SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, March 18th
Good morning!
More rain here. If it doesn't stop soon, we'll need the canoe to go out to get the mail! Something came crashing down in the front woods this morning but it's too dark to see yet. But the big tree hanging over the house is still standing. But when I heard that other tree start cracking, it certainly got my attention!
I've been purging my kitchen cabinets. My dining room table is now piled high with 'go-aways'. And my DGS is coming by today to visit and he's going to take a set of dishes and some other things. Not sure I can talk him into my two punch bowls that I have used NEVER. I don't think his 23 yr old crowd is much into punch when they get together. lol!
Today is also dealing with the dirties. Our hamper runneth over, so Mr. Maytag and I will be doing the Washday Watusi.
CHICKIE O'SHAY - Today is moving day for little Pocket Lint! Oh, yes, I'm sure there will be funny moments! Can't wait to hear all about it! Ah, the butter cookies. I never made them. I looked at the cake and the blackberry crisp we still have to eat and decided we didn't need cookies as well. At least not yet. I'm sure any butter would be fine. I did taste Kerrygold Irish butter a few years ago at Autumn's (Costco sells it) but it just tasted like regular old butter to me. But Aut swears it's better butter.
BECCA - bummer about the HVAC owners moving on. We've had similar experiences and it really bites. But like always, you seem to make the best of things.
JANA - a bunkhouse model RV with an outside kitchen is purrfect for an active family! I know your son will really enjoy it!
SHIRLEY MAE - welcome! glad you had a good week in Texas and are home safe and sound. I hope you're both feeling better now. Since we have an RV, we always take our cats with us. you never know when there might be an emergency and you need a cat! Where in Texas were you? We just spent 2 months in Georgetown, north of Austin. My DD lives on Lake Travis west of Austin so we get to see a lot of her while we are there.
IRISH - our St. Paddy's Day celebrations have also become quite ho-hum around here. I'm sorry you and Jim are missing the fun. I wore my green, too, as well as my dangly shamrock earrings. That was about it. and about that Irish red hair - you know, I've been told that the red is a result of visits made by some rascally, but very friendly Norwegians hundreds of years ago. No proof, just rumor, but maybe all of us red-haired lassies are really part Norsky . . ?
Here is the recipe for Irish Butter Cookies put out by the folks who make Challenge Butter.
IRISH BUTTER COOKIES
makes 4-5 dozen
1 c. (2 sticks) butter (they say Challenge European Style butter)
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
2-1/2 c. flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
Preheat oven to 375*. Cream butter and sugar 'til fluffy. Beat in egg. Whisk together flour, soda, & salt. Gradually add flour mixture into butter mixture until blended.
Divide dough in half. Roll out half of the dough at a time on lightly floured surace to 1/8" thickness. Cut into shamrock shapes with floured cookie cutter. Bake on parchment-lined or un-buttered cookie sheets for 8 min or until lightly browned. Cool few minutes and transfer to wire racks to finish cooling. Frost and store in airtight continer.
BUTTERCREAM FROSTING:
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter, softened
1 c. powdered sugar
1 Tbsp whiskey*
2 drops green food color
green cake decorating crystals
Cream butter. Add powdered sugar and blend well. Stir in whiskey and beat well. Blend in food color. Add additional sugar or whiskey if necessary for spreading consistancey. Makes 1/2 cup icing. Decorate with crystals.
*you can sub in milk if preferred
I think I'll make a homemade pepperoni pizza today for 'lupper'. My DGS, Drew, will be here early afternoon and he loves my pizza. If we're still hungry, we have a few more servings of ziti left.
Baked ziti, anyone?

Good morning
Frankie went to play golf yesterday at what used to be one of my favorite golf courses but I guess they sold it to the university and they have let all but one pond go dry and taken out most of the signs that day what hole is what and the golf paths just went to dead ends. We'd be driving along and then nothing so we had to cross over to the other side. .. it was an adventure to say the least LOL but it was a beautiful day and we got to spend some US time and we enjoyed our day.
Mary, sounds like you've got some treasures there on your table, if I was close I'd come buy your punch bowls. .. we actually use them. .. my kids loved using them for Halloween parties and birthday parties the best! I'm sure I'll be putting my one too use soon, Jazmyneturns 10 this year
We were going to experiment with a new lemon herb chicken recipe and a chocolate cake recipe that we saw on Facebook but I think that's been moved to tomorrow night so now I have to figure out tonight again, maybe just burgers on the grill.

Good afternoon from a very dreary, slightly warmer, snow melting, SW. Pa....It's the kind of day, you NEED to stay inside and do something, even if it's wrong...
But, My day will consist of uglies between watching robots compete in Ashville, N.C. I get so tied up in watching and forget the uglies but what they heck1..These HS kids have built these robots from the wheels up and it is unbelievable to see what they can do...What's amazing are the kids who do this, our next generation!
Mary, every time I see the weather map and see the rain in your area, I shudder...I know you're supposed to be green and lush but let's not get too carried away...What is bad, come the middle of summer, we'll probably be begging for a little drop or 2....
The cookie recipe sounds good and why was I not surprised by the whiskey in the frosting????
O'Chickie O'Shay, how I would love to be in your neighborhood today...Well, heck, I'd love to be in that area any day...But, to see you and the hooligans moving the baby will be special...Remember your name yesterday and the books by a certain author you like? Well, I got a nice big box of stuff from Kathy and sure enough, there was a book by Mauve Binchey...Great minds think alike, right???
Well, time for another match and Nick might need me....It's so neat to watch him on the computer, would love to be there in person but thank goodness for this machine.....
For our dinner, I did get some French bread pizza yesterday so that might make it to the table...Jim has been giving me fits about eating and so far, in 2 days has had only Ensure...Yesterday's sandwich was found in the bathroom waste basket....One day at a time!
Did talk to my sister and would you believe that sent her DS home..3 blood clots and on 3 different big time pain meds and a blood thinner and told not to do anything until he sees his doctor on Monday...My sister is livid...
You all have a great day....
Happy eating............

Hello everyone,
Maryz I hope you see the Sun very soon.Sue was tired of it too & So is DGS & his family.oh my on the cabinet cleaning.I keep putting the deep deep clean off due to ladders.May get into that when DD comes.
When DGD come I did give her a rocking chair she loved in my bedroom.I told her I wanted someone to have it that loved it.Made me happy.Weve give a ton of furniture & other things away.
Chickie Think we are all thinking of you & PL today.Hope it goes off without a hitch.
Tina Sounds too bad about the golf course. We haven't made punch in years.Used to have it a lot at gatherings. My DMIL had a lead crystal one.My Niece got it.
Irish If your place is like ours no Holidays are the same as they used to be.Lol But we seem to enjoy what we have & always enjoy our family & friends time.Enjoy your DGSs activities.I would do the same.
DS2 come to visit today. Its a sunny day here & in 60s ,crazy after what we had this wk.
Oh well we take it one day at a time here.Got my Mumbo dance done .And took my walk. Also ordered some oils for my pain in face & mouth.Hoping they help.Wanted to go natural if possible.
DH wanted baked beans & hot dogs.Carrots, brocolli, strawberries & grapes too. Becca

Thanks for the recipe. Now I must remember to print it out later.
Tonight I am doing chops again indoors rather than grill, as it is crazy windy again.
Going dancing again tonight. Wow, two nights in a row. Only two more opportunities after tonight before we leave. Velda

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, March 18th
Good afternoon! Lint is home in her pen, and it all happened while your vivid imaginations were running amuck! DS1 was moving some cattle today, and he loaded Lint in the trailer and brought her over to her new home. It all happened while I was having lunch in town with Mom today. I gave her a bottle and played with her for awhile. She followed me and chased me around the pen and got to kick up her heels. When I drove down our lane, the Hooligans didn’t come running to meet me. I found out why… they were sitting outside the pen keeping watch on their new resident.
Mary—we are so dry here. The dust just billows up behind my truck in gritty clouds. Even the dogs when they run down the road or through the pastures kick up dust behind them. You know what is blowing in the house! You’ve NEVER used punch bowls? We always had two punch bowls going at Christmas when MIL was alive, and the tradition has continued. It has lots of fruit, juice, fizzy and (in the adult bowl) spirits. If it’s not made, it’s missed! I love that Tina may be getting a special delivery!!!
Thanks for telling me Kerry Gold butter doesn’t taste any different from any other. I was listening to, or reading about Wisconsin’s dairy regulations. They cannot sell Kerry Gold in that state! Mostly they have regulations to only sell Wisconsin dairy products. I thought it was interesting. Someone was saying that when they go to Nebraska, they bring back a case of Kerry Gold butter. I will print off the recipe, and maybe Tasha will want to make cookies while she is here. I think that frosting sounds pretty yummy!
I know the trees cracking is scary!!! Hope everything holds!!!
Jana—I’ve never heard of that style of RV, but it would be great for the families here who go to fair twice a year for a week at a time or go to the lake.
Vel—have fun kicking up your heels! Those boots with the boot bracelet will be flashing!
Becca—That’s sweet to pass on the rocking chair while you know she will enjoy it! We are almost 80 today but cooling down tomorrow. It just goes up and down here. Enjoy your visit!
Irish—did you tell Kathy I had mentioned Maeve Binchey? That is funny—definitely great minds!!! Enjoy! They are nice books for a change in gristly whodunits. Oh, that’s just so sad about what you find where. Crazy about your sister’s son!!! I’d be livid as well.
Tina—I saw in Mom’s paper that the Parsons golf course was closing March 31 and will become pasture. The course is being sold because they couldn’t make any money or break even. It was a pretty nice 18 hole course. There is one 9-hole course left for play in town. The course where I lived in Missouri changed hands at least 3, maybe 4 times in less than 10 years. I guess the golf boom has went bust. That’s sad.
I think the punch bowls would be so much fun for Halloween parties!!! Special birthday parties would also be much more special. I used to use mine for showers and special events as well. Punch, especially in little cups, made any occasion a special treat.
Guess I need to think of something for dinner tonight. I found some fried chicken in the freezer for DH. Since I had a fried chicken salad with Mom, I’ll give it to DH and I’ll have grilled cheese on sourdough bread. Tomorrow I probably won’t make it here… DD and family are coming to dinner and bringing Tasha to spend the week. I’m making chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli, fruit salad, green salad (maybe), and blackberry cobbler. But that’s tomorrow…
Miss Pocket Lint will continue to have 3 two quart bottles a day. The Hooligans will have kibble and treats when they can make me feel sorry for them... ha!
Bon appétit!

Very late good evening!
We are grabbing a couple of small sslads from the Mexican place down the street. I have been getting the uglies done snd need a treat!
Tne kids RV will be used quite a bit in the summer. There are some campgrounds not to far of a drive ftom SLC. That means Matt can go to work down by the airport, where his office is and spend dinner and the
evening with the family. Crenda and the kids do this already with her family for several weeks during the dummer. Living so close to the mountains has its perks!
Well time to scoot,
Enjoy,
Jana
Oh yes, dinner tomorrow is tortilla soup.

Thank you so much Mary! I really appreciate it!
I'm just now getting here at 11pm! Holly and the kids were here, then Kevin showed up to move my waterfall and then Holly and the boys went home at supper time but Jazmyne stayed and then Maria came after supper! Maria is feeling the baby move now, she's so excited add we all are
I made a total mess in my kitchen at supper, I was trying to the and heat red enchilada sauce for supper and thought I had the heat low enough and kept going back and forth checking on it while everyone showered before supper. ..I let a tad to much time pass which turned out to be too high of heat and it splattered within 6"of the ceiling, all over the walls and stove and floor! What a mess but it's cleaned up now and our enchiladas were yummy and hot!
