SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Aug 18th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Aug 18, 2017 6:17 am

Good late morning!

Where have all the minutes gone this morning! I had to put the computer down and take Mr. Scottie-Dog to the bark park with his lady love, Dutchess. And yes, Irish, Scott does believe he's God's gift to the ladies! lol!!

JANA - yes, we'll be in Utah next month with my sister and BIL - in Richfield at the ATV jamboree. We'll spend a week riding the Piaute Trail system on guided rides, going to catered BBQ's, lunches, attending entertainment, and hopefully, winning some big, wonderful prizes - like maybe a brand new RZR!! We'll be at the KOA there for 8 days, then racing home (1,000 miles) to unload ATV, detach dingy tote that we haul it on in back of the fifth-wheel, reattach the regular storage box, reload, laundry, food, etc, and take off again for the ocean. We have only couple days to do it all. We should have checked our calendar more carefully before making all these plans!! having fun is exhausting!

BECCA - so great that your DD is coming to visit. I know what that feels like! If I remember right, her last visit got cut short for medical reasons. I hope this is a nice, long visit for you both. Traffic is probably getting crazy there for you just like it is here for the eclipse. Oregon is already one packed and crowded state! SOO happy we decided to stay home! To be honest, never really wanted to go anyway, but our friends really, REALLY wanted us to.

CHICKIE - OH, I would have gone after that officer, too!! What a know-it-all jerk! Just showing off his new-found knowledge. But sad to say, it's really hard to rid yourself of squatters. Here, too. I hope the mess you found wasn't too 'gag-ful'.

IRISH - that was just so sweet what Jim said! Insert little heart here! and congrats on the new grandpuppy!! What is his name?? Kenderosa Sue got a new puppy, too, while they have been in Texas this summer. A bassett, I think, named Montgomery.

TINA - Oh my, mom does have her adventures! It's definitely a good idea to get her checked out. Jim fell many times (more times than Terry ever knew - or so he thought), and he did break bones that no one realized until it was too late to fix them properly. Bet you'll already see changes in that little guy this weekend!

I have chiropractor in a few minutes so need to wrap this up. Today - wood, vac'g, and maybe a little bit of yard work and some sewing. Going to really mix it all up today! Supper will be grilled chicken, saute'd spinach with garlic, and we'll probably share a potato cut in half and grilled. Our grandson is coming to take a load of old, seasoned wood after work so maybe we'll feed him, too.

Wishing you a tasty supper!

Hello everyone:

Late morning, as usual. This week has been crazy, lot of appointments, cleaning up the last of DH's office and getting my house back.

DH's office is now completely empty, being shown regularly and he has just no reason at all to return there until it is sold. He is so relieved to have the contents ALL gone and to not have to go there again. We both had doctor appts yesterday and passed with flying colors. Since we had to go into Fresno (1 hour away) we did monthly shopping and tried a new Chinese restaurant we had read about. Turns out it was one we had tried 20 years ago, liked, but could never find it again. It was still good, even after 20 years. I also had to start some teeth revision, while my dental health ins will pay 50%. I have 5 old, old porcelain crowns that have worn down to the metal and need to be replaced. I started with 2 next to each other this week. Two hours in the chair is all I can handle at one time. But it was really cool...no more ooey, gooey impressions. He just took pictures and made temporaries like from a 3D printer and they fit perfect. He sends off the pics to the lab to make the permanent ones. Cool.

Now that we are retired our time is our own (DH is still mixing up his days, though) so we decided to get up really early this morning and go to an estate sale in the neighboring town. They had advertised 2 featherweights. We got there first thing and by golly, I was the first to look at the featherweight. I have missed out before, but I got this one! It turned out to be a 1936, and looks to have been little used, with new wiring, complete with good case (not stinky), all the accessories including old oil can still full of oil, old lubricant in the original box and the original manual. All for 175. I am into restoring these babies and already have my own 1949 Featherweight. But this one is so early and in such good shape I may wind up keeping it for myself. DH was on board with this and even told me he was as excited about getting it as I was. It is finally nice to have some support!

Glad you are are all fine and getting things done...just take time for yourselves too! Tonight is left over Chinese from last night...Orange Chicken and General Tao dish (bok choy, veggies and oyster beef).

Have a great day...we are in the 90's now and cooler at night, finally!

Good way past dinner time!

I am heading upstairs to go and rummage the refrig for leftovers. We have been playing down in the Batt Cave and lost track of the time. The only thing telling me what time it is, is my tummy is growling! LOL

Mary - What fun! The weather should be beautiful as Fall has started already. Our really outrageous hot days should be behind us now. Maybe some in the 90's, but that is it. If you need a stop on the way home, my house is always here. You could park the rig in the front yard and no one in the court will mind.

Linda - so glad that everything is now over and done with! Now you can enjoy retirement! What a find with the featherweight. I love mine - it is 7 days old than I am. I found it online a few years ago and just had to have that one, the same age as me!

Becca - don't need to say, enjoy your DD's visit- just don't get into to much trouble!

Well we are ready to leave in the morning to take Stu and then wander home. Tomorrow night is the Ward party at 6 pm, over at our neighbor's yard. Mexican food, so if we make it home in time, I won't have to cook. In fact, even if we don't make it home in time, the car knows the way and I still won't cook!

Sarah is leaving in the morning as well for the week.

We were able to get eclipse glasses from our eye doctor today, so we will be able to see it from our house. Granted, it is only 95 percent, but that is good enough for me. No way do I want to be in that traffic! the gas stations here are already starting to gouge the prices of a gallon of gas. We topped off for tomorrow and the price was more than 50 cents a gallon from the day before!

I had a good laugh at the news reporting today - they are suggesting that you take a different route home from viewing the eclipse from up in Idaho, they say that I-15 will be a mess! The laughable part is, that there is no other way from Idaho! We have one north south freeway in the state!

Well, I am now getting any fuller in my tummy by sitting here in the Batt Cave!

Enjoy!
Jana
