SUPPER CLUB - Monday, May 1st

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon May 01, 2017 3:49 am

Good morning,

Not raining this morning, so looks like our daily walk is ON! We only skip if it's raining hard. And later this morning I have another chiropractor appointment. Adjustments are sure different than they were years ago. Now he runs a sort of vibrating gun up and down my spine. It sounds kind of like an automatic rifle, which got my attention at first. But it sure does work! I've been spring cleaning all weekend long and my back/neck are no worse for it,and much better than they were a week ago.

Today will be cleaning my sewing room and dealing with all the fall-out from the other rooms that has collected in the hallway. Then I will have the upstairs all finished! yay! Downstairs in our big family/TV room and our bedroom and master bath. That will be the project for this coming week. After that comes the garage. My daddy always said "no rest for the wicked". I sort of wondered as a kid, what he meant by that. Now I guess I know. . .

CHRISS - did you get your steak yesterday? And did you get to play in your room? Did you finish your home project for your DS and DDIL? How's the mermaid quilt coming? It's a baby quilt for a co-worker, right?

TINA - aren't you the clever wife! I'd jump on that great idea of Frankie's before he forgets he had it! Is the den further down your hallway? I don't want to get lost next time I visit!

JANA - I love open galley nights. But since breakfast at our house is just that about 360 days a year, I figure I should probably at least dish up the supper heat'n'eats. Lol!

CHICKIE - what a day you had yesterday!! Glad the calves were tucked into the garage, safe and dry. But so sorry you had to go out in all that dangerous weather so late at night! I don't do dark, so anything after sundown is 'not my job, Mon!' No tornadoes within 5 miles of you?? Heck! I wouldn't feel safe if tornadoes were within 5 STATES of me! The ones in Texas sure got my attention.

LINDA - good luck with retirement! At least your DH seems to enjoy cooking so he can immerse himself in that. But most wives I know have worked hard to stay out of death row that first year of adjustment after hubby retires. I know I did. Bill was used to being the boss of a team. All he had after he retired was me. and who knew, after 50 years of doing laundry, I WAS DOING IT ALL WRONG!! And while he wasn't willing to take it on himself, he WAS happy to show me the error of my ways. Also, turns out my kitchen was arranged all wrong, too. Again, he wasn't willing to do any cooking, but he felt he should have a say in where everything went. Truly, it's a wonder the man still breathes. One word of advice, if he doesn't have a hobby, get him one! Plus, I think as retirement gift, you should take him on a wine-tasting trip to SE Washington . . . if you like wine that is. We might even join you. . .

IRISH - I owe you an e-mail but keep getting engrossed in things not on the computer. Today! I promise! Sending you much love!!

BECCA - I'm sure you will be busy today. Isn't your niece arriving tomorrow for a 2-day visit?

Supper tonite? Let's see what the weather is going to do. If it's at all nice, we'll grill those chops I talked about last week and add a packet of potatoes with onions and cheese. OR - maybe minestrone soup. I have fresh veggies that need using.

What's the word from your kitchen?

Good morning :o)
I'm on here before the natives get restless ;o)
Poor Easton isn't feeling very good so he's just vegging in front of the tv, he looks like he'll fall asleep...hopefully. Preston didn't want breakfast yet so I have a few minutes.
We were out back all day yesterday and boy was I tired and hurting by the time we did get inside. It was nice to have those burgers on the grill and the corn on the cob and salad, not much fuss or mess :o)
Mary, I think the moving will take place next weekend as soon as the cement is poured, that takes awhile though because we make our own cement in our little cement mixer that I bought when I worked.....it's gotten a lot of use over the years and has saved us tons of money. I was thinking that the cement work would be finished with this time but Frankie said it's too big of a space to do all at once, he's just concentrating on connecting the 2 sidewalks so it's all the same levelness for me to walk around.
I know the last corn on the cob is for supper and salad but I haven't a clue what's going with them.
Tina

Good Morning!

Bill's clone lives in this house! Michael still tries to rearrange how things are done in this house! He gets the look and then I ignore his ideas. There are times, he does come up with a good one though. I had practice with him working at home for about 10 years before he retired to semi house train him. LOL Still trying !

We finally have sunshine and warming weather. A little rain tomorrow, but getting up to the 80's by the end of the week.

Dinner - hamburger gravy over mashed taters and asparagus.

For eating what we had, we were rewarded with a homemade apple pie. Crenda made it and the kids all came out to share with us. It was YummYou! Home grown apples that her mom grows and cans in to a yummy Filling!

Well, i need to get going,
Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! No rain today!!! Doing the Happy, Happy Dance!!! The calves went to their pen last evening, so I didn’t try to get them in the garage again. I don’t think it rained in the night, so all was good. Now, we need some drying out, and the forecast is for WIND today. When I was out feeding this morning, the wind chill was 33! That’s insane for May!!! I dumped out their sodden feed and replaced with dry. I’m sure the birds will have a field day with the wet as it dries. I left the gate open, so now they are yard calves again and off to the brambles. They really are funny and sweet. Lint is almost three weeks older, and she seems to look out for her little pal. I guess since the bull was the father, they are half sisters??? I’m hoping for some sunshine, but that seems to have been left out of the forecast.

Anyway, Happy May Day! We used to have festivals in SF grade school and dance the maypole. I loved it!!! I used to find flowers and take them and put them on doorknobs in paper cones. Such fun!

Mary—I must be super evil, as there never seems to be much rest around here. I’m not complaining… much. If it’s animal-related, I don’t mind it… just the cooking and cleaning I mind. We taped some tv shows the other evening, and it was pretty much impossible to watch them with all the weather breaking interruptions for across the viewing area. I’m pretty used to being out in the dark… on my broom! There are people who believe that!!! … do you???

Linda—Mary gave excellent advice! Thankfully, my DH found the geezer coffee klatch and goes every morning rain, sleet or snow! It gives me a couple of hours to myself to get things done here! Those guys have all the community news, and solve the world problems over their coffee cups. Well, they think they do! Don’t get any rental properties for him to take care of--I hate having to help clean ours!!! Just saying! My DH was also a manager. I let him think he’s still in charge.

Becca--BLTs sound so good! I don’t think I have any B. I have to cook tonight as we cleaned up leftovers last evening. Your muffins sound delicious! I love my babies! All of them… calves, dogs… DH! He’s just a big baby and requires as much care… LOL! I was beginning to think I needed webbed feet or flippers to get around outside. It’s so muddy now! Of course, in a few weeks, the soil will be dry and cracked.

Tina—sounds like you had a good day yesterday, even if you were tired and hurting. Anything outdoors is better than cooking and cleaning inside! I remember Grandpa mixing his own cement in a wooden box he made. He’d work it with a hoe and mix it. I think those cement mixers would be a huge help! Hope your little guys feel better—never easy taking care of sick babies!

Time to get busy… DH will be wanting brunch in a few. Some days he is gone longer than 2 hours… nice! Only problem is I never know when to start fixing brunch.

Dinner tonight… I need to go raid the freezer. I’m also thinking maybe a frittata and salad. Guess I’ll think more about it closer to dinnertime…

Bon appétit!

Good morning,

last night it was McDonalds. yuck. Today after work I do grandma's grocery shopping. My job is to pick up something for dinner. I'm thinking cold cuts and cheese. It's warming up and a big hot meal isn't enticing.

Maryz, yes, I got my steak, Yes, I played in my room. I've decided not to do the mermaid quilt. I saw some cute onsies at Target and will get some of those. The mermaids are fused but not sewn down.

Chickie. I remember putting May Day flowers on door knobs, knocking and running to hide and watch them open the door. it was fun.

Jana, when Jerry makes pie he usually eats most of it himself. I'm really not a big sweet eater. but home made canned apple filling sounds wonderful. bet it would be good heated over ice cream.

Tina, sounds like a big cement job and lots of hard work. I love corn on the cob, it's a meal itself

See ya' after work.
