SUPPER CLUB - Friday, April 28th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Apr 28, 2017 3:19 am

Good Morning!

After a gentle rain through the night, we have singing birds and a fresh smell in the air. Going to be a beauty of a day! And we have more in the forecast! I got outside for a few hours yesterday and placed more of my summer yard art and planted five pots with pink impatients. Felt good to get a little Vit D all over me.

I guess I was talking in my sleep last night. Bill told me I said, plain as day, "Sue, that is a willow." I only know one Sue - Kenderosa Sue and she is coming to visit in two weeks. Maybe I was thinking of her . . . but about willows?

APS visited Vicki yesterday. The result is that after three reports have been made to them about her, they said they found nothing to indicate she is a danger to herself (and that's all they care about) so they will be making no moves to help her. Possibly looking for some services like Meals on Wheels or a bi-weekly bath aide is the most they will do. Kids said, "Mom turned on her charm" and bluffed her way through. The poor kids are ready to tear their hair out. So we will all carry on as we have been, but at least we and the kids are sort of united in this now.

JOANNE - I hope you are joining us again today - and every day from now on! Sweetened our supper knowing you were back! I hope you got my message about flannel fat backs. I usually end just piecing mine.

CHICKIE - from the stories we hear, you have scars from your current disasters, too! lol! sorry. Shouldn't tease. But you broke the rules last night with your supper so now you must pay the price. Our weather is really odd, too. And you are right - the climate is changing. It has changed for millions of years, so why would it stop now just because we are here.

BECCA - What's this kidney thing? Are you getting another UTI? Not a stone! They seem to be going around!

JANA - Good for you, helping Michael solve his problem! and he listened! Good for him!! I hope you get your well-deserved fabric!

CHRISS - I've been trying to get here early in the morning. Just can't git 'er dun in time for you though. You've never had a sweet potato?? Easiest way to fix them, and it's our favorite. Just bake, butter, and S&P. YUM!!

TINA - there you are! We've been missing you. I thought I was going to have to come get you! your dinner sounds delicious! And well within the rules. Maybe you could have a talk with Chickie for me . . .

Tonite - no cooking for me!! Neener Neener! We are going to our friends', Tex & Annette. (and yes, he is from Texas, long ago). I think there will be ten folks there. And BECCA, you said you are getting transition lenses. Annette's brother is the eye doctor who invented them. I've never met him, though. So the menu is going to be spaghetti and I'm taking dessert. I know CHRISS asked earlier in the week what it would be and now I know! Black Forest Layered Dessert. It has five layers, shortbread crust, cream cheese mixture, chocolate pudding mixture, cherry pie filling, and whipped topping. I'll be making it this morning so it can chill. I've never made it but it sounds good, doesn't it?

Wishing you all a good day with good food!

Good morning! We have liquid sunshine here! I feed the calves in dripping sun… ha! At least my floppy hat keeps that ole sunshine from running down my back. The yard calves enjoyed exploring yesterday. I “lost” them several times and had to hunt for them. The last time they were both over in the blackberry brambles. I had to go over there with a bucket of milk to get them to come home. They followed more by wrapping themselves around me and impeding my picking myself through the tall grass and brambles without spilling myself or the bucket of milk. They both thought they needed fingers to suck to guide them, so it was quite a funny parade across the yard—maybe the distance of a football field. We’re supposed to have rain for three more days.

Good grief! Why is it that the APS are so easily bluffed? I know my MIL and late DH could absolutely do the same thing when it served them for doctors or visitors. I can’t see Vicki liking meals on wheels. Wonder if she would tolerate a bath aide. My mom refuses meals on wheels, so my sister and BIL do all of her meals unless they are gone and I step in. (She doesn’t think I cook as well as them, so I’m just a last resort.)

Chriss—I love tamale pie! I’ll have to make it this week. I crave tamales all the time. If you ever get hard up for money, you can rent Jerry’s chef abilities out for big bucks!!! I think you can call him your personal chef! You are both lucky, and so is Mar!!!

Joanne—if I had a Mama’s Grill that nearby… no cooking for me… ever!!!

Irish—know you’re out there… we’re thinking about you and lifting you up. Hope you have a better day today!!!

Becca—sure hope you’re not getting sick! Lots of crud going around here.

Jana—you deserve a reward… soft cottons!!!

I’m making a big cookie today with the local junior college’s logo on it. It’s for a “gourmet dessert” auction and fundraiser. I’m not sure a chocolate chip cookie is exactly “gourmet”, but DDIL’s sister is in charge of the auction, and she had DDIL talk me into making one. Hope it brings a buck!

Well, dinner tonight… I’m breaking all the rules again… leftovers of those goodies. DH wanted cornbread, so there was an iron skillet of it, and only about half left. That's plenty! A big salad sounds good to me.

Bon appetit!

Good morning :)
APS let my uncle pull the wool over their eyes, he was holding my aunt prisoner in their home and would call the sheriff on her if she left and when he wanted to go to the casino he'd admit her in a psych ward for 72 hour observation, after the 3rd time of that the hospital said they wouldn't accept her anymore because she's fine. He made her last 2-3 years awful for her. I'm the one that called APS on him and they wouldn't make him leave so they could talk to my aunt in private so she could tell them what was going on, I have no faith in that system at all.
I might be joining Chickie tonight with her supper plans, oops Mary LOL
Hi Sue!

Hello everyone,A warm sunny day here.
For my easy day I couldn't stand many of them.I did all the floors, dusted ,stripped beds,Washed laundry,Flipped the mattresses,Did the baseboards,
And that's just this morning. Now hope to do some hand work.

Maryz I'm afraid it's the Kidneys & UTI.It gets so old & I hate antibodics.Thats too bad about Vicky charming them. They should know older people can do that.Sure hope you & kids can work it out.Your dessert sounds good.My DH would love it.Thats neat about the Dr that invented transition lens. They are wonderful things.

Chickie You Sure know how to paint a great picture of yourself and the babies.Donhope the sun comes You way very soon.If your DS is a better cook than you I would love to try her food.Im afraid Mom is being partial in that case.I vote for you. Lol

Jana Sure hope you do get a reward for your excellent advice.

Tina Glad you were able to fly by to see us.We miss you.

Irish Thinking of you & praying it's not bad in your neighbor hood.DHs Visit to Dr on Tues just about drove me up & over the wall.We sat in that little office waiting for 40 mins & he was like a cat on a hot tin roof.My neuralgia has been really bad ever since.
Oh well it's never a dull moment here.Hugs

Chris's Yes me niece comes next Wed & Thurs.I have the room ready. And got my food I need.Shes a yoga instructor & is going to a convention or something along that line.We are the half way point.
I too would love a full time chef.

Joanne Hope you come back for a chat.

Rose All that fruit makes my mouth water.Yum.

We are having homemade pizza here with salad. His half is meat & mine veggie. Becca

Thank you all for the warm welcome back! It's good to be missed.

I had to stick to the front door today---my Rx was coming and I have to sign for it--I hate that, I don't dare go to the bathroom...lol!
Luckily it came at noon, so I was free for half the day.

Earls on the porch and it's almost time for dinner so I can't linger.
Off to Mama's Grill again! Love you all!!

Hugs, Joanne

Good late afternoon!

Joanne - good to see you and that you are keeping Mama's busy!

Chriss - we get in trouble with Mary all the time for the banned food around here - mayonaise isn't on the banned list! I like to mix it with ketchup to make one of the well known dishes of Utah - fry sauce - just combine the two and you have a great dip sauce for french fries or many other things.

Well, I got home too late yesterday to start the spaghetti and meatballs. We ate the leftovers, so tonight I will see if I get them done - if not, there is always tomorrow! Isn't there a song that goes that way?

Well, back to my quilt - I keep fussy over how I am going to quilt it, but have finally come upon a plan, so I think.

The tire is fixed - expensive, but they offered to add all the other tires on the Highlander on a road hazard plan that will replace or fix.

Enjoy
Jana

Maryz, I don't mind checking in after work. Besides I barely have time to post in the sewin before work. I bet that the meals on wheels people and any home aides that come in will be a big help in getting Vicky help. After all, you are just the neighbor and the kids are just the kids. An outsider will have an unbiased opinion....and hey, you know Sunbonnet Sue. I won't be having your black forest dessert. Just as you don't like F**h I don't think that fruit and chocolate should be combined. Hey, we all have our things.

Chickie, It was decided I would cook my grandma's meals. but she would re-heat them in a toaster oven where they would dry out. so that made me a bad cook too. LOL. guess we will have to settle for second best. I think your big cookie will do well at the auction.

Tina, CPS is just as awful as APS. when we were going though all the stuff to get custody of Marilyn Jerry filed a grand jury report on the. The grad jury decision was that if we wanted to take it further we needed to file a federal grand jury report. and our adoption moved along quickly after that.

Becca, Jerry used to often make pizza. now I just stop by papa murphys on the way home. Lucky you being the half way house for your niece. LOL.

Joanne, what is the best think that Mamma's grill cooks?

Jana, glad those tires are fixed. Isn't ketchup and Mayo what they make Russian dressing out of?

tonight is fend for yourself night. I'm thinking a turkey sandwich.

It's crazy windy here. I'd like to put my mermaid quilt together. It's a baby quilt for a gal at work. I think, if I work at it I can get it ready for binding by the end of the weekend.

You gals have a great night.
