SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Oct 1st

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Oct 01, 2017 4:00 am

Good Morning!

OCTOBER!! 2017!! Can it be possible?? Seems like it should still be at least in the 1990's. This century is going by so quickly!

Today is making dinner for company, Gus & Claudia if you'd like to know who it is. I didn't have my head on straight when I extended this invitation for supper and football. Supper is upstairs and TV is downstairs (we have a split level house). This means I have to clean both levels and both bathrooms!! What was I thinking??!

If I have time, there is also some cleaning to do in my sewing room today. I started a new project yesterday - a Summer Porch. I was thinking it would be nice to do something for Bill's SIL. She's a quilter, too, though we are not close at all. Her choice. I tried. And tried. However her hubby is the brother that has Stage IV liver cancer that's spread to pancreas, lungs, & lymph nodes. Anyway, I'm sure he has all the quilts he can use, but I thought it might be nice to make her one. As a nurse, a quilter, and a person who has traveled her path, I know what it means to to receive the warm thoughts, support, and comfort a quilt can bring.

GARDENQUILTER - I'm sorry, but crab cakes qualify as a banned substance here at supper club. If you MUST have seafood of ANY kind (yes, this means even tuna!) we refer to is as "mac & cheese". Not to be confused with REAL mac & cheese. ;o)

IRISH, you goofer-offer, you! So you have a new national hero in your family! Scary for all who love him, but I know you're very proud! I wish him many angels to keep him safe and sound. You reminded me, we want to get a new mattress warmer. We didn't pick one up last fall at Costco when we saw them. and you know Costco's motto = "here today, gone tomorrow!" along with "Buy early, buy often". anyway, we tarried too long last fall. Ours is threadbare and I expect it to start putting some real sparks in our bed any night now!

JANA - I suppose it's possible Scottie got a tick or two, though we treat him regularly for them. And he was itching some before we went. It's hard to see his skin through all his long coat. He's a beautiful dog but we spend more time on his hair than I spend on mine! lol! I finally gave him an allergy pill last night. Bill is going out today to get a bag of his old food - we thought new food (all good brands) would be a treat for him. Guess it might not have been. I will have to keep my eye out for those flavorings. We have all those sources you mentioned within 15 miles of us.

TINA - I know you were watching Mom today. Did the guys get the porch off?

CHICKIE - you had a wedding to go to. Was it fun?

LINDA - hope the camping is great!

We are having green chile chicken enchilada casserole tonite. I'm going to use up the last of the chilies that Tina was so sweet to share with us last time we breezed through Deming. There will also be a green salad and bread. I could add rice and beans, but maybe that's just too much. I also plan to bake a blackberry pie. Hopefully, this will give us just enough leftovers so I don't have to cook Monday, our last night before we go camping.

Have you got a supper story for us for tonite?

The wedding last night was so much fun! DH and I were escorted in by our grandson (brother of the groom). I had a pretty red carnation corsage, and DH had a boutonniere for his "formal" overalls strap. Everyone was casual--jeans and cowboy boots were the main attire. I had on boots with my dress as did 95% of the other females. The bride's dress was one of the prettiest, if not THE prettiest I've ever seen--strapless, mermaid silhouette, re-embroidered lace with pearls... you get the idea. Ivory in color. The gents all wore burgundy vests with jeans. Even their two dogs were in the bridal party--German shepherd wearing a gold bow collar, and husky sporting a collar and bowtie. It was all outdoors in DS2's pecan orchard area. They had rented tables and chairs and built a dance floor. I'm sure there were at least 300 or more there. We didn't stay for the dance... DH is always ready to go home to the soft chairs, and since we got back early sister-in-law went back home and didn't spend the night with us. I fed Blondie and Annie when we got home.

Today I left my basket of gleaned tomatoes sitting on the porch steps. DH and I were out on the fishing dock sitting in the sun on the bench he made. We heard a noise... Blondie and Annie had knocked the basket off the steps and eaten half of my tomatoes before I got to them. Then, when I was hanging out my laundry, they were laying in the tomato vines and eating them. Sigh! At least I have some vines they can't get to unless they jump fences!

Dinner tonight... DH will have some beef on a bun. I'll have something else on a bun with lettuce and tomatoes (smoked Florida fare that I've fixed with mayo, relish, celery, etc.) (Sorry Mary

Sorry I'm late as usual... Need to go get the laundry in now...

Bon appetit!

Hi :) pay my bedtime but thought I'd setting by and give you an update. Mom and Dad arrived Thursday night and I've been cooking and taking good over to them at their property plus sitting with Mom while Frankie and Dad did things at the property. No porch work because we all stayed in Deming but we've got kinda sorta plans for this Friday Saturday and Sunday because I won't be watch the boys Friday this week and none nett m next week because of a break. Dad's going to see if there's any possibility to get the mobilehome moved next week while I sit with mom. She had a panic aattack today when Dad went home to take care of their animals and my sister in law wanted to sit with her awhile. When I called her to see if she wanted a break she told me what was going on I went over and took care of mom, she was ok by the time dad got back.

Mary, I need you to swing over here, I was sitting at my kitchen table this morning and I saw something move out the corner of my eye. ..... KITTENS! Get you hiney over here! LOL the mommy is totally black and I saw 2 babies that are about 4 weeks old, very little. 1 is a tabby and the other one is red, I've never seen a red cat ever! It's redder than Rosie! Come help me catch them :)
I've had a migraine most all weekend, it's eased up but I'm feeling exhausted and kinda sick to my stomach. I better get to bed and get some rest so I'm a good grandma for the boys tomorrow :) I'm sorry I'm so hit and miss lately, hopefully things will settle down soon.

Oh it's the home health care nurse telling Dad that Mom needs hospice, another one told him Wednesday or Thursday. .. Mom says no so he just leaves it but it's getting where he's gonna have to make a decision, she can't hardly walk to the bathroom now.... the motor home is only about 12' and she's having a difficult time, I don't know what's gonna happen when they get back in their trailer, it's about 20' away.

Night
Tina
