daily devotion Jan 31

Handfuls on purpose

Ruth was a poor Moabite widow, a stranger in Israel, a hated Gentile. She had journeyed with her widowed mother in law from Moab to Bethlehem. They arrived penniless and destitute. Routh went as the poor were allowed to do, to glean in a barley field to provide food for them to eat. The landowner found favor in her and had his servants drop handfuls of barley on purpose for her.

Ruth wasn't given handfuls on purpose without reason. She had chosen to follow her mother in law and worship her God. She had chosen to reap in the field of Boaz, a type of Christ. That means that she was gleaning in the field of the Master, and the Master provided handfuls on purpose for her.

Those of us who have chosen to receive Jesus as our Saviour and to work faithfully in His harvest field also have handfuls of blessings dropped for us on purpose. We have only to claim them.

Hugs prayers and God Bless

What a refreshing message, Izzy. We do forget that God's grace and love to us is "on purpose".

We should pay it forward - on purpose - to share our love and talents and treasures.

I recently read Ruth's story. She really was loyal to her mother in law and followed her.

Thanks Izzy. You are a good leader for us.
