Good morning!

Still here in the desert and will be until Friday, I guess. The desert is nice, but enough is enough. All in town to do is flea markets and one thrift shop. And the used bookstore. A couple restaurants and that is it. Except for our generator which we ran a little in the morning and little in the evening we have no power so reading is the order of the day. To breezy to play cards. They blow away in the desert

Irish, it must be hard for you to get a good nights sleep hopefully today brings a nap Anxious to hear about Terry's job.

Jana, we do have a new digital antenna. Came w/ the new trailer. We got lots of TV here with our old antenna but none now. Oh well. We got reports text it to us from three different people so we were able to follow the game.

Becca, I assume you did not watch the game. I wasn't for either team too much either, but rooted for Atlanta. And they lost. But it was a very good game just the same

We cooked or chicken fajitas outside last night and they were so good. Tonight we will grill the rest of the chicken and have rice and a salad to go with, I think. Not sure if Terry will join our meals or not. If so, I will add some frozen vegetable as well and we will split the large chicken breast three ways.

Hey, look at me! I got here before supper time. LOL.
I have had a great day so far. I got busy and did my cleaning early. I always feel so good when the house is clean. I even used a bit of Frebreeze to freshen up the fabrics.
Then I sat down with the check book and computer and got all that up to date. Reviewed our budget for 2017 as well. What a headache! Every year the pension monthly figure goes down, social security has no cost of living increase anymore, bills go up and up and we have to juggle the budget and figure out where we need to adjust our spending. It always seems to work out, but I like to review everything and make sure all the expenses are covered.

Now this afternoon is our craft bunch meeting at club house. That will be fun.

Tonight I will fix Lasagna. Haven't had that in a long, long, time.

It always makes a big batch, so we will have left overs tomorrow.

You all are cooking some yummy meals. Not only are you the best quilters around, you are great cooks!!!

Hugs
Vel

Good morning :)
I have all 3 kids today because there's no school for the kids because of parent teacher conference. I made pancakes and sausage this morning plus filled my crock pot with soup fixings. It's a new soup for us so I hope we like it :) Kevin made it when he invited over Maria's parents and her sister to help with translation when Kevin asked Maria's Dad if he could marry her :) funny thing is the whole family showed up and all the soup got eaten and it wad a hit with all of them so we're trying it today :) it's a creamy tortellini soup.
I had some things I had to get done yesterday outside so I ended up outside for 4 hours and all that fresh air made me so sleepy that I almost couldn't stay awake through the supper bowl. ..I had to get up and clean the kitchen and made brownies. .. that was the only way I made it LOL
Mom and Dad are back home. Mom told me she drove the motor home home, ugh I got really mad! I did find out from the Dr that they can't take driving away that only DMV can. .. makes no sense, DMV doesn't know how weak she is that she can't even open her vehicle for so I consider her an extreme danger on the road. If a gust of wind cane up she'd probably lose control and wreck. I'm done venting, sorry.

Good late afternoon from a very sunny, going into the 50s, SW. Pa....It's going to be a good day, I'm hoping.....

Mary, I've never been to the desert and not sure I could handle it but I love sand...I just had the weather channel on and the PNW is really getting hit with snow...Schools are closed as well as an airport...Isn't this unusual for that area? I pretty much watched the whole game, loved the 1st half and wished for a different outcome...

Becca, the dish cloths you made, are they knitted? Boy, I wish I knew how to knit, love my knitted ones...And a friend just gave me a pot scratcher, crocheted with a new kind of yarn and it is wonderful...Really have to find out what kind of stuff it's made with...(It's not that mesh or net that's hard to work with)....Do you think by not knowing what's going to fall in our laps from minute to minute is keeping us young, lol....If that was the case, we'd probably be about 5, don't you think.......

Vel, well aren't you the busy beaver today? Sure wish that "urge" would hit here...Maybe our sun will help today...Figuring out the budget is a headache, isn't it? Sure no raises in our checks but when those bills come in, there's always a hike and most times, less service...Right now, I'm talking about our cable bill, mostly..That gives me major head aches, lol.....But, what are we gonna do....So far, we're very fortunate to be able to pay....Have a fun day and your lasagna sure sounds good......

Tina, hey girlfriend, you can vent all you want, I sure do my share...But, you really do have a full plate...I honestly thought the doctor had a say in taking away driving privileges...I'm sure around here, they can, maybe by writing a letter to the DMV, not sure...With Jim, it was kind of automatic...He kind of knew he wasn't doing a good job and different times would just say to me, maybe you should drive...Finally, I just took over and now, he'll say, "you know, I don't even have a license"...Kind of sad but much, much safer...Your creamy tortellini soup sounds good but probably wouldn't go with Jim...I could eat soup at almost every meal...........

Not sure what all our day will bring...We had another sleepless night but maybe I'll catch a nap later...Jim believes a friend of his has passed away (although we've talked to her recently and I know better). In fact, this was his 1st girlfriend, way back when, and we've been friends forever...She lives out of state but calls and visits when able..Jim felt he should sit up and wait for a call from the family and there was just no way to convince him otherwise....I sure wasn't calling her in the middle of the night, lol....He did talk to her son this morning and I'm hoping that did the trick.....One day at a time!

I'm hoping to get to play with the machine today, if just for alittle while..It's a good way to forget the problems....
And for our dinner, I am also making soup...I have left over roast and all the fixens for a pot of veggie soup (my favorite)...Yesterday, we bought some of our famous Isaly's chipped ham and some super buns, so that with the soup will be perfect....I'm not baking but Jim did pick up some store bought cookies so he'll be happy....

Happy eating.................

Eagle Update:

The nest at Berry College in Georgia is on PIP watch...Two eggs in that nest, due to start hatching any day...Our nests up here, in Pa. are looking nice and comfy, getting ready for those eggs.....

On the driving license issue. Here the DOMV goes to the Home & asked for them .the family contacts the DOMV & tells them the conditions of person & request they pick them up.My DH give it up voluntarily 20 yrs ago bec the Dr told him to stop driving due to strokes.
My Grandpa when he turned 80 turned his in voluntarily. He said he didn't think anyone over 80 should drive.lol

My other Grandpa never stopped & you were afraid he would kill himself & others also.
It's a hard issue to deal with.

Tina Prayers for you & for Dad & Mom.

Irish I must be 1 yr old.lolRoloF. Becca
Yes the cloths are knitted.Wish I was close & I would teach you.

Hi Becca - I find it amazing you have finished one! I am a bit over halfway on the second one, but at the rate you are knitting you will have three done and I didn't give you the pattern until I had the first one finished! Congratulations.

Mary - Sorry you cannot get any TV. We did not watch the game until the second half. During the first half we were at the gym and DH said he watched a little bit. We came home and had the game on and he watched, I was sewing binding and not really watching the game.

Vel - I always like it when the house is clean too. I emptied my refrigerator today and cleaned it. I got rid of some things and the refrigerator looks very nice.

Tina - On the driving issue, my Mom knew when to give it up. She was losing her vision and gave it up, but I think she should have done it sooner. I sure hope I know when to stop driving. Glad you had a new soup to try. That is a funny story about Kevin and Maria and all the relatives. They will have a good story to tell how they became engaged! lol

Irish - A friend of mine had some of that yarn that is scratchy. She knitted a cloth with it and planned to use it in cleaning pans. I looked for it, but haven't found any.

It rained here all morning. Very exciting! I did get out to the meat market and bought some chicken so I think we will have Chicken Piccata, salad, potatoes and a vegetable.

Have a great day!
Carol
