Good Morning!

Today is my oldest brother, Gene's, birthday. The old geezer is 82! I remember the day he left for the Navy from downtown Tacoma on a Trailways bus, how my mom cried, that the bus lurched as it pulled away causing him to bump his head and bled onto his red paisley shirt. He is 16 years older than I am and I adore him! He is still trucking in Alaska, the only one in our family still working.

BECCA - sounds like your twins are home-bound pretty soon. So exciting! I'm glad you are able to get out and do some things, even if only for short periods of time.

IRISH - Regarding the raking and vacuuming, I'm like you - someone's got to do it. And that someone is usually me. Bill insisted on buying our Riccar vacuum which is heavier than a load of bricks so he promised he would do ALL the vacuuming and set up a bi-weekly schedule. Well, that lasted all of 3 weeks. Now he does it only if I make a special request. And as to raking, he doesn't believe in Bill doing yard work. But he WILL use the tractor to pick up my debris piles. Heck! That's the fun part! He does do the mowing, with the tractor. And then one day claimed to me that he did 90% of the yard work. I didn't even answer him but just walked away. I figure by doing that I saved his life that day. lol!

JANA - a big day for you all today! It's going to be a busy but happy week. I keep my overflow pantry on the same floor as the kitchen, in a cabinet in the back room. (used to be my son's room but is now the quilting room). I should put it downstairs just for the extra exercise but there's a lot of things I should do but don't.

TINA, TINA, TINA - you were doing so well with talk of muffins and chicken and cake. And then you had to go and mention a forbidden word. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to give you demerits for that!

CHICKIE - I know you were busy yesterday with family, Ms Lint, and now Tasha is with you for spring break. We'll be wanting a report soon, though!

CAROL - yoo hoo! Can you hear the dinner gong from there?

CAROLE with an e - And you've been MIA, too. We worry, you know!

LADY CAROL - how come we are having so much trouble with you Carols reporting in? I saw you on FB last week. Hope all is well in your part of the world.

Yesterday my DGS, Drew, and I got a TON of yardwork done! More than half of the yard (we have 2-1/2 acres but leave most of it as woods. Our 'yard' is about 1 acre.) He was such a help and did a better job than I do! Plus he did the part I hate doing the most. But he starts his new job this morning with my neighbor's landscaping business, so I'm on my own again. Sigh. But the good news is - It's supposed to start raining again this afternoon so I can come inside and play in my sewing room. And more good news - I realized I have a massage appointment a week from today! I'm going to need it.

Supper tonite is going to be grilled burgers. I'll add some sliced tomatoes and cucumber on the side. I'm out of lettuce so no salad. Burgers are usually plenty for us anyway.

What's happening on your plate tonite?

Good morning :)
Oops Mary, my bad LOL I didn't eat any I was just suggesting to Becca for her Denise ;)
Becca, I need to get walking again too. I only have Windows to do so here and there between the wind, blowing dirt, high temps, Bob cats, packs of dogs, wild pigs and snakes it gets if-ie and I'm scared of a lot. .....I really think I live in the wrong state. ... maybe Hawaii probably should've been where I live LOL
I'm trying to finish up a few things before I get the boys back on Wednesday plus do the uglies and laundry again.
I think supper tonight will be something simple. ... salad and chicken strips.
Tina

Good afternoon from a dreary, semi warm, Sw. Pa...It's warm enough for me to go out and sweep both the front porch and the patio so you know, it's not cold....I just wanted to neaten up a little because our Priest is stopping by...Jim even made a joke by saying, slow down, it's not the Pope!, lol.....

Mary, that's funny about Bill and the vacuum...I was told years ago by a chiropractor, a woman should never use an up-right vacuum..This was after I had to have a rib pushed back in place, ouchie.....And ever since, I do have to watch and not use my right arm when using that darn thing...But, Jim likes to vacuum, makes him feel useful...And Jim was always our mower but he used a push and it took about 4 hours to do our yard..Now, the neighbor does it with his rider, not as good of a job but it gets done...I'm just glad I don't have to do it...But, I did get myself a little electric push and never used it...Maybe this summer, (maybe)....

Jana, big day in your neighborhood...It is a lot of work but so exciting...I have an extra cupboard in the kitchen for extra stuff but a big cupboard at the bottom of the steps, in the basement for all the other stuff..That's where the neighbors sometimes come to shop, lol....

Becca, sorry to hear you're going to loose your walking buddy but lucky you to have another on the list...My neighbor and a buddy do a lot of walking but we have too many hills and I just can't do hills..So, I always greet them when they come back...But, you know, when I was in Florida, I found 1 excuse after the other not to walk and there aren't any hills down there.....I admire people who stick to it......

Well, now that I'm all done with the uglies, if I didn't have Fr. Dave coming, I could play in the sewing room all afternoon...(Maybe he won't stay long)....
I really do need to get to JoAnn's for fatting and backing so if we don't get out in the next day or so, I'll just have to order on line....Just want to get that quilt gone!

As far as dinner, I wish I had some burgers for the grill but it might be something with chicken...My mind isn't working and I can't think...But, I could check out the store downstairs and come up with something.............I probably should have backed something...Hope Fr. Dave isn't expecting anything.....

You all have a great day....

Happy eating..............

Good afternoon… late. I’m so tired!!! It was busy all day yesterday and ditto today… Tasha is having a blast with Lint and the dogs of course! She took to feeding Lint like a pro, so I make the bottles and she feeds. I’m afraid Lint will forget who her mommy is, but I love hearing Tasha giggle!!!

We had a super family day yesterday and everyone but DH and DSIL got in a walk to take care of Choc and Maggie. It was a HOT 2 miles!!! But it felt good to work off dinner.

Today was laundry, trip to town for taxes and feed store, Ava, Lint, the usual brunch cooking and cleaning up the kitchen, and making a cookie for DGS’s 21st birthday tomorrow. I’ll wait and decorate it tomorrow. I’m just plain tired this afternoon. I still have part of my laundry on the lines waiting for it to dry.

DH tells me I have yard work to do, too. It’s just not happening right now!

Mary—Mom has a Kenmore vacuum that is so heavy to push around. It wears me out. I like my Oreck, but recently I blew a wad on a Dyson cordless, and I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!! On high, it doesn’t run but about 20 minutes instead of the 40 advertised, so I switch off and use the “suck the finish off” sparingly. I love the interchangeable heads for the sofas, and it’s super light weight! Now, I just need to use it EVERY day!

Becca—hope the new walking buddy works out. I love the walks to clear my mind, too.

Tina—I’m not sure where I’d live, although I love coastal CA. I’m pretty content with my home on the range even if the wind blows and it’s super dusty. I can’t complain too much; life is good.

Irish—How nice to have vacuuming help! I love having shopping at my fingertips since we are 100+ miles from anywhere with “real” shopping. I love my little quilt shop that’s 30 miles away, however. I always knew there was a good reason I hate housework—it’s hazardous to my health!!! Hope you had a good visit with your priest—it’s wonderful that he makes house calls… so many clergy do not do it. I think Mom has had one pastoral call in 10+ years. It is criminal in my opinion; she is the oldest and longest member of the church—a charter member if I’m correct. They used to send someone to pick up her check each month, but she told them she was going to start tithing to my niece’s husband’s church since they couldn’t be bothered with her for anything but a check.

Dinner tonight will be reruns of the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, fruit salad and blackberry cobbler. I split the leftovers with DD so she didn’t have to cook tonight after work, and there was exactly enough for each of our dinners this evening. Tomorrow I’ll have to cook something…

Bon appétit!
