SUPPER CLUB - Monday, August 28

Good morning!

We are back in the high 80's. Not my thing, but I know chilly rains aren't far behind so I can deal with it.

I was working on my Santa quilt yesterday - Heart to Art Jolly Old St. Nick is name of pattern - and found they made error in cutting directions. Arghhh!! Of course, I was already well into sewing the blocks together by then. Had a lot of frogging, recutting, resewing, etc. to do on every single block. If you have this pattern, make a note: They say to cut 5-1/2" squares to make 5-1/2" HST's. The squares need to be 6".

Today, after a couple of appointments and errands, I'll get back to it.

CHICKIE - sounds like little Pocket Lint must have quite a sashay to her walk to garner so many young admirers! lol! Glad Doyal had a nice birthday! When is the bridal shower?

BECCA - how far away does your DS live? Will he be able to visit Denise when she comes later this week? Hope you get your appointment set today.

TINA - your house was Grand Central Station this weekend! But sounds like you all had a great time! so your dad thinks the move will happen soon, eh? Did your mom say anything about it?

LINDA - are you home from camping yet?

JANA - did you finish all the skinnies or are they a WIP? What does Ethan think of school?

We did have sort of a meatball stroganoff over noodles last night. So good! And we're having it again tonite. I am so lucky that Bill loves leftovers! I usually cook enough for two nights, especially on hot days.

And you? What's your supper story?

Good morning! We are foggy, really foggy and cool today. It will burn off soon and be mid-80s by afternoon. I have Choc, Maggie and Ava duties today. I was out feeding the calves this morning, and DH was leaving to go to coffee when he decided to take pictures for his Facebook posts. I was NOT ready to meet the world…

Oh, Mary! Doesn’t that STINK when they make an error! I’ve tested patterns for a designer, and that’s where the errors should have been found—BEFORE publication. Sarah always had three of us testing her patterns from fabric to finish. The shower is September 10.

I’m fortunate, too, to have a DH who eats leftovers. We go out with friends for dinner. The DH will not eat leftovers. The Hooligans get REAL TREATS when we go out with them!

This is going to be short this morning so I can get in the sewing room and work on the comfort quilt. I want to finish it as soon as possible for DD’s friend.

Dinner tonight: Leftovers! There’s steak and ravioli with marinara along with salads to make and watermelon for later. And, DH has birthday cake.

Bon appétit!

Late morning everyone:

Returned from 70+ degree weather at 7000’ to 106 degrees in the valley all week. The kids have been in school for a week so it was really quiet. Mostly us “older” adults. We love going up to Kings Canyon National Park because it is only 1 hour away. I followed in the car this time so we could take off and explore. As you campers know, there is always “one” who talks to everyone and you learn their whole life history in 10 minutes and they never stop talking. My DH has “social anxiety” and goes camping to be left alone. Unfortunately, the “one” was our neighbor. Fortunately, they only sat around. We like to hike and explore so we were gone a lot. We had a new to us site this time and it had a lot of sugar pine trees in it. This time of year they have huge, green, sappy pinecones hanging from their top branches. The squirrels like to climb up and chew the cone stems, then it drops like a torpedo to the ground where they chew it up. We were told our site had the most dropping bombs and 1 broke a car window last week. We lucked out and most of them dropped in the street, but our RV and Car got covered with sap. I spent this morning (before we hit 100) cleaning out the RV and getting the pitch off the rugs, step, brake pedal and accelerator of the both RV and Car. DH worked on our shoes. Guess what gets sap off the best? Prell Hand Sanitizer.

I am in for the day, as it is now too hot, so I will catch up with you all this afternoon. Don’t know what is planned for dinner, but we had egg sandwiches last night as we were too tired to cook. Lots of laundry to do. One thing camping is….is dirty!

Have a great day….**Linda
