Supper Club - Monday, May 22
Good Monday morning! Calves are fed and have run of the yard. In fact, I had to run down and close the gate to the road—caught the adventurers just as they were going through the gate to the big world. It would be a big mess if they got on the lake property—way too many acres and miles to hunt for them! I am guessing our “yard” is probably 10 acres—could be more. They have been going across the pond dam and exploring, then they came up from the ravine behind the pond… no place will go unexplored, I’m sure. Blackie has been getting around much better, and she actually trots slowly. She’s not kicking up her heels and running like Lint, but she’s still doing much better! When I caught them at the gate and shooed them so I could shut it, Pocket Lint came over and started rubbing her head on me… was she apologizing? Or just trying to get on my good side? They are always funny.
I just took a loaf of banana bread out of the oven, and it smells so good. Becca, I now have two loaves of your strawberry nut bread in the oven. The batter tasted awesome! I didn’t have enough honey, so I used half sugar and half agave. I had exactly enough strawberries to the berry! Pecans and berries are both from our farm.
Mary—if you see this… so, so, so relieved to hear Foxy returned safely. They sure can take lives off us with their carousing. Too bad they can’t talk! Or maybe it’s best…
Rose—happy anniversary! DH and I don’t really celebrate either.
Becca—sounds like such a cute birthday party! It’s so much fun to have videos and pictures instantly by e-mail or other social media.
Jana—I’m singing “Stormy Weather” as I read your post. We’re calm here for a few days.
I made a tamale pie/stuffed ancho peppers casserole the other evening. DH really liked it! I must confess… I used a tube of polenta instead of making my own. My DD made a tamale pie using it, and said it was delicious and saved time after work. I was surprised—really good!!! I sliced little medallions of the polenta for the crust... easy peasy!
We might have the last of the casserole this evening, or I might fix some of la fruta del mar. Our hunter was back and brought goodies this weekend. I’m hoping to get some time in my sewing room today; it’s feeling real neglected.
Bon appétit!

Morning all.
We are 100 degrees today, I have to get outside early to walk, then soak all the roses and lemon tree. No trimming or cutting today, it is too hot all ready. Monday's, when DH goes back to work, I usually clean of the kitchen and our new stainless stove. After a weekend of cooking DH has usually messed it up really good and I need him out of the way to get it all clean again. So that is my job this morning between the soakings.
The pm I go to my QLC club, our 6 person group that gets together every other week to sew and have "tea and crumpets". Everyone brings hand sewing so that is the time I use to work on my EPP for the Quatro Color quilt I am doing. Meanwhile I am working on the Jinny Beyer quilt for my DH's office manager who is retiring with him. She has been with him for 25 years. it is slow going because of all the applique and those blocks with so many y seams.
MaryZ - so glad Foxy came home! How is the weather in Pt. Townsend. Haven't heard from my brother lately so I don't know.
Farm Chick - have fun chasing around all those animals.
Becca - did you read my suggestion about menus for your husband a few days ago? Do you think it would help?
Well, back to scrubbing the floor. You all have a wonderful week.

Good morning!
Just got back from Lowes. We have children, so Michael's tools have legs, so they walk off. He needs a couple of pipe wrenches to get the new backflow preventer installed. When he is done, we can start to wster the lawns again. The rains were a blessing yesterday. Today we are heating up into the 80's.
Chickie - jail break! Just like my kids, they know when the gates are open. Lint is a good mentor to Blackie. She'll be kicking up her heels soon.
Linda - 100 already? I remember visiting my aunt and uncle, when they lived in Hanford and Fresno - it was always hot in the summer.
Humm - dinner - we have been eating what's easy to fix, so i still have my chicken and one pot meal i can cook. One will make it to the table tonight.
A few uglies, then play time.
Enjoy,
Jana

Linda—I wilt at 85 and curl up in the AC at 100! I used to love 100-degree temperatures, but no more. 80 feels like 100 to me now. Are you using Jinny Beyer fabrics, too? They are always so beautiful. I’d love to have a group to sit and stitch with. Good luck with the stove! I really should do floors, but I’m headed to my sewing room for a “break”.
Jana—it seems like yesterday you woke up to snow! With cows and calves, they definitely think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence/road. I’ve walked down and shut the gate three times today—1. This morning when I caught the little buggers trying to make their escape. 2. Because 15 minutes DH came home and said, “I didn’t see the calves and left the gate open.” (They were hiding behind some trees nearby. 3. When the UPS guy left, I told him I’d go do it since he had already opened and shut it bringing an order.
And… speaking of orders. My cabinet hardware came… or it didn’t. Inside the box was a packing list and merchandise for someone else. So, I had to re-order. My new handles ship tomorrow.
Becca--I love the strawberry bread! DH likes banana best, but he said the strawberry bread was real good. I'm keeping the recipe and will make it again!
I'm off to have some time with my Pfaff...

Re: Supper Club - Monday, May 22
Me again - just learned that my little Emma had a teeter-totter accident about 2 weeks ago and they found out today that she broke her arm. The break has already started healing, so she is in a cast for another three weeks and the doctor will re-xray the arm to see how it's healing. If not, they will have to re-break and start all over. Seems we have been here before - with Stu's hand. Matt found the break last night as he reached to hold her hand and as he did, Emma screamed with pain. Hence the trip today to the doctor. Emma just favored the arm and there was no other signs of a break.
Never a dull moment here - i just think tbere is! LOL
