Oct 26 daily devotion

Psalm 94
Discipline is not something we usually relish. We commonly associate discipline with punishment for disobedience and wrongdoing, and it is usually painful. Whether it is a spanking as a child or being grounded as a teenager, discipline is not what we would define as a pleasurable or desirable expe]terience. But those of us who are parents recognize that it is necessary to teach a child right from wrong, respect for others, and appropriate behavior. As children of God, we are blessed when God chastens or disciplines us; otherwise, we would find ourselves no different from the wicked and godless people of the world who face His judgment and vengeance.

Even when we slip, God holds us up because of His loving kindness. Wehn anxiety overwhelms us, He comforts us and consoles us. He doesn't want us to be included in the destruction of the wicked, so He disciplines us; He is our security, our refuge.

Hugs and prayers

Discipline is from a latin word meaning learning, teaching. We have the best teacher in this world, our Lord and Savior. If we a have right heart, His discipline will be a joy to us. Teaching us in His loving way, to become a disciple of Christ.

The scriptures teach, " reprove at times with sharpness, then show a outpouring of love, lest you be esteemed a enemy". The Lord does that with us, what greater example do we have in raising and teaching our children and grandchildren, than the way He treats us.

Discipline is necessary for us as Christians & we must also discipline our children. It seems hard at the time to go thru trails but what a joy & peace to feel & experience the comfort God gives us in our times of need.Hes always there to hold us up & carry us .What a blessing. Becca
