Good Morning,
What a nice day yesterday! I think we were about 65* and sunny. I finished up my spring cleaning and joined Bill out on the deck for a glass of chardonnay to celebrate everything on my to-do list being crossed off! Yay!
And in other news, while Vicki was out to lunch yesterday (no pun intended) Bill went looking for our owl and found it dumped into the brush at the back of her property. It's pretty heavy and she only got about 20 feet before she had to jetison it. So he liberated it and brought it home. It's now living on the other side of our yard, out of Vicki's sight. That's the only thing she's done in the past two weeks that affected us, except for sitting in her table and chairs she put right at the property line and watching us.
Today is a play day for me! I might do a little yard work, but mostly I'll hang out in my sewing room. I still have one last FGV block to finish and then I can start putting it all together.
CHICKIE - saying prayers to St. Francis of Assisi (patron saint of animals) for Blackie's full recovery. It's amazing that Lint was able to get across that cattle guard! I can hardly cross them without incident. She really had a big adventure to tell Blackie about The Big World. And The Big Cows!
JANA - if you need a birthday or Christmas gift for Matt, a subscription to Trailer Life magazine is a good one. We've gotten it for years and there is all kinds of valuable information in it. It won't take him long to get polished at backing. Though years ago we worked with a couple at firecamp in Julian, CA. They lived full time in their 38-ft fifth-wheel. He always did the driving but couldn't back it up. But she could! So whenever they had to park it, she did the backing. Have you given Ruby a good work-out yet?
BECCA - nothing in this house sparkles so don't be bringing any white gloves through my door! But at least we are dust free for a while. lol!
I received CT's catalog Saturday and they have 1200 yd spools of Essential thread on sale. It's about half the price I usually pay for Gutterman's. But it's cotton and I'm wondering if it will be more linty than the polyester I'm accustomed to. Has anyone here used much Essential thread? I need to make a decision because I'm getting low on many colors and I need to restock.
Now on to supper - I think I'll make a one-pan chicken & pasta dish - no sauce but olive oil, basil, and garlic. sort of a pesto.
What's going onto your plate tonite?

Good morning!
The meatloaf dinner that ws to appear last night will try again today.
Mary - thanks for the magazine idea. I have told Crenda that she needs to learn to drive the rig as well, but i doubt that will ever happen. So glad the owl was found and moved.
I still haven't got Ruby down to the Batt Cave. With church and teaching, then the violent thunderstorms, it's a good thing she is still in the box. That would be all i need, to have one of those strikes hit the house and poof all my surge protectors. She is heading down there with me today.
We will get Ethan at preschool and he will come play for a time.
The funeral is Wednesday morning. The family lives up north of me, so it will be about a hour's drive. Because of my brother's dealings with me, i will just slip in quietly in the back and not give him the chance to make a scene at the service. He would do just that, given a chance. So sad that he feels the way he does.
Well time to feed Michael and have him haul Ruby to the cave,
Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! Dinner with family last night was so neat! They grilled burgers, brats and breasts (chicken!). Michelle had sides of baked beans and cornbread casserole as well as burger fixin’s. I took brownies, chips, pico de gallo and guacamole. The guac and pico were practically inhaled by all (except DH—he’s no fan).
Mary—that would be so creepy having a neighbor sit and stare at you… You wonder what’s going on in her head… Hope the owl likes it’s new home and scares off varmints!
Blackie seems better for the poo thing. Hope she gains strength quickly. Every so often something crosses the cattle guard—calves and once in awhile cows. DH likes them best so he doesn’t have to open and close gates. I’d prefer the gates because I think the guards are dangerous… this one especially. No calf stories today other than I found my strawberry pot that I planted with begonias in shards. Apparently Lint knocked it off the rock wall. No big deal… I’d glued it together ages ago, but I don’t think I’ll try to salvage it this time. I’m going to plant the begonias in a cast iron pot on the porch. I’d forgotten to get plants for it anyway.
I always find good stuff on sale in the CT catalog. I want to order some of the needles. I’ve used some Essential thread, and it doesn’t have any more lint than most other cottons. I generally use cotton thread.
Jana—I’m so excited about all those features on your new machine! Guess I need to read all the Prairie Quilt newsletters more closely. That’s where I ordered my Pfaff—pre-owned with a heafty discount. DH would really have a conniption if I wanted to upgrade again. Maybe I’ll just dream awhile… So sorry your brother harbors such hurtful feelings, but I sure know how families work… mine has its share of the same.
Dinner tonight… I’m thinking ravioli with meat sauce and a salad. I’ll have to figure out something for dessert because the entre and salad are not DH favorites. I also have asparagus. Maybe I could do the ravioli and asparagus in an alfredo sauce with a meat patty on the side… Hummmmmm… still a little early to work on dinner.
Bon appétit!

Good morning

Glad you got your owl back Mary, did Bill camouflage himself and go looking in stealth mode? I picture him doing that hehehe

Jana, sorry about your brother, I can relate unfortunately.
Chickie, your family supper sounds great!
I'm still not feeling good yet but I think if I had a day to just relax it would do me a world of good. ....3 weeks till school is out and my summer vacation starts!
My back yard it's all cleaned back up and looking really nice

there's still 1 big patch of cement to do and 3 small ones but I don't want to do have those done until September out October when it'll be cool again, I don't like them doing that work in the heat and we've already been in the 90's.
I made flautas lay night and Spanish rice, yummy

tonight we may be eating with Frankie's sister and BIL, if not it'll be the leftover flautas for supper here.

Hi ladies, I am at our son's. We came yesterday for DGD confirmation. Stayed overnight as we have physicals at family doctor today, then we will get our pontoon down to Shelbyville for the summer.
Hard part is killing time until 2:15.
Son treated us to his homemade BBQ ribs that he did with his smoker. OMG were they tender and delicious!
Today we will no doubt be enroute to campground at dinner time. Will catch a quick sandwich.
Mary how creepy to know neighbor is always watching you.
Hope all the rest of you, enjoy your day.

Morning!
Yesterday we had a inch of rain (1 drop every inch), after having 3 days of 100. Today will be sunny with high clouds, and in the 70's.
Today is my quilting group from 1-4:30, so that leaves me only the morning to get the kitchen cleaned. DH cooked up a storm yesterday, making 3 entrees for future dinners: stuffed cabbage, turkey chili and meatloaf. We had the cabbage last night but he forgot to put in the chopped onions, so it was bland. He won't eat the leftovers, so that means I have lunches all week. Tonight we will have the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and asparagus. He is saving the turkey chili for when I am gone for 2 weeks in June. Quick meals for him.
Mary, it is funny and sad to hear about your trials with Vicky. We live on a corner, next to an orchard and have an alley so we have only 1 close neighbor next to us. Their garage side door is just on the other side of our fence outside my bathroom. That would be fine, ordinarily, but the new occupants are Mexican and who knows how many live there. The men gather outside that garage door in the little side yard and drink, swear, fart, belch and smoke marijuana. I can't open my bathroom window in the afternoons or evenings. Sometimes they throw their trash over the fence into my little tomato patch. Lately they have installed a knife throwing target in the backyard and now we are finding the throwing knives in our backyard. Who is going to confront someone who is becoming skilled at throwing knives!!
Yesterday, while we were sitting at the kitchen table which faces to the east, across the street we saw 3 big brown birds exploring the neighbors's front yards. At first I thought they were Canadian geese, but when DH got the binoculars out we saw they were peahens. No ideas where they came from (we don't hear peacocks screaming) or where they were going or what happened to them. We just watching them make their way down the street, sometimes flying up to the roofs and jump/flying from roof to roof.
Got to get busy now, you all are just as busy as I am. Take care, and prayers for all those in need.

Good afternoon -
You can get many things done when you have no internet service for most of the day.
Ruby is out of the box and in her new home. This will be a temporary home, as she is longer that my old machine and doesn't quite fit on the electric lift I have for my sewing machine. Ruby does sew wonderfully.
I have been studying the manual and locating each and every button on the sewing machine. I couldn't find the lever to lower and raise the presser foot. No where on the machine! Then i saw that I have icon buttons that will raise and lower the foot, as well as hover above what you are sewing, so that you can pivot the fabric to turn corners and curves. It also have a secondary position that raises the foot higher, so you can slip in thicker fabrics. Still looking for the function that will clean my house! Oh, yes, I can change all the sounds on the machine to music that I like, if I choose to. Sheesh!
Well time to get started with dinner around here - Michael and Stu are traipsing around the neighborhood looking for the place the construction guys messed up to see how it feeds my house. A guy thing!
Enjoy
