SUPPER CLUB - Wed, March 22nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Mar 22, 2017 2:36 am

Good Morning!

After a wet start to the day yesterday, the rain stopped and temps climbed to 55*. No sunshine, but we were happy just to be dry. But the ground/leaves were still wet which makes raking all that much harder so I didn't do anything in the yard. I have no idea what today's weather will be. If it's dry, I want to get more yard work done.

We never got to the movie yesterday. Bill must have forgotten all about it. But I made great progress quilting Lone Star. I'm doing the star (SITD) and the open spaces (freehand meander). Bill's doing feathers in the borders using his Q-bot. Today should finish up the body of the quilt (my part). I also got 4 more FGV blocks finished. I love doing these little 6" blocks. They are so relaxing. To me, anyway.

BECCA - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I hope you have something special planned for the day. I wish your eye appointment had been more hopeful. Maybe new glasses will help.

CHICKIE - That was nice that there was such a great quilt shop so close by when your late hubby was getting his chemo. You really needed it! How are things going with Tasha and the rest of your crowd? Is Lint happy? How old is she now? How long will you be bottle feeding her? Does she eat anything else yet?

JANA - I'm so excited for your kids! A brand new house! It will be so much fun for them to fix it up just to suit themselves! But that builder! Argghhh!! I wonder what kinds of reviews he's getting on YELP or wherever contractor reviews are posted. But I'm glad all is resolved now.

IRISH - glad your priest made a visit finally. My parish wasn't known for any personal interest either. And when I needed them most there wasn't even a card in the mail from them while all the other churches in town were on my doorstep doing whatever they could to ease life for my kids and me. So I've been a little bitter, too, over being forgotten.

Tonite we are going to friends' for supper. Different friends from last Sunday. My SIL is invited, too, and we'll pick her up along the way. Last I heard, pork roast was on the menu. That doesn't sound bad at all! And if I know that couple - and I have for 27 years - I bet dessert will be sour cream lemon pie.

Enjoy your supper tonite!

Happy birthday Becca!!! So glad you survived the storms with no/minimal damage!!! Our wind has been insane here. Tomorrow comes with more… still now rain, but we do have it in the forecast again. We’ve had it forecast all spring with no precipitation.

Miss Lint seems to be quiet happy although she’s not crazy about the dogs barking and chasing around. I think she’d like to chase around with them. We had two new calves yesterday… up to 5. Lint is about 2 weeks old. I’ll be bottle feeding until I can train her to eat and drink from a bucket. Sometime I’ll start putting ground up oatmeal in her bottles to give her semi-solid food. I did that with Timi, and she really thrived and didn’t get pot-bellied like most bottle calves. I actually enjoy the bottle feeding and don’t get in a huge hurry to wean… I like to make a strong bond with my babies!

Mary--Sounds like you didn’t miss the movie too much and had a happy, productive day. I really enjoy the FGV blocks, too. I’m doing the 6” ones, but you have lots more made than I have. I think Christmas and comfort quilts shoved them to the back burner.

Becca—I posted to you in Sew In that I made the big sister/brother a doll quilt using the baby’s quilt scraps. Nothing fancy. I gave a doll or a teddy bear with it. That transition from only child to older sibling is rough sometimes. The parents always seemed to like that I included the older child, and it gave them something to care for as mama was taking care of the new baby(ies).

I love that you get “birthday week”. I think we should all celebrate as many days as we can fit in and convince everyone we need celebrating! I’ll look up your Amish Crib Quilts book. Fun!!!

I’m not getting to walk with Tasha here. She loves driving the UTV, so I am chauffeured like a queen… or a granny. Maybe Queen Granny. She wanted to take it last night to see Choc and Maggie when we let them out for their bedtime potty, but I insisted on my truck since it was cool… chilly to miserable in the open UTV for me… probably not for her. I swear kids don’t feel cold temperatures. She wasn’t too happy with me that we didn’t go in the UTV. Maybe today although temperatures are only in the 50s today. I can handle going to see Ava… no Choc and Maggie duty today.

Dinner tonight… I am thawing some chicken thighs and tenders. I’m hoping we might do something oriental like sesame chicken or something Tasha likes. I’ll cook rice for DH, noodles for her and both for me… love those carbs! DH doesn’t do noodles, and she doesn’t do rice… Chinese buffets are good for those differences. We’ll figure out something to make and things to go with the chicken…

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

Happy Birthday Becca!

Happy dance around here after all the builder shenanigans. We are just waiting for the key. When it is funded and recorded, by 5 pm, this afternoon, the kids have a plan to get moving. Aaron is only working a half day, so he can work on the painting and moving.

Well, my battery is dying,
Be back later,
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning :)
I have the boys back :) We just came back inside, so far the wind hasn't hit and it's really nice and getting in the upper 80's. ... it got a little to warm so we came inside but mutt front yard is cleaned up so I got that accomplished too. I vacuumed and mopped and dusted before they got here this morning. I gotta fix lunch and might just take a little nap when they do :)
I'm not sure what I'm making for supper yet.

Good later afternoon from a very sunny but chilly, SW.Pa...I was hoping the temps would climb just a little higher but didn't get my wish...Jim even said, let's sit on the front porch but he also didn't realize how chilly it was...Mr. Sun is very deceiving.....

Mary, you are never at a loss for things to do, are you? I guess we all could probably say that but with me, I just don't do most of those things, lol....So, what did you think of my sister's picture? I tell everyone, we're twins, lol....She is 4 years younger but I still can call her my big sister and thinking back, with all the heartaches we've shared, we're best friends and that's a good feeling....Oh boy, your dinner sounds good..........I really do miss having big dinners, whether I had to cook or we went elsewhere, didn't matter....I think what really hurt me most about the non visits was after spending so much time with the priest and the organist, doing the weddings and helping with funerals and then as you said, be forgotten...Both of them knew what was happening...And we also have a ministry who calls and visits but yet nothing....Oh well, that's over, no more feeling sorry for myself.....

Becca, our Birthday Gal, hope your day is one of the best ever...AND to have a whole week or more is even better...One thing for sure, you are really loved... I keep hoping all the leaves that are still around here, just blow somewhere else...I am so ready to see green stuff even if it's weeds....Enjoy your birthday dinner....

Chickie, I would really be bad at weaning little Ms. Lint...I'd want to keep her a baby for as long as I could but then I'm that way with most of our animals...Even the darn eagles, I hate to see them grow and then fly away...I want my babies close! Even though Tasha might be a little upset with you, I'm sure she's loving every minute of her time spent there...There again, she's growing up too fast...

Tina, Spring break didn't seem to last too long or was it my imagination? But, hope you were able to take advantage and get some rest..But, then you don't seem to rest very often, so hope you caught a nap today....And right now, I'd love to have your temps...I need something to take the chill out of my old bones...One thing for sure, you'll never hear me say it's too warm....

I didn't realize how late it was...I was so engrossed in writing out checks, time just got away from me..I almost went to JoAnn's today but in looking at the coupons, tomorrow is 20% off total, including sale stuff so we'll wait until tomorrow...
Along with going broke, I did some laundry and did a little sewing...I really want to "DO SOMETHING"...With the sun shining, I get in a mood but then I think, before I do the windows, I want to paint or before I paint the basement, I need to get rid of a bunch of stuff...There is always something to get in my way, lol...Does that make sense????But, I do have good intentions and in my mind, my house is all painted and spotless, lol.....

For our dinner, I have some chicken thawing...I was thinking, French fried onion breaded chicken and a baked potato....Found some more Girl Scout cookies so that's good for afters........

Happy eating...............

Update - let the moving begin!

Matt has the trailer loaded with their new furniture and his old dining table, so they are using Sarah's big truck to haul that to the house. I have Gracie, she is currently asleep with her nap. My house will be a mess for awhile, but soon we wik be here alone again.

My lovely kitty, read a huge bit sarcasm, thought that the baby quilt on my LA was his personal hammock and litter box! The quilt had tons of bias edges, so they were stretched out beyond any chance of saving, as well as his staining on it, the quilt went to the trash and he is on my s list! The only saving grace right now is he is old and getting to be very senile. So now i must devise a way to keep him off. I went to the LQS and got new fabric and will remake the quilt this weekend.

Soon to be normal, ROFLOL!
Jana
