SUPPER CLUB - Sun, Sept 10th
Good morning!
We are all packed, hitched, and loaded - ready to hit the road on Monday morning. We were going to leave today then checked the Seahawk schedule. They play this afternoon so we're sticking around to watch the game. This morning, we need to give Scottie a bath and comb out, do one more load of laundry, finish mowing the lawn, and do one more thing that I can't remember. I hope if that thing doesn't come to me that it's not crucial!
IRISH - Sounds like you have some beautiful collections! I have one Irish Santa about 5" tall. No leprechauns, though my SIL calls my oldest brother her little leprechaun. That's as close as I've got.
JANA - you've inspired me and I've got my JN table-topper pattern out. It's called Seasonal Gatherings. I plan to do it in the colors of the cover photo as they will go well in my dining room. Maybe when we get home from the ocean in mid-Oct I can get busy on that one. If I get stuck or confused you know who's going to be the first one I call! Thanks! I love the color pallette you've chosen for your quilt, even though my usual colors are those found in peacock feathers.
LINDA - sounds like your hubby has found some great activities that will content him and give you peace and quiet to pursue yours! Putting on a quilt show is a HUGE deal! Bill and I volunteered to hang quilts for a big NW show years ago. Lots of volunteers worked hard 10-12 hours to get them all hung (and taken down again when it was all over!). We were exhausted. I hope you have lots of help! But what a fun project to be involved in and I hope it doesn't stop because your friend wants to retire from it. Prayers for her son. So sad.
BECCA - we'll be watching the news in a few minutes to keep track of this storm. Will be thinking of you and my former in-law family in near Charlotte. I hope it loses steam before it comes north.
We still have more of those sandwiches. Sigh. But I think I might make mini pizzas using leftover sauce, pepperoni, and last bit of mozzarella on tortillas. Or I might roll them up like taquitos and bake them. And the last of the kale salad mix. It's all good football-watching food!
Sandwiches, anyone?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sun, Sept 10th
Late Morning all:
Had a migraine in the middle of the night. So I feel louzy this morning. There is always a 'hangover' feeling for a day afterwards. No outdoors or church for me today.
MaryZ - you are off and camping. Yay! Hopefully we can get out again soon. They will be closing all but our favorite campground middle of Sept., so we still have time.
I have finally found a home for Speedy, the water turtle. I have had him for 17 years in a tank in the kitchen nook. It is becoming such a hassle to clean him, takes 4 hours twice a month, with lots of hauling water filled tanks and leaning over the bathtub. Plus, we want to leave for longer periods of time than just 2 weeks. He will outlive us. I didn't want him to go just anywhere. So he will go to the Arroyo Grande Turtle and Tortoise Rescue on the coast. It is a good forever home and he may even be adopted out. We will combine it with a short road trip to visit Solvang, a Danish tourist community nearby that is having a festival. Only about 3-4 hours away from us. Once we are pet free we can take off at any time. I will miss him but it is time.
It is so nice to be out of the 100's, 90's actually feel cooler, and have cooler mornings. I am still in tank top and shorts, but I actually need the sheet over me at night now. The plants are starting to revive and look greener. But everything is brown with dust. We need a good rain, but that probably won't happen until November. They predict some sprinkles this coming week but it is a 'chance' which usually means just the mountains, not the valley. For now the fires are starting to get under control, but we will see if new ones start.
Not much else happening, hope your coming week is good. Prayers for all those in need due to illness, trouble, or weather.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sun, Sept 10th
Good early afternoon from sunny and warm, SW. Pa...Purrrfect Fall day! It could stay like this until May and then get summery....Not asking for too much, right?
Mary, I think any time there is mention of an ocean in any trip, it has to be special...Of course the people in Florida aren't too happy to be seeing or knowing that ocean might be on their doorsteps...In the years I've been collecting this "stuff", I never thought it would be such a pain, lol....My Irish Gentlemen/Santa's aren't really santas, they're all green, couple are music boxes, about 10 inches tall, from Precious Dreams by Clothtique. But I also have smaller ones that are Santas but my gentlemen are special, (as any Irish gentleman is, lol)....And by the way, we do have a new tuxedo, just rescued but won't be ready for adoption as yet...How long is your DS staying in the area???
Linda, love to also hear about your plans, Wow....Sounds like Speedy will be going to a special new home, that's great...Thank goodness they are getting those fires under control and praying there won't be any new ones....
Normally, with the Steelers playing, we would be glued to the TV but sadly, just doesn't mean as much any more...As much as Jim loved, loved his Notre Dame, when I talked to him about the team, he has no interest and it's the same with the Steelers...But, I do have the game on and they were winning but I have other things to do....And one is to visit with Jim and I'm thinking of taking him for a ride and maybe stop somewhere for dinner...It will only be a drive thru but it will be something different for him....
I just looked up in the yard and we have a huge ground hog sitting under the crab apple tree, actually sitting up eating the little fallen apples....Guess it's getting ready for winter...Don't really like them but he/she does look cute sitting there...Usually, it's the deer that come to eat the apples...
Other than seeing Jim, that's going to be my day..In our ride we might stop at Kevin's so Jim can see the new puppy...
And if we don't eat out, who knows what my dinner might be, lol....Really need to stock up on my chips, lol.....
You all have a great day, stay safe.....
Happy eating...................
