Good morning!
We are 34* and drippy wet outside. Another hundred feet in elevation and we probably would have had snow. But we aren't so we didn't.
Yesterday was spent almost all day in my sewing room. I have my lone star almost all together. Just borders to add today. The backing is going to be pieced with a panel about Texas in the center. Bill found this panel while we were in the LQS in Georgetown, TX and wanted me to incorporate it into my quilt. I knew our friend would love it so it's going on the back. I hope to have this all ready for the LA in a few more days. But then that means that I have to finish quilting the quilt that is already on the LA.
Today will also include a few uglies and about 4 loads of wash. Not sure what Bill has up his sleeve, but probably a bit of garage uglies and taxes.
CAROLE with an e - I was wondering where you were! So sorry to hear you've been sick. Congratulations on your consistant losses! Are you following a specific diet or just making wise choices. Your gourmet dinner group sounds intriguing. Until someone presents with oysters Rockefeller!
CHICKIE - You asked about our friend's art medium. He can paint with oils and acrylics, but now he is into glass. He makes bowls, plates, and other 'vessels', but he specializes in "paintings" in glass. He draws his scene, then places glass pieces 'just so', fires the thing in a huge kiln and it has a painting, but done all in glass. I have really simplified it here as I know it's much more involved than that. He can also weld so he makes beautiful stands to hold his artwork, too. We bought an 9x12 piece he did of a yellow rose and gave it to Autumn for Christmas, complete with his handmade stand. His work is starting to appear in galleries and they could sell for hundreds of dollars easily. WE didn't pay that for the piece we bought, of course. We got a small piece of his early work and he gave us the friend discount.
JANA - congrats to Kate! When will she hear if she passed her audition? What a talent! I can't even sing Happy Birthday! How was the pizza casserole? Was it a keeper?
BECCA - sounds like you had a nice weekend at your house. Let's hope for a good week as well! I saw our weather report and they predicted snow for the Hood Canal region and I immediately thought of your DGS. He lives in such a pretty area, but he does get a lot of rain and snow.
IRISH - how are things at your house? What are Terry and Nick up to lately?
TINA - did you have a nice weekend? Have you talked to your parents lately or are they still mad at you? Just remember, it's THEIR loss! Most people would give their firstborn son to have a daughter like you!
DH did grill last night. Now we have a lot of cooked chicken left over so it will go into something for tonite. Maybe a chicken/rice/broccoli casserole? with salad? I'll have to think on it a bit.
What might you be thinking about supper tonite?

Hi Mary
It's been so long since I sat at the table. So sorry that I am not a "regular". I always have good intentions to pop in here and say hello and share dinner plans. I am the same way with trying to keep a journal. My DH does his journal every single day. I start one and soon find that it's been a week or a month since I wrote in it. LOL
I get distracted doing other things, I guess.
As for dinner here: Well yesterday, I was hungry for Rice-A-Roni. So I took the chicken flavored and added chunked up chicken pieces that I brown and cooked in the skillet prior. Then added some fresh asparagus for myself. DH would never touch the stuff. LOL, but being a farm girl, we always looked forward to the fresh stuff in early spring. I love it anyway you cook it. But last night, I just microwaved some spears and melted a little margarine on it.
Now we have enough for left over tonight. I will add a salad tonight to round out the plate and of course another side dish of asparagus for me.
Hope you all have a great week and fun cooking.
Hugs
Vel

Good morning! We have been gray and WINDY here for several days. It's not cold, but it's not warm, either... just red-flag-warning winds. I keep thinking it will blow up some rain, but it doesn't. I'm ready for this to move out and let the sun shine in!
My sister and BIL do the glass as well. He does marbles as well as vessels, etc. My sister does some casting and painting, too. She recently did four generations of baby clothes and is entering it in an art show. I saw it Saturday and forgot to take a photo. Last summer when Tasha visited me, we went to their studio and made little plates. They have several kilns as well as their lampwork and marble equipment. It's fun to visit and see the marbles being made. They are on Facebook at Chaglaz designs in glass. Does your friend have a website?
Today I plan to be in my sewing room and taking the Hooligans for a walk to see Ava... if we can stand up in the wind! I might also have to do a little vacuuming of dog hair... my endless task.
Dinner last night morphed into burgers on ciabatta buns with all the trimmings including grilled onions and mushrooms. There is one burger left and some pizza from the night before... guess that's what will be on the table this evening. DH got his pancakes yesterday for brunch. I ate the rest of the latkes with applesauce.
Bon appetit!
P.S. Becca--I'd take you up on the knitting! I had a big, coat-like sweater a friend knitted for herself using plain old worsted weight yarn. It was too big for her, so she gave it to me. I loved it and wore it everywhere, used it for a blanket when traveling or on the sofa or hospital waiting rooms, and wouldn't give it up even after mending it numerous times. It was like wearing an afghan! I'm sure it wasn't real attractive, but it was comfortable and warm! If I learned to knit that's what I'd make first, then I'd have to find a place to store yarn like fabric... I do have some knitting needles and keep thinking I'll learn to use them better. I think they were in one of my DD's abandoned storage units and she gave them to me.

Good afternoon from a dreary, overcast but not real cold, Sw. Pa..When I went out to feed Jake, I was surprised it wasn't colder..And speaking of Jake, guess who didn't make it home last night and was late for breakfast????I usually give him a good talking to but all he's interested in is what he's getting for breakfast...
Mary, I envy anyone who has the talent to do as your friend is doing...To be able to actually make something out of glass and to be able to paint, wow!
Funny, you should ask about Nick and Terry...All day Sat. and Sunday, Nick was doing his thing with the robots and of course Grammy was right in front of the computer rooting him on...His team went as far as the semi finals and then lost but boy was it exciting...Also, can't believe, Nick being a senior, this will be his last year of competitions.. The group who sponsors the competitions is run by mostly engineering companies and offer quite a few scholarships, so I'm hoping Nick gets an offer...So, by last night, my eyes were crossed and I went to bed dreaming of robots....
Becca, I think we should all get together at your house and have a knitting camp...I would love, love to learn to knit...I crochet but there's something about things that are knitted...Our Cari said, she's doing an afghan, making each square a different pattern...
Many, many prayers are being said for Tamra and of course the twins....Also, hope your day is a good one....
Chickie, You're not the only one ready for the "nasty" weather to move on, far, far away...I want so badly to just go outside and hang the sheets on the line, lol....But, just in the last couple of days, the grass is really looking green and of course all the lilies etc. are up...About time for the deer to come along and have a snack, lol....
Vel, always nice to see you at the table...There are times I don't make it every day but I try to read what everyone is up too...Isn't it funny, what we cook and what hubbies won't eat..And funny, what we wouldn't eat as kids and now can't get enough...Cauliflower and broccoli weren't allowed on my plate when I was little but now, I could make a meal out of either one....Your asparagus is the same way, Jim would give me the evil eye if I put some on his plate..But, your dinner sounds great!
So far, not too much is happening in this neighborhood...The house next door is having a new shower put in and the fellow doing it has been working on it for over a month..It's gotten to be kind of a joke between Donna and me, heck they put up whole houses in less time...What's funny, the owner told me she would send him over when he's done and maybe he can do my step in tub...I'm almost 80 and I'd like this thing while I'm still able to walk, lol....But, always glad to see someone getting something new...
Had a call from my sister and she is having surgery on Thursday...She had what we all thought was a Dowager hump but the new doctor called it a buffalo hump?? Said it was (hopefully) fatty tissue and he's going to do liposuction and will take about an hour and a half...I volunteered to go along and have some of my parts taken care of also...If it's something weird, my sister will get it, for sure....
Just a few uglies and then upstairs to the sewing room...That is unless Jim decides we need to go for a ride...
I haven't a clue about dinner...Last night was poached eggs so no scrambler tonight...I might have waffles and sausage but we'll see...We go for a ride, well we all know what happens........
Happy eating.............
Eagle update:
E9 from the Florida nest has started branching, which means, he's getting a little air under those wings and able to get up to another branch..The funny part is when they decide to come back to the nest...But, it's just a matter of time until he gets brave enough to actually try to fly and then there's no stopping them..They still come back to the nest to eat as the parents will still be bring home the "bacon" but in time, he will learn to find his own and then be off to join the other juvies in the area...They usually fly north and then return to the area later in the year...It will take about 4-5 years before they start looking for a mate and tackle nest building...That's when they get their white heads....
So, that's the lesson for the day..........Do love my eagles!

Good afternoon
Mary, Spring break starts next week so I'll have all of next week off and then the next Monday and Tuesday

I'm looking forward to it! I've talked to Dad a couple times to see how they're doing but I guess my mom just doesn't live me anymore and I just have to accept that.
Vel, your supper sure sounds yummy too me!
Chickie, I keep trying to knit too. ... not much luck yet but since I learned to read a quilt pattern I can read the crochet patterns

knitting language is foreign to me so far. I love your brother and sister in law glad work!
Becca, I sure will be praying for mommy and babies!
Irish, prayers for your sister. My aunt had that so does my mom.

I am late, very very late!
First off, the pizza cassarole was a good jumpingnoff point. We could see how to improve it and add more yummiescand not so much crust/dumplings. I will post the recipe for y'all.
Tonight was going to be a chicken cordon bleu cassarole, but as i am typing, the kids are not here, so i will wait for tomorrow to make it.
Been sewing in the Batt Cave and finished the top to the baby quilt i am doing. Proud of myself asvi only have a picture of a finished quilt on Pinterest that i am copying. It only took most of 2 jelly rolls and it is ready for the LA. That will be tomorrow.
We also had to take the Highlander in for it's well car check up. It is purring like a kitten.
See ya tomorrow!
Jana
Lots of prayers too!
