SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, August 15th

Good morning!
Not a lot new here. We did remember to meet our friends at the Mexican restaurant last night! lol! And my husband sat right next to me and ate a tuna tostada! And the tuna wasn't even cooked!! RIGHT NEXT TO ME!! Gaaacckkk!! He blatantly ignores the rules, as you can see! Some peoples' husbands!!
Today I need to finish the laundry - 2 loads to go - and quilt the two Halloween placemats. They are from QIAD's pattern for jack-o-lanterns. It's such an easy pattern and so cute. And we'll also do some more wood splitting/stacking. Our plan to leave it alone for a while and see if it would split and stack itself didn't pan out like we'd hoped. Thank God for a splitter! I named it "Chopper".
We are supposed to go to our friends in Oregon to see the eclipse. She is the friend who had the double lung transplant 5 years ago and then was terribly sick with pneumonia and mild rejection early this summer. Well, now I may/may not have shingles (I went to the doc and got an antiviral med, but since I have no rash - yet - they couldn't diagnose for certain.) On top of that I might be coming down with my first cold in 2 years, though I think the antiviral is keeping it to a minimum. Our friends REALLY want us to come, but I'm so afraid of making Betsy sick. So I'm thinking we'll have to cancel. The cats will be happy, at least.
The berries just keep on coming! I'm out of room in my freezer. And I've made 6 batches of jam. And here I was, worried about not getting any berries this year! lol!! I sure wish I could share them with you all!
IRISH - Happy Birthday Eve!! oh, it's a good thing I'm not working with you and the kitties. That little tuxedo would have been in my purse for sure! I have no willpower when it comes to kittens - especially those little black and white ones! I'm sorry things have to be like they are for you and Jim, but I'm happy you are able to find the blessings!
BECCA - and blessings for you, too! All that fresh produce and a good dose of laughter with your friends, the very best medicine! Have you heard anything from your doctors yet?
LINDA - Sorry the sale wasn't a bigger success but maybe it's for the best for the mission group who is now getting the leftovers. I'm sure they can make good use of those items! Oh, those dust bunnies would have driven me crazy, too! I sound like an obsessive cleaner and I'm so not, but I do have my line in the sand - er - dust. Tomorrow I'm starting a serious cleaning campaign here as I'll be in between sewing projects.
TINA - I can see you putting on some miles in your near future! How is Baby Matthew doing? How are his parents doing?? And fancy you - a mani-pedi! You be stylin' now, girl!! I would LOVE to have Jaz stop by here with her polish!
JANA - oh no, didn't you just have a bad tooth less than a year ago?? And then Michael had one right after that? I hope it's not too bad. I HATE dental work! But then, who doesn't!
CHICKIE - are our babies coming back much or are they pretty much assimilated into the herd now? I keep wondering if their cow-moms recognize them.
Some bad news here. Last night Bill learned his brother has Stage 4 liver cancer that has spread to lymph nodes in his neck. He's already lost his other two brothers and I think this is a real blow to him. We hope to find out more next week. This brother, Mike, is just 70 yrs old.
In the meantime, we have to have supper. I'm going to make some kind of layered Italian pasta dish with spinach being one of the layers. And a small salad.
