Oct 3 Devotion

Psalm 82

We often have a problem accepting the fact that God is sovereign over all the nations and rulers of the world and then reconciling this fact with the prevalence of evil and injustice that is so common. Just as we want to blame Him for our own suffering, we think that if He is Lord, then He would do something about the afflicted and destitute, especially when they are the victims of wicked and despotic rulers.

In today's time with all the evil acts that take place whether, by rulers or simple people, there are two opinions of God. They say that God is either all-powerful or all-good but not both. If He is all-powerful, then He is not good because He would not allow these tragedies to occur. But if He is all-good, then apparently He is not all-powerful, for He did not and could not prevent the evil events. Of course, such reasoning contradicts the truth of God's nature; He is all-powerful and completely good and holy. He does not use His power to contradict the laws of nature or the consequences of evil deeds of depraved humanity. But in His goodness and providence, He does have a purpose through which He will ultimately be glorified.

We should never lose sight of the fact that one day God will shake the foundations of the earth in judgment.

Prayers go out for all those who were affected by the Las Vegas tragedy.

Hugs and prayers to you all today,
Izzy

Thanks Izzy, My grandfather came up with this same argument a few times for his reason to not believe. His heels were dug in so deep. It seemed like no matter what I couldn't make him understand. At the end of his life he allowed a chaplin to pray with him. but I am not sure if he's looking up or down now.

A very wise and loving Father in Heaven gave all who live in this earthly exsistence the gift of agency. With that great gift of agency, we can choose good or evil. We exercise our faith to walk in His path.

The rain will fall on the just and the unjust. We see through the glass darkly as Paul teaches, so with that limited view, we don't see the clear and eternal purposes of what we perceive as injustice.

Our loving Father in Heaven will hear the prayers of the righteous and through His wisdom, mitigate in our behalf. We must walk in faith, trusting in Him for all things. We will be blessed. Peace and comfort will be provided to us through out trials.
