coming to dinner and all have requested ham. So that detail is decided.
No trick or treaters again last night. This makes 32 years and counting! The candy is safe! DH is happy!
Today is doing some more cleaning. Watch out spiders! I hit it big time yesterday and even rearranged the furniture in the family room downstairs. Riley likes to lay on the far end of the couch. I moved the couch and as I finished up the last of everything, I saw her sitting on the floor, where her end of the couch had been. And she was staring at me with big eyes that said, "WHYYY??" lol! I also had some time to work on my plaid lodge swap blocks. Sign-ups are still open so I'm making 14 for now. I posted a picture of my block in that thread. I also posted a picture of my Jolly St. Nick quilt in PHOTOS.
CHICKIE - The celebration for your mom's birthday sounds ideal. Are plans in the works yet for her 100th? Hope you don't have to do much cooking for your hunters. How many are there?
VELDA - you've got some busy days ahead - driving and setting up camp today, bus trip to Houston tomorrow. Are you bussing back tomorrow night or staying overnight in Houston?
JANA - how long did you sit outside last night? Brrrr!!
BECCA - I did manage to avoid court for today. But they called groups up through #22. So they are closing in on me! Hope you can see all the twins on TG. I've forgotten - are they your great-grands or your brother's great-grands? And what relation are the two sets of twins to each other? I have a hard time keeping all your family straight.
TINA - Hope your evening was fun with the kids! I love all the kids' costumes. Actually, while I don't get into it much anymore, I love all the fun and costumes of Halloween. It's getting to be a big 'thing' nowadays.
IRISH - did you go trick or treating last night? ;o)
Our stroganoff last night was delish! And I'll use the last of the sauce in my stew today and get that in the crockpot for tonite. LOVE crockpot dinners!
What's the story on your supper plans?

Good morning
Last night was so fun! Jazmyne and Easton both won a cake in the cake walk and they won tons of candy and prizes. They looked so cute! All Beauty and Beast outfits. Jazmyne was Beauty, Easton was Beast and Preston was Chip. We ate a burger for supper.
I signed up for the lodge swap
I couldn't resist the blocks that are being posted!
My turn to cook for Mom and Dad tonight so I'm making chicken Alfredo and peach cobbler for dessert
Yay thanksgiving is only 3 weeks away! ! Welcome November!
Dad thinks this weekend will have the trailer ready to move if the weather is nice and everyone can help. .... the ifs.

Good morning!
I hope this posts as my internet is very flaky this morning.
I came in after 2 plus hours outside. That is when the kids stopped coming and I was fown to one last bag of treats. Called that pretty close to running out! The grands all lived their trests I madr. I was yummy! Easy to make and can be tailored to your preferences.
Dinner - chicken breasts with a baked potato. A veggie too.
Heading down to sew on my JN. Michael and Sarah are taking her truck down for new tires and to remove the lifted suspension. That may make it easier to get in and out of - right now I need my step stool to climb in, so we use my car instead! My kids and their trucks!
Enjoy!

We didn’t have T or Ts either.Wouldnt come up our drive.Too far.We only have 6 kids in the neighborhood.
Chickie Your Mom is incredible to still live alone & sew.Sure the drop in will be nice.
Tina Glad your little cuties had fun. They are fun to see.Denise said Avery her little DGD who is 11/2 was dressed as Little Red Riding Hood. Her Mom made cookies & let her go around to neighbors giving them out.She was so cute with her basket.Shes real petite too.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Nov 1st
Morning all:
Getting cold in the am's--Finally!! But still warming up into the 70's by afternoon. Instead of getting out early to garden, I am waiting until after lunch. Rain and cold is predicted this weekend, and that will be it for the warm weather for the season. So I have to have all the ground cover trimmed by Friday. Cold and damp for the next 3 months. I am looking forward to being house bound so I can sew, sew, sew.
Still waiting for the contractor to return to redo the sun room floor. Latest excuse is that the product is on back order. Claims it should be in tomorrow. We shall see.
Only had about 25 T&T 'ers last night. It has really slowed down from the 75 or more that used to come. All Mexican kids, not a white one among them. Where have they gone? Now what to do with the left over candy...we sure don't need it.
Is anyone doing EPP projects at all? I am fascinated with them now but they take much more time. Fabric choosing and hand sewing are so slow but the results are beautiful.
Friday we are going the Fresno Home Show. This time of year it is really big and has lots of things that interest us old folks. We are looking for blinds for the sun room and my new bathroom. And of course there are the Cinnamon Rolls to die for.
Monday is my turn for hosting our little 6 person quilting group. I hope all the stored furniture in the house is out in the sun room or my little 80 year olds may be tripping over things. If not, think I will have to shove as much as I can into the livingroom for the day. The family room is large enough to fit us all if I clear it out. DH will have to spend the afternoon in the garage cleaning up his workbench.
Dinner tonight is spaghetti and salad, easy, easy.
Have a great rest of the week, hope life is good to you all. Prayers for those in need.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Nov 1st
Good afternoon from dreary, rainy, cold, yucky, SW. Pa...Now you're going to get tired of me saying yucky, lol.....(Me too)
Not sure what's happening with this computer but I've been threatening that little person who lives inside if it doesn't shape up soon, out he/she goes....Had my post already for yesterday and off it went and then the same thing happened today....Of course it could be, that little person has been celebrating Halloween too much and I don't mean, hitting the candy....
Mary, I checked the photos and your quilt is gorgeous...Was it a pattern or did you come up with it, yourself? Very, very nice....No, I didn't go trick or treating, I was my normal self, old and grouchy, lol....BUT, I had no kids, just didn't turn on the light...Early, about 4:30, I heard kids going up the street (not nice kids) and I was hoping they didn't stop here...I know, bad person! After they left the street, I figured, that would be it and it was...Even the 4 from next door were away and I didn't see them so Jim will be very happy with the candy supply.....DDIL, Cindy said, she had big kids from far away stop and ask for extras....What happened to the fun times???
Becca, see how confused I get....I knew you lived in N.C., oh the mind is going, lol....Oh my, what a scare! AND what a shame that people have to live with this fear...So glad your family is OK but feel so bad for those families who lost someone.....
Tina, Your dinner sounds great! I wish your Mom realized what a treasure she has in you...AND maybe a move this weekend, that would be great.....
I guess I need to get a hustle in the old bustle...I've asked the Post Office gal to come up for lunch tomorrow and I need to figure out what all I'm having...And, then I talked to my sister and told her, whatever I have, I'd bring to her house for our dinner tomorrow night, before bingo...I can't believe I'm still going to bingo, you know, that old ladies game, lol....I'm going to be leaving soon to visit with Jim...He's gotten a kidney infection and seems more quiet which I guess the antibiotic does that...
For my dinner, I have left over squash casserole....It's very good but all the butter and cheese doesn't sit well with the tummy...But, darn it's good!
You all have a great day.........
Happy eating...............

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Nov 1st
Good afternoon! The Hooligans and I just returned from a brisk walk to see Ava. I really prefer sunshine and lower humidity, but it was warmer than yesterday when I didn’t walk.
Ham for Thanksgiving dinner! Sometimes DS1 and his wife make a ham for family dinners. It’s always good—pineapple and cherries on it! Oh, poor Riley—so funny about HER SPOT!
Mary, I love your block. I just can’t find enough plaids to do a full swap in 12” blocks. Even if I do live in a man cave, and plaids would look great here… Then there’s the “where would I find time to make them???”
My sister told Mom she would rent a center and have a big blow out for 100. LOL! Every year Mom thinks she won’t be here… one day at a time… I think there are 5 or 6 hunters coming this time. They don’t all hunt on us, and they don’t stay with us. Last year, two of them came every day for a week for brunch. I really don’t want to re-play that.
Vel—seems like you made good time to Texas, or maybe it’s because I’ve been absent so much. It’s nice to have those freezer meals!
We had one trick or treater last night. She was the big, bad wolf—more like a cute 6 year old in a coyote costume… so sweet! She had been begging to come to our house for weeks, so they HAD to come. Parents and she went home with lots of treats, and we have plenty left.
Irish—of course I wouldn’t think a true Irishwoman would celebrate Halloween with just candy… Oh, I know—when I lived in MO, the big, big kids came with pillowcases and didn’t bother to dress up or put on a mask. I scared the you-know-what out of a group of them when I opened the door and yelled “Boo!” wearing witch make-up. They backed up fast with huge eyes and open mouths. They did compliment me that I was good. Too funny! In our neighborhood, they trucked in kids on flat-bed trailers. When they unloaded, it was like a swarm of locusts descending on the houses—groups of 15 at a time! That squash casserole definitely sounds good! I hope Jim feels better quickly! Have fun socializing and partying, too!
Rose—we are chilly and damp here, too. I hate to complain and wish for warmer weather, but I really like it nice with some sun. I’ve never tried EPP, but I used to sew hexagons together by hand with regular seams. I do them on the machine, too. I want to take the time for EPP… I used to do a lot of hand piecing when I worked. My friend and I met every day an hour before work started and sewed, pieced, hand quilted, x-stitched or crocheted then and again on our lunch hour. Have fun with your group!
Becca—Oh, I bet your heart just lurched in your chest! What a sad, sad event.
Jana—They used to run 3 hours or longer in MO. I liked the warm nights so I could sit outside—not the cold ones!
Tina—love the little kids in their costumes! I think I might just do chicken alfredo after reading your post! Sounds delish! Christmas is less than 2 months! YIKES!!!
Dinner—chicken alfredo with broccoli and salads. I made BLTs last night. There was a huge red tomato on the counter that grabbed me and said “Make bacon and toast with lettuce and me!” So, I did. So yummy! We are having the end of the tomatoes, although I do have a lot of the little green ones that I saved turning red… I do love my tomatoes!
Bon appétit!
