Good morning!
It's wet outside this morning, but not raining at the moment. Would be nice if it held off for a few more hours until we can get out of town at least. And south of Tacoma. We are going south on I-5 to Portland and then turning east on I-84 and going about 100 miles along the Columbia on the Oregon side. We're going to spend tonite out on a huge sand bar along the Columbia River. Our friends will be coming from AZ and join us about 4:00 pm. Tomorrow we'll mosey on up to Yakima in Central WA and stay for four more nights. There are tons of wineries, thrift shops, a few quilt shops, and miles of walking trails. Lots to do! Plus I have a small sewing project on board, a shelf full of books, a ton of videos, and cupboard filled with board games. We should be good. Scottie and the Cats will be along, as well. Our DGS, Drew, will be checking on our house every day when he gets off work to see what Ms. Vicki is doing.
She hasn't moved any items onto our property for five days now, but she has taken to throwing food onto our grass and concrete. Eggs, fruit, avocadoes, noodles, shredded cheese, etc. Good food, too! and she put a frozen gallon of milk upside down on one of our tractor attachements and it left a milky trail running down our cement as it thawed. This is all food her kids are buying her and it's wasn't spoiled. Scottie thinks of it as his personal buffet and it's made him sick at least once. We've documented everything and sent photos to her kids. Also, Bill made some calls to health dept and to elder protective services just to get info on avenues to pursue if necessary. We sent all that info to her kids, too. They made a doctor appointment for her and are hoping she will be willing to try a new med. Vicki's brother who also has Huntington's, says this med is a wonder drug so she is slightly open to trying it. Cross your fingers for us all!
BECCA - we might just have to ask you for that recipe for strawberry bread! These loaves would make such nice gifts, which I believe you already do. On this coast, it would be very unique!
IRISH - I think you, Chickie, Becca, and I are all of a mind about meat. We eat some, but could easily be vegetarian. Unless there's bacon. I do love bacon.
) Is your back any better today? I was feeling bad about MY back until I read your post. You win! Or is it lose? Anyway, I so hope you are feeling better. I have exercises that I do that help some. but hard to exercise at all when it hurts to move! Does your grocery store deliver groceeries? some do . . Your X-Stitch sounds beautiful! Your friend will love it! I will try to remember photos!
CHICKIE - how are your babies doing with their buckets? Such a comedy! you really should make a video and put it on FB! From your description, you'd be a sensation!
JANA - How is Gracie feeling? Is she all better? Croup can last a long time. and yeah, Bill always asks me why I clean BEFORE a lot of people come over. He says wait until they all leave and then clean! It makes sense . . . But I just can't do it that way. I end up doing two cleanings.
CAROL(e)(s) - we miss you all! You must be skin and bones by now!
TINA - I expect you are having a big crowd at your house tomorrow and are busy doing your pre-cleaning and cooking! How are you feeling? Has that kidney stone passed yet? My Michael was prone to them and his doctor said to cut down on calcium intake. I don't know if that helped. What's the word on mom? And what is new baby's due date? I think you told us but I've already forgotten. October? Close to the boys' birthdays, right?
Well, we will be hitting the road this morning. We only have about a 4-hour drive today so no hurry. We'll wait for rush hour to be over. Our friends won't be arriving until about 4:00pm. Weather is supposed to be pretty nice - dry and 10 degrees warmer than here! Whoo Hoo! Scottie can romp and play in the sand and track it into the trailer. Fun!!
We'll be back next Thursday but I may be able to check in by phone now and then. No computers this trip. Happy Easter and happy suppers to you all!
