SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Feb 24
Good Morning,
I am sitting on my couch, lap top atop my lap, and I have my Riley kitty snuggled up to my right hip and a giant sheltie -really, he's a big boy! - who NEVER gets on furniture, suddenly leaps up on the couch next to my left hip. Hardly room for him and he's trying to lay his head out across the keyboard. So any typos are his!
We are chilly this morning. In fact all week long our temps are ranging from 30' to about 43'. We even had a dusting of snow yesterday afternoon. It didn't stick, but was fun to watch. I see most of you are unseasonably warm. I always wonder when you are 80' in Feb, what will you be in August?
I have one last quilt top to get ready for the long arm. Then all the tops I put together in Texas will be ready. Then, I'm trying to decide if I want to start quilting them or get the last four projects out of the UFO box and put them together, too. They are all from past swaps. What to do? What to do?
I am skipping my morning walk today. They are digging up the road in front of our house and repaving. I couldn't get back into my driveway yesterday, but had to drive on by in the one moving lane of traffic and wait while they ran for a loader to bring a bucket of gravel to dump in so I could drive over it. Luckily they hadn't started with the asphalt yet. If they had I would have had to park at a church 1/4 mile away and walk back. So today, I'm staying home!
TINA - I hope you are feeling better today. Happy Birthday a day late to your Kevin. For some reason I had him stalled at 23! My son was married at 28 also. Have the kids set a date yet?
BECCA - you are describing exactly what my mom described when she had facial neuralgia. I don't think she did anything for it but hold her face and moan. That was back in the 70's and 80's.
CHICKIE - do you have a report on Choc, yet? Poor doggie! Are poblano chilies hot? Or the seeds? What did you stuff them with? Our mattress is about 23 yrs old, a double pillow-top - one is for spring/summer, and one side is for fall/winter. It's a bugger to flip, but it is so comfortable, still, after all these years. I've been told they no longer make matteresses like that because they last too long.
JANA - well, weren't you the heroine of the day yesterday! Finding long lost treasured items for your hubby! I saved my hubby's life yesterday (or at the very least part of his afternoon), so I was golden, too, for a little while. He was adjusting the gas hinge struts that lift the trailer mattress to access the storage beneath. He had to crawl in there and lower the mattress to mark where to anchor the hinges. And he couldn't get the mattress back up! He was stuck! Fortunately he had his phone with him and he called me to come help him. I was in the house, upstairs, in my sewing room. He didn't tell me what the problem was, just that he needed help in the trailer. When I got out there, I couldn't see him anyplace. but I could hear a faint voice calling me from the bed. (at first I thought it might be a trap. ;o} ). I would have had a claustrophobic fit, but he was OK. But the point of my story was - I was a heroine, too! You found your husband's item, but I found my HUSBAND!
CAROL - I'm glad, too, that your store is being sold rather than simply closing. Our quilt shop here has been sold 3 times in 3 years. It worries me. And how do you make your mustard sauce? I just put a dollop of Dijon in a white sauce. Sometimes a splash of white wine, too.
IRISH - if all went as planned, I believe you had a companion come in for Jim and you got out for lunch with friends. I sure hope that came to pass. How did it all go? Hope you had a long fun afternoon. And remind me again of the dates of your Ireland trip? Irish fabric would be great, easy to pack, souviniers of all the places you visit. What a great memento quilt that would make when you get back!
Tonite's supper will be pork chops, I think. probably baked as I still have two twice baked potatoes left. they can cook together. And I'll add a salad, of course. I almost always have salad. When you buy lettuce at costco, 6 heads to a package, you get busy eating it up before it goes bad.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Feb 24
Good morning from wonderful, glorious, warm, sunny, purrrrrfect, SW. Pa....I think you get my drift, it's really a super day here in the "burg"...
Mary, we're having spring/summer, you're back to winter, not sure what Mother Nature is up too...I'll bet the fur kids are puzzled at seeing snow. It was always funny when we would take the kids out and sit them in the snow, not funny for them, lol..BabyGirl decided to get some air the other evening. I had the window where they sit, up about an inch and a half and sure enough, she pushed it up, pushed the screen out and got on the porch roof...Of course I panic, thinking she's out in the dark, ready to run around the yard like a nut, only to look in the back bedroom and she's all curled up sleeping...She had had her adventure and came back in...The window now has a double screen in it and she will NOT get out again...My heart can't take it!
Our mattress is pretty much like the one you described..And for sure, it is hard to flip, especially if it's Frick and Frack doing the flipping...Thank goodness for grands....
Yesterday was great! We sat for over 2 hours, ate and gabbed and promised to do it again, soon.....But, it was nice to get out and the gal who came to sit with Jim couldn't have been nicer..This care group really gives you peace of mind, wonderful people...
Not able to chat too much, we're going to be running most of the day...Looking at floor samples, trying to find a dam that has scads of eagles, looking for an Amish shop my DDIL said we have to see and eating at (close your eyes, Mary), Long John Silvers...But, I promise I'll have the chicken..........Need to get Jim dressed and then, we're out the door......
You all have a great day,
Happy eating.................

Good morning!
Mary - yes, you are the heroine! Thsnk goodness for cell phones! Now that i found the missing piece, Michael can't renember where the other half is! Par for the course! I know itbis here, he never throws out things!
Irish - lunch out with friends is a good thing! Hope you get all the passport paper work done. To get our DL's here in Utah we had to get copies of our birth certificates and marriage license as well. Part were here in Utah and i had to send to California for the other parts - at least i have them now.
Dinner - time to eat through the leftovers - Aaron won't be eating as he is having his wisdom teeth removed this afternoon. All three of them, the 4th never developed.
Heading to the Batt Cave - must get a quilt off thhe frame and snd one made. The new one is a baby quilt for a little girl. Saw a picture of a really cute simple one on Pinterest that i am copying. I will use a jelly roll as it is long strips and some are made into a square, turned sideways and a couple of simple appliqued flowers. A afternoon project.
Need to get going,
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Feb 24
Oh, my gosh! What a difference a day makes!!! Yesterday we were feeling the warmth at 80 degrees. Today… all the warmth is gone. The “feels like “ is 31 degrees and has been all day. The wind is fierce and cold. I think the real temperature is around 40, and we’re going for 24 tonight. The high today is lower than the low temperatures earlier this week. I know, it’s winter, and I should be prepared… sigh! When it’s 50 degrees difference in one day… hard to accept or acclimate.
Oh, Mary—you are lucky to be in a “what to do” and not what fire can I put out first… I have too many “MUST GET DONE” projects all needing attention. I don’t blame you for staying home and not running the yellow cone and fresh asphalt gauntlet. I wonder the same thing… 80 now… what will (real) summer bring…? Glad that Bill’s misadventure had a happy ending!
Choc came through her surgery great! She doesn’t even have a bandage on her leg. I was down there with the Hooligans a little while ago… sad to say, I did not walk but drove. I’m on duty again through tomorrow afternoon late. She will get a pain pill tomorrow a.m.
The poblanos are pretty mild. They have more flavor than bell peppers, but don’t have the heat of jalapenos. They are the big, dark green peppers in the store. I just stuffed them with a little cheese and the bean/taco meat mixture. I baked them in a casserole dish until the peppers were tender and delicious.
Becca—You haven’t gotten new carpet or sofa or anything lately that you might have an allergic reaction? I really think that is what happened with me. I’d never had a problem other than that one year I lived in that house and worked for that manufacturer. So sorry you can’t find relief—you sure have my empathy.
Jana—your quilt sounds delightful! Hope to see a picture! I had to send to Cali for my birth certificate to get legal in Kansas and also to have for SS filing.
Dinner tonight… the last of the poblanos for me, the last of the burgers and fries for DH. We should both be quite happy. Tomorrow will be grocery shopping and visiting with Mom and my friend as well as granny dog duty—on my way to town and again on my way home.
I never got to sewing yesterday—we rode around in the lovely weather and cleaned out the blue bird and regular bird houses and added cedar sawdust (to kill mites and stuff) to the bottom of the boxes. We had at least one pair of bluebirds in the yard this morning, and we saw another pair or two checking out the real estate as we did our nest prep yesterday.
Bon appétit!

Good evening
I've been here 3 times today but like always I keep getting interrupted and then get a few minutes and come back and same thing LOL these boys can site make a person tired. I think we all have allergies, our winds and dirt blowing started 3 days ago pretty bad. .. it'll continue through May most likely. Dingy that I am was thinking maybe we wouldn't have the dirt blow because we've had all this moisture this year so I didn't start taking my allergyppills till yesterday. .... what on earth was I thinking? !
I'm not sure what we're having for supper. ... Frankie's brother and his sister and brother in law just called and asked if we want to go out and eat and they want to eat some place we've never eaten. ... so supper is a surprise LOL tomorrow Maria is putting on a BBQ for Kevin's birthday and it's potluck so I made the requested frog eye salad and my kitchen is already cleaned up
and I get to start my day tomorrow with a massage, Woohoo! So I'm looking forward to my weekend
hopefully I won't have to do very much cooking
Tina
