SUPPER CLUB - Monday, June 5th
Hello there!
Bill went to do the brakes on "Silver" yesterday and found they sent four left brakes instead of two left and two right. He wasn't happy. So he wrote an e-mail to Dexter Brakes and this morning they called to say they are over-nighting the right ones to him. So that job isn't finished yet, but at least now we have four tires on the ground again and I can go inside if I want. Well, now I don't want to! lol!
We are running to Tacoma this morning for a few errands today so I'll be stopping at Joann's for some ribbon and tiny craft buttons for a project I'm working on. I have two full button boxes (one was my mom's) and you'd think I wouldn't have to go buy more! So darn it! I 'have' to go to Joann's.
After our errands we'll get in an hour of wood and then it's a free day! Maybe I can get my project finished and after that finish my last International Sunbonnet Sue. I keep thinking I'm done and then another person signs up.
BECCA - so glad that little girl was OK. I think swimming lessons at a VERY early age should be mandatory. I think CPR should be, too.
TINA - your pond is too much work for me! I like just having a little fountain on our deck. With the only wildlife in it is the dog taking a drink!
The concoction I came up with last night was actually pretty good. Bill gave it two thumbs up -twice! And as is the nature of these kinds of things, I have leftovers from my leftovers so that will be supper again tonite.
What's on your menu for tonite?

Good morning
I'm just doing a quick post, I posted in the sew in this morning and wrote a book so now I'm about out of time. I'm going to go visit Mom and Dad, maybe just Mom cause Dad is upset by how Mom is treating him and said he was going home and see if their groomer can give Tinker Bell a bath.
Mary, or pond is a lot of work and I told Frankie that's the last time it's gonna be cleaned like that, if these pond cleaners and stuff I bought don't work then were taking the pond out. Frankie was still sore this morning and it's not worth it to me to make him hurt. We even talked about putting a small above ground one in so it wouldn't be anything to clean it because we're smarter now and know what it would need. .... mainly a drain LOL
I'm not sure about supper, maybe a burger on the grill.
Oh I almost forgot! We put the first treatment in the pond last night and wow what a difference this morning! I can see the bottom! It's an algae killer and even though the pond was really cleaned good when it was filled back up you couldn't see the bottom because you can't clean all the creases and folds or get 100% off it out but this stuff really does work! I'll keep you posted! Fingers crossed!

Good morning!
Mary - oh brakes - what a pesky nuisance they can be, but oh so needed! My boys did all the brakes jobs on their cars and put things on backwards sometimes.
Tina - moms can be big pains in you know where. I hope that the doctors continue to side with your Dad. I had problems dealing with my mom and it almost came down to declaring her unable to care for herself, but I didn't have to do that. Lots of prayers!
Becca - yes, you are the strawberry lady! Never heard of strawberry bread before, but it sounded yummy!
Well, dinner - we will see what the day holds after I help a friend with a sewing project. Michael is working on the railroad, so he will not bother anyone! Well, unless I come up with something he needs to do. Which I won't.
Enjoy!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, June 5th
Good afternoon from a kind of soggy, semi warm, semi sunny, SW. Pa....We really had a storm make it's way through the area early this morning and I had 2 fur babies, each trying to get under my blanket but thank goodness that passed...Those "people" are predicting rain every day and cooler temps for the rest of the week...Just when I put most of my sweat shirts away, darn!
Mary, I'd be in Bill's corner with those brakes, really upsets me when companies don't do their job...And something as important as brakes, can't leave home without em.....Gosh darn, you HAVE to stop at JoAnns!...I've been thinking, I have a niece getting married in Sept. and I really should be making a quilt so maybe I'll HAVE to stop and see what I come up with....Of course the quilt would be an Irish chain but just not sure if I can break down and make it in anything but green, lol....
I also agree about kids learning to swim...When we put in our pool, that was a must but sadly, just like Chickie, I never learned how...I imagine I could save myself (if close to the side or shallow water), but I've always had a fear of water and not sure why....
Becca, aka Strawberry Lady, love it! I too like strawberry anything but in a pie, it has to be fresh...Just did some shopping yesterday and it was buy 1 get 2 free, so guess who has lots of strawberries...Not sure what I'm going to be making, hoping to try your bread.....
Tina, I feel so bad for you and your Dad...Maybe it's best not to give your Mom the option, just move her to the rehab...Maybe she'd work harder wanting to go home....Boy, it's hard trying to do what's right...
I have always wanted to have a pond but after hearing all the work you've had to do on your's, I think I'll stick with my little fountain thingie in the flower bed...And as Mary, my wild creatures consist of Jake, the feral and some robins that come for a drink and sometimes bath (even though I do have a bird bath close by)....
Jana, and there she goes, busy as ever...Hope your day is a good one.....
Yesterday was a big day...After Mass, had coffee and donuts with a good friend, did a little shopping, then went to a DGS's graduation party...He had just graduated from Seton Hill with a History major and was our lacrosse star...His mother, Cindy, is an excellent cook and had scads of food...Then I went and visited with Jim until it was time for his dinner...I told him, they would be playing bingo today and he thought it was a good idea as long as he didn't have to work (shades of old).....
My day today is going to be one of those, do what you want and hope you accomplish something kind of day.....I am going to try to get more planting done...Thinking neighbor, Ted wasn't going to do tomatoes this year, I bought 4 plants...Well, guess who brought 3 more plants this morning..I didn't spade the garden, thank goodness I kept all those big litter containers...My garden will be very colorful, most of the containers are a bright yellow....So, hopefully, I'll be outside playing in the dirt (or mud)....
I did have a call from Kathy's son wanting me to go to dinner tonight with him and his gal friend...I keep hoping for an announcement although she, Casey, did tell me, when they do marry, it will be at the Columbus Zoo...These 2 love the zoos so this would be perfect...(Crazy kids, lol)....Casey went with me last week when I met with the funeral director about our plans...She was a little leery but it was a pleasant experience...A story for another time, lol....
As far as dinner, I'm excited and have no idea what I'll order...Haven't been to this place in awhile so it is special.....
Hope you all have a great day....
Happy eating.............
AND, tonight is the 4th game of the series and hopefully my Penguins will come out on top....Sadly, they lost Saturday night in Nashville, 5-1, oh the horror.....
GO PENS!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, June 5th
Good afternoon! I thought I’d make it this morning, but I stopped to pay some bills before noon.
Mary—have fun shopping! I used to have an amazing button collection. I love buttons! When I made clothes for DD, I always put cute buttons on them
Tina—I agree, your pond is way too much work! They are so pretty, though. I would like one out front, but instead I have rocks and creek gravel. I call it my dry pond. Glad your treatment is working! Our big ponds have algae and moss—sure makes it difficult for fishing! I’m so sorry your mom is giving your dad fits and that she doesn’t want to go to rehab. My heart goes out to him.
Becca—you are officially the Strawberry Lady! I remember when Strawberry Shortcake was popular. I think my DD had a doll, and I made clothes for her using SS fabric. Later the scraps were used in quilts.
A new calf story… This morning they were being really obnoxious pushing and shoving me. I was trying to get them to drink milk on their own instead of with my fingers in the buckets. They were having nothing of it and were swirling around me and butting me. I had hung the buckets of milk replacer on the fence and was having great difficulty with getting them to find them instead of me. Talk about Dim and Dimmer…! Well, all at once I was on the ground. My head had hit one of the pails, and I had milk dripping from my hair into my face. It really was too funny! DH saw me as he was getting ready to go to coffee, and he ran over to help me up. I was fine, and because I had the pails on the outside of the fence… NO POO PILES!!! DH had a great story to tell at coffee. I’m sure he pulled out all the descriptive words for my comic appearance! Of course, it was in to the shower for a good scrub. People pay big money for milk baths at spas; I get them every day at the farm—twice most days!
The gathering last night was fun. I managed to eat only a couple of bites of liver and onions, none of the other “stuff”, and lots of salad. Everyone had a good time. I also got to see the new little orphan calf. I’m not getting to take care of it. DGD is taking care of her, although I’ll probably get called to fill in from time to time. It’s a pretty little thing—all shiny deep glossy black and even smaller than Blackie was as a baby. They have her in the chicken house and pen, so she has great quarters.
Dinner tonight… DH’s request for pork chops with fried apples. I’ll find other stuff to go with the main event.
Bon appétit!
