SUPPER CLUB - Fri, March 10th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Mar 10, 2017 3:12 am

Good Morning!

We got wind. Nothing terrible or scary, but when you live amongst the tall trees, you notice. But for the moment - no rain!

Yesterday I got a lot of little things accoomplished in my sewing room - made binding and pot holders, found some items I'd lost (rulers and scissors), prepped Lone Star for the quilt frame, cleaned, and then got some quilting done on Cats. I'm halfway done with that! Then I moved my energies and my audio book to the kitchen and made some rice pudding, pork chops & scalloped potatoes, and asparagus. DH brought me a glass of wine at 4pm and we sat and watched the early news. A good day! Today - more work on cats. I could finish it today if my back will let me stand at that angle for that long, but that probably won't happen.

BECCA - I saw in sew-in that the twins are still hanging in there! Good news! Have fun with with the STW gang today!

CHICKIE - Your project is coming together nicely! About Vicki, yes, she has mental issues stemming from the effects that her Huntington's is having on her brain. Very sad. Her paranoia won't let her trust anyone to help her. She refuses visits from health care aides, meals on wheels, or any other source of assistance. Her DD stops by occasionally with groceries, (once every few weeks) but the older DD has had nothing to do with her for years. And she only lives 2 miles away. We keep an eye on her, but she doesn't want us walking across the grass to her door. As for the fur kids, yes, we've had about $700 in vet bills for Scottie over the past two years that we think, but can't prove, was from eating Vicki's garbage. The thing we can't figure out is what is in her TWO garbage cans she drags out to the road each week? We are two people and only have 1/2 can full each week. She is one person and throws much of her garbage into the yard. So, WHAT'S IN THOSE CANS?? I told Bill he should peek next trash day! lol! They could be empty or she could be tossing out her laundry, her dishes, household items, or every gift anyone has ever given her. Gasp! I made her a quilt about 5 years ago! I wonder where it is . . .

IRISH - your sister is a hoot! I have this visual of her in my head. There is a series of books by Anne George about two sisters in Texas, ages 60 and 65, and they are funny mysteries. And I picture those two sisters to be much like you and your sis. They are such SISTERS! You should check one out of your library if they have them and see for yourself. Sorry about the closet cleaning thing. We might do dresser drawers today, so be alert!

JANA - seems the kids have waited forever for this house! But now the 21st is only 11 days away. If they, and you, can hang on that long, I guess I can, too.

TINA - is this the start of your spring vacation? Summer isn't far away! Hang in there!

We have scalloped potatoes and rice pudding leftover from last night. I think I'm going to pop to the grocery store today and pick up some ham slices so I'll put that with the potatoes and press REHEAT. I also have more fresh asparagus or to switch it up, brussels sprouts. And as always, salad. But as soon as the leftovers are cleared out, I plan to make JANA'S chix cordon bleu casserole. Yum!

I hope whatever you eat tonite you can say the same thing - "YUM!"

Good late morning from a very snowy, wintery, SW.Pa..In talking to Donna this morning, we have decided, had this been the 1st snow of the year, it would be gorgeous but since we've had the pleasure a few times, this stuff is just down right nasty...Gonna be a cold weekend and into next week, darn! And right now, we're having a blizzard. can't see across the street........

Mary, you do know you are really making it hard for the rest of us...I certainly don't have half or quarter the energy you have so I'm really falling behind, (in more ways than 1)....That really is terrible with Vickie..It will probably come to the point where someone just comes and physically takes her away. What a shame....But, you really have to be so careful with your fur kids...
And, you're right about my sister, she is 1 of a kind...So many problems (health wise) and never complains..Oh well, she does complain about her DH, lol...She is 4 years younger than me but always says, she the big sister (and she is)...I will have to check on those books, sounds good.....

Chickie, you also have way too much energy..You have so many different projects going, I'm really lost...And I just noticed, I never answered your last PM...See what I mean about being lost...

Becca, Each time I take a peek, I think, we'll no news is good news...I have visions of those little babies hanging on for dear life and saying, "we're not ready to come out and meet the world, we like it here"...Hope your day is a good one.....

Jana, a new house, what a great experience...AND it will soon be here!

Well, now that the blizzard has moved on, we're having blinding sunshine...Mother Nature doesn't know what she's doing....Hey, not sure what I'm going either...
But along with waiting to hear about my sister, I remembered, I'm going out on Monday and having a gal come in to stay with Jim, SO, that means, let's get this place looking presentable...What's funny, these gals would come and do anything I asked but it's almost like needing to clean before the cleaning lady comes, lol....I always tell them, bring a book or something to help pass the time, they don't need to be doing my "uglies".....
AND I really, really want to get to the sewing room...I have 1 more row to add to "THE" quilt...Then they have to tell me about borders or how to finish it...This one might have to be sent out, it's going to be too big for me to do, I think.....

And as far as dinner, Mary cover your eyes and ears..Our neighbor, Donna, stopped at one of the local churches who has an early "mac n cheese" luncheon and brought home our lunch and dinner...Jim has eaten and thought it was great, while I ate some of the halushkie,(sp) cold slaw and a bite of the banned...So, more for dinner and I don't have to cook......

Now, if I just had some of Mary's rice pudding, we'd be set.....

Happy eating...........

Hello everyone,Sun has appeared but still windy. We are to get snow Sun & Monday they say.March 13,1993 was when we had the Blizzard. & had 3 ft of snow.Never ever want that again.

Maryz Your cleaning bug never got to me but with all the goings on here no wonder.Im like Irish I feel lost too.But am so thankful our babies are staying with Mama for now.
Your poor neighbor sounds like she needs to be in a facility.Sad DDs don't help more.

Irish I sure thought of you yesterday.Frick & Frat were here trying to do 2 projects. On the last one he finally called our DS to come & finish .He had it done in about 3 minutes what he had worked on for so long.Life on the funny farm!!!
Your DS must be a trooper.

Jana Sure happy for Kids. Will be a happy time for all.

Chickie I forgot to mention I never heard of an art like your DS was doing.Sounds intriguing.Oh you & the Holligans give me a chuckle. They are fun I know.Oh the birth of DD must have been a nightmare.Sure Tamra will be the same as she has to stay until they are born whenever that is.

We will have leftovers chicken pie slaw & fresh greens. Becca.
Nearing the end of little ones quilt. Will let out a whoop when I finish.

Good afternoon!

No plans have jelled for dinner yet. I have a awhile before i need to cook. Humm, Kate could cook tonight.

Been doing the uglies around here. Finished the master bath and have started in the master bedroom. It is mostly clean, just Michael's desk is a huge disaster! I have the laundry going as well.

Still looking for my templates.

Irish - it's good to get out- when our grandfather went into the final stages of Parkinson's, my FIL, stayed and took care of them until the end and created so much stress, that caused him problems. Having help is great.

Becca- what blessings are happening with those babies, staying in mom as long as possible will add benefits. Hard on the parents and you, but good for them. Lots of prayers.

Well, time to change laundry,
Enjoy,
Jana

Don't forget that Daylight Savings starts this weekend. Spring forward.

Hi, All! I’m late today. The Hooligans and I walked over and took care of Choc—chilly and windy here! 40 degrees less than yesterday!

We walked through the pasture, and I saw a little gray calf that was wandering around alone with no cow in sight. We had a new calf yesterday, and DH thought it was this one. Well… not so. DH went looking for the cow, and she had a calf with her. Apparently she had twins and accepted the strongest one. I may have a bucket baby. We are waiting for DS1 to come check it and see if he can get the cow to take it. If not, I’ll be its adoptive mama. You will call me Old Cow, not Chickie… I hope we can save it. DH said I can call it Lent because of the season, or Pocket Lint because it’s that color. Guess I’ll wait to name it… It’s bet 9 years since I had a bucket calf.

Dinner tonight is up in the air. We are supposed to go meet friends for the annual Lenten Friday night dinner, and we’d have to leave here in an hour. I’m thinking we’ll cancel and reschedule for another Friday. I have non-Lenten items (burgers) to feed DH, and I know I can find stuff for me. I made a blackberry cobbler yesterday, so DH has it for dessert and is a happy camper.

Maybe you do need to check those trash cans! She may need legal assistance if she’s that unstable.

Thanks for your support on my project! I’m a little stuck with one item but am pressing on with others… some fun surprises!

Becca—that’s why we welcomed our DGS to live on the other end of the farm. DH’s 3 sons also live within .5 to 5 miles from us. We can usually call for help.

Irish—we are supposed to have hard freezes here, too! If I get this bucket calf, we will have to make a pen in the machine shed. It’s too far to go down to the barn, although there is a barn closer… hummm… I’d like to have it in the machine shed just because it would be closer and I could easily walk when it’s dark. Oh, I can’t remember which end is up most of the time, and I’ve forgotten to answer PMs, too! No problem!!! LOL!!!

Jana—I can’t remember what templates you are looking for… talk about a wandering mind! I’m going to lose an hour!!! YIKES!!!

I need to get back and see what’s happening with the calf…

Bon appétit!
