SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, March 23rd

Good Morning, and welcome to my birthday! Seems like it comes around about every 3 months now. They say when you get to the 'other side of the hill', you start rolling down it. At least that's the way things seem to be going lol!

BECCA - good morning, birthday bud! Hope your weather is better today. We had a windy, showery, cold afternoon. I stayed inside! I hope the home sales on your road bring you some nice neighbors. They are building over 100 new homes within 1/2 miles of my house. I don't think I'll meet all the new neighbors.

CHICKIE - I did that with my babies, too, after a month or so - added a bit of cereal to their bottles and enlarged the nipple holes a bit! Worked great! ;o) Bring on the noodles! Bring on the rice! Bring on the potatoes! oh, gosh, just put all the carbs next to my plate and I'll help myself! YUM! No, kids don't feel the cold. When I was little I'd play for hours in the river when we were camping. That river was ice-melt! Our little legs would be blue and we never noticed or careed! We just had fun.

JANA - did the kids get any painting done yesterday? When is their first night in the new house? I'm so excited for them! I'm so sorry about your baby quilt! We've occasionally found our cats making use of that great hammock we set up "just for their comfort". We are fortunate in that we can close the door on our LA. maybe if you get a NEW tarp and toss it over the LA, it will deter kitties. And give Perry a hug for me!

TINA - I just read your text that your mom is back in the hospital with pneumonia. I hope all goes well - for her and for YOU!

IRISH - I loved your photo with your sister! You are both so lovely and have sparkly eyes! She looks like a lot of fun! I think we all have visions of our home being sparkly and clean! But here, anyway, that's all it is - a vision.

Tonite we're going out to dinner to a new-to-us restaurant. We have a gift certificate and it's time to use it! So I have no idea what supper will be. Tomorrow my son and DDIL (Mike & Emily) are coming to our house in the afternoon to cook a meal. Not sure what that's going to be either. But they know the rules!! ;o)

Hugs around today!

Good morning :)
Mary, I could go for eating out or even someone coming over and cooking, sounds like today and tomorrow will be a fun time for you and Bill.
Oh my goodness Jana, I'm so sorry! I would've cried. I try to shut my sewing room door whenever kitties come inside unless I'm in my sewing room with them, Sammy girl loves to come in and watch me :)
I had posted on Facebook that I thought mom had been in the hospital for pneumonia at least 4 times in the last 5 months but I realized this morning it's been 6 times since just before thanksgiving. Plus she had congestive heart failure and some other problems.
We ended up eating breakfast for supper last night because I just haven't been in the cooking and eating mood, makes it hard to figure what to eat. And I still don't know what to make tonight. ... ugh. Can someone just tell me what to make do I don't have to make the decision?

I decided on chicken strips. ..I make them with crushed Ritz crackers, sesame seeds and mustard and other stuff and Frankie loves them so I have chicken thawing and we have fresh asparagus and probably a salad. ... I'm trying to eat more and more veggies than anything else.

Good afternoon from a very sunny, getting warmer, (not as warm as Becca's), SW. Pa....Hopefully, going to be a good day....

Mary, Happy Birthday and all the good stuff that comes with it..I'd say, you will be having good stuff, going out for dinner and then having your own personal chefs take care of you...As Chriss would say, it's good to be you....Had to laugh about "the other side of the hill"...Well, kiddo, when you get to be my age, I feel like that hill is ice coated and my shoes have no traction..And to boot, someone is at the top giving me a push!

Chickie, I know you week is a good one...Having a young one in the house is always good, wish I could have mine more often...AND of course, raising a new baby, that is special...And I'm like Mary, bring on the carbs...I could live on potatoes, any kind, but like to throw in some noodles every once in awhile....Just thinking of it now, I might have to have buttered noodles today....

Becca, good idea about the big sister quilt..With the excitement of twins, big sis might feel a little left out....Here you are home from doing your errands and I have yet to begin...We've been up most of the night so we're really getting a late start but that's OK...It's not like we're doing anything that has a deadline....The best part of retirement is doing what you want when you want, most times, lol....Enjoy your day.....

Tina, so sorry to hear about all the problems with your Mom...Do you think maybe her outlook or attitude is because she's scared or worried about her health and just striking out at everyone? So sad....AND, you my dear, you do need to take care of yourself..I usually have a buddy when I'm sewing and it never fails, if I happen to put something down, that's just where the fur kid makes her bed...I'm having a heck of a time with the quilt I'm going now because the friend is allergic to cats....

Well, girls, I do have good news, extra good news....Terry has accepted a job up here, giving his notice today and hopefully will be starting the new one right after Easter...Nick will be graduating June 10 and will stay in NC with his older brother until the house is sold or they also move up here....
AND, talked to Kathy and she and DH are coming for a visit the end of April...They want to help Cari and Matt move into their new house and then they'll come this way for a couple of days...I'm already planning that "family" get together....So exciting.........

And with that, I need to get my "running around" clothes on and we need to hit the road...Joann's is waiting!

As for dinner, I think I'm too excited to even think about our tummies....Hopefully, when we're at the grocery store, something will look good and if not, I'll depend on the car.....

You all have a great day,

Happy eating.................

Good afternoon! Busy day here, but so much WARMER!!! 25 degrees warmer than yesterday! We’ve checked cows and calves… no new ones; and we have feed Miss Lint and been to see Ava… I had to rearrange my sun room so DH could add a flat of watermelon and cantaloupe seeds he’s starting. I’ll wait until mid-April to set my pots of plants outside.

Mary—I’m a carb lover! Bread… name it and I’ll try it! I did the cereal in human baby and in calf baby. Someone mentioned the weaning to the bucket, and that’s how I do it… fingers down in the bucket for sucking and getting the milk replacer mixed with oatmeal then oats. They finally learn to suck up their food and don’t miss the fingers. Timi was a slow learner. I think she liked spending time with me!

When Timi was a calf in the barn and I was starting her on a bucket, Little Bit the cat appeared on the scene. She must have smelled milk and came. She would lap the dregs out of the bucket by balancing on the edge and sticking her head down in it. Soon she lost all fear and would balance on the edge of the bucket and lap while Timi was drinking the milk. It was funny to watch… before phones with video cameras… When the milk got down, Little Bit was still balancing and lapping the dregs. Well, Timi thought there should be more milk and started sucking on Little Bit’s tail while she was sipping. It all went to heck when Timi head butted Little Bit trying to get the milk to come down… Use your imagination to see cat flying!!! I started giving Little Bit a saucer of milk and a bowl of kitty food for her and her new kittens… She didn’t have to suffer the indignities of Timi and her tail!

Mary—know you are having a Happy Birthday!!! Hope your new restaurant is a winner!

Irish—glad to hear another carb lover! I resemble the Pillsbury Dough Boy for sure! Tasha is our youngest DGK—14 years old! Time sure flies!!!

Becca—I was sure the big sibling quilt was nothing new with a quiltmaker! They like playing mommy to their toy babies and are able to handle the real babies better.

Tina—hope your mom makes good progress in the hospital. Yes, I need to eat more veggies, too… sigh! Actually, I like veggies better than meat, so not too much of a problem except cooking two or even three meals for 2 or 3 people…

Jana—I would be sick, sick, sick. Hugs to you!!!

Dinner tonight… something Mexican with hamburger. Probably make your own soft tacos or burritos. That way I can have all the veggies on mine! The others can have the meat.

Bon appétit!

Hi there!

Happy Birthday Mary! Your day will be great! It is also my niece's, across the street, birthday too. Good grief, she turns 45! I am not that old! LOL

Becca - seeing that I am getting old, if i missed you yesterday, Happy Birthday too!

Chickie - i love having the one on one time with my grands. What memories for Tasha with taking care of Miss Lint.

Tina - big hug to you! It's hard dealing with moms at times!

Irish - that is such wonderful news about Terry and the job nearby. Prayers were answered. Glad that the priest came by and hope that those in the church are willing to come abd visit.

Tonight at church is the birthday dinner from when the Relief Society was organized in the church. It is the oldest women's organization in the United States. The mission of the Relief Society is to help those in need, teach gospel principles, and teach the ladies of the church skills we may need in living in this world. I have learned much in being a member of this organization. We were organized 175 years ago.

Well time to scoot,
Enjoy,
Jana

Oh yes, it is snowing right now! At least it is not sticking!
