SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, June 8th
Good Morning!
After a week of nice, warm weather, this morning it is pouring rain! Bill and I sat out on the deck swing under a quilt and sipped our coffee, watching the rain for a little while. My morning walk isn't happening. Can't take a chance on Scottie melting!
I got strawberries yesterday at Costco, so I'll be making jam later this morning after my jars are done in the dishwasher. Also, you asked - marion berries are like a very large blackberry. And I think a bit more flavorful. They grow on bushes that are more like raspberry bushes, though. My aunt & uncle used to raise them.
JANA - some days in the sewing room - we should just back out and slowly close the door! lol! We have Marie's dressings here and also the strawberry glaze. Glad you enjoyed your lesson yesterday when you "took Ruby to town". I hope your niece recovers quickly and her surgery a big success!
IRISH - really glad about that bill!! Yes, pay it fast and mark the receipt PAID IN FULL! I am working on a list of things to see in the PNW. And they can always write to any state's department of tourism to get maps and literature sent right to their house. Good luck to your penguins tonite! and safe travels to NC tomorrow. How is Terry liking his new job? Is he staying with you or still bunking with his friend or has he found his own place yet?
TINA - your brother is a bully. Don't let him do it. You hang up on bullies. You have been there for your parents through thick and thin for many years and through many crises, and taking abuse from your mom for it! Looks like in his case, the apple didn't fall far from the tree.
CHICKIE - I love your farm stories! They bring back good memories of my childhood because I am still a farm girl at heart! What a beautiful treat to see those pea fowl!! I hope they got home OK, where ever that is. And husbands! I hope the cow-babies ate up his favorite melons! Why is it when we tell them something they think they know better, and it almost always turns out that they don't! I love mine, but sometimes, when it comes to common sense, he is as dumb as a box of rocks! lol!! But he's MY box of rocks!
BECCA - your DGS will have fun with his new pop-up! He lives right in the heart of all the camping areas where we always went when I was a kid. IN fact, when my parents were married May 28, 1934, they spent their 10-day honeymoon camping up in the hills along the Duckabush River, only few miles from your DGS! And if he likes hiking, and if he hasn't found it yet there is a wonderful campground and hiking trail 16 miles in on the Dosewallips River. Also, hiking and camping on the Hamma Hamma River and Upper and Lower Lena Lakes. All there within about 30-60 minutes of Hoodsport.
Dinner last night with our friends was fun. We did indeed sit out on their deck and enjoy some wine and conversation while he grilled ribs. Scottie got the bones! He was a happy dog!
Tonite - corn and leftover macaroni salad and probably grilled chicken. It's rainy, but our deck is covered so we can still grill. We do the corn on the grill, too.
Anything tasty going on at your house?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, June 8th
Hi all:
Just got back from camping. We were celebrating DH's retirement and 70th birthday last week. We were up at 7000 feet and the weather was so perfect, while down in the valley we are roasting in the high 90's. Did some hiking and just relaxed.
Bathroom renovation is coming along, today is painting and finishing the wallboard repair to get ready for tile and back splash installation. Meanwhile my livingroom/sewing room is piled high with everything from the bathroom and the laundry closet.
Also the new washer and dryer arrived. They will have to be stored in the family room until the contractor can move the outlets in the hall laundry closet. Seems 25 years ago appliances were smaller and this closet could accommodate them. Now appliances are made bigger and won't fit without jury rigging things. So that has been added to the list for the contractor to do.
And to top it off, I am leaving Saturday to visit family in San Diego, then taking my elderly old maid Aunt to Colorado to see her 93 year old brother who is not well. It will probably be the last time she sees him. So DH will have to put his clean up of the office on hold and manage the stuff going on at home.
So, I will be AWOL again for awhile. I enjoy reading all about your interesting lives, especially the calves, but time limits my response to each of you.
Just to be legal, I had scrambled eggs and squash for dinner last night due to a late dental appt that involved novocaine. DH also had the squash, but I did make him some pork chops. He had his carbohydrates (chips) with his beer earlier.
You all take care, see you in about 3 weeks. And no Becca, I am not dieting! The scale tells on me daily!

Good morning
Thank you Mary
Yes he's bullied me my entire life, I try to stay away from him as much as possible but he is my brother and I love him, I prefer to live him from a distance most of the time
We do go visit a couple times a year and invite them over but not often. He's the brother that came for Easter after I bought all the food and everybody else cancelled. Everyone in awhile he'll tell me he lloves me which means a lot.
I talked to mom's Dr yesterday and they are having a meeting today to see what they can do to get her out of her mood. She's not talking to Dad, she thinks he put her there against her own will even though she's been told several times that it was the Dr that wanted her there and she said she'd go. She's mad at us all and won't answer her phone and when she does she either acts like or actually has forgotten how to hold a phone and talk on it. Enough of me venting.
I'm making smothered burritos for supper
I started this an hour ago I think but my sister in law called to tell me how Mom was last night.
Have a fun day
Tina

Thank you Mary

Hi everyone. I know I am late. Most days I don’t even get to my laptop until about 4:30pm. Then it’s time to be doing the cooking, not just planning and thinking about it. LOL
Today, we went out “macaroni” ing. Hmmmm. Well we only do catch and release, so I guess it’s ok to say the “word” here???? But…. We had NO LUCK at all. The water was very calm and no minnow action anywhere. It get’s boring after awhile. I love it when the macaroni is biting. LOL
Yesterday, I did most of my chores and so today will just be a lazy day. No sewing, just nothing but maybe a short nap.
We have about 4-5 days of very HOT and HUMID weather approaching, so I will do more sewing then when it’s not fit to be outside for anything.
Gardens, and canning sounds so delicious. Also, I enjoy all the stories that Chickie has shared with us.
Linda: hope you have a safe trip with your Aunt. Sounds like your camping was fun.
Tina: I feel your pain. You can vent to all of us as much as you like. We all understand. It is so stressful to deal with our aging parents. Mine are gone now, and I miss them so much. It’s the happy memories we hold on to, not the sad ones.
For our dinner tonight: We had tacos (which DH and I prefer to do it in salad style instead of the individual taco style). So we have leftovers tonight. That is good, because dinner will be quick. Tonight is dance night for us.
Hope you all have a great evening and yummy dinner.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, June 8th
Good very late morning! I’m getting ready to go walk down to Ava’s and then to Choc and Maggie’s.
No farm stories today. All is calm… the calves are beginning to get the jist of eating from the pails by themselves. They drink water from a big tub I have filled and eat feed from another bucket. They are growing up. Last evening I put the pails on the fence in their pens, and I think Pocket Lint got the better of Blackie, but this morning she was holding her own and wouldn’t let Lint push her out of her pail. They are wandering the yard, trimming my hostas, checking out the machine shed and pulling up my iris. I haven’t worked on my flowers much this year, and it’s probably a good thing or I’d really be frustrated.
Mary—enjoy your jam making! I’ll have to look up marionberries. My tame blackberries are much larger than wild ones and have no thorns. The raspberries have thorns but not as nasty as wild blackberries.
Irish—that was an amazing bill! Sure hope it is all of the charges. I used to get stacks of bills from just one of DH’s hospital visits. Everything was charged separately by various providers. Good luck!!!
Tina—Hope your mom’s attitude improves. She can’t be helped unless she makes up her mind she wants help. Keep your big girl panties on and don’t let the crazies get you down! If I leave now, I can be at your house in 15 hours… will you hold dinner that long?
Rose—sounds like a fun time camping! I have my laundry in the master bathroom. It’s where all the laundry is pretty much generated and works out well. Have a good trip with your aunt and uncle. I’m sure your aunt will be appreciative of your care. I know what you mean with the scales… sigh!
Dinner—DH had some of the mystery meat last night, and I suggested sandwiches on buns like po’ boys, and he really liked them. He gets the rest tonight. I found lots of salad stuff for me, and I know I’ll find more tonight.
Bon appétit!

Vel--you got in here while I was messing with trying to get my post to post correctly. A day of macaroni-ing whether successful or not still beats a day at the office! We do taco salad style, too, rather than tacos. Maybe tomorrow night. Enjoy your dancing!

Good morning!
Class was fun yesterday. Next week will be the killer - learning to use the computerized things that she can do.
Sarah's coming in a few minutes to pick up the cookies I made. But DH is sampling them first. These are his favorites too.
I thawed chicken yesterday and didn't use it last night, so will do baked chicken with my good coating and a salad..
Ethan just walked in, see ya later,
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, June 8th
Am I too late for supper?????
I had kind of a busy day and thought I'd better check in because I'll be gone until Sunday night....Not a long trip but going to be extra good....
But, I spent most of the morning getting the house in order, can't have Dan and Casey coming to take care of the fur kids and finding a messy house, lol...And also trying to decide what to take....Then I was off to visit with Jim and he was so sleepy today, just couldn't seem to wake up...Well, not until I pulled out a couple of cookies and then he woke up...I left a couple more for them to give him with his dinner....One fellow visits with his wife 3 times a day...She just lays in her reclining wheel chair and he pushes her all over the place and then feeds her...He said, she's been like this for 4 years and is now down to 65 pounds...My heart just breaks when I see them together..This is what you call true love....
After our visit, I stopped at Walmart for, what else, cat food and treats....And I got another great surprise....Since I switched health insurance, there was a big mixup and I had to pay $93.00 for 1 of my RX...The gal kept saying this isn't right and thank goodness she kept after them and I will only have to pay $15.00...That was a good surprise.....
Because of the Penguin game being on tonight, Terry and I are leaving at 6:00 in the AM...Really hoping for a Penguin win and also hoping it doesn't go into overtime, lol....
So, hopefully everyone enjoyed their supper and are now ready to kick back and enjoy the evening.....
You all try to behave while I'm gone....I know for some, it might be hard, but let's just say, at least have fun.....
Have a great weekend.....................
