SUPPER CLUB - Monday Jan 30th
Good Morning,
We were all up early this morning. Changing time zones going west is always difficult - even just one hour. We explained it to the 'kids' but they just swished their tails and headed for their breakfast dishes and sat down to wait.
We had a nice visit with Tina and Frankie last night. I delivered all the hugs from everyone who sent them! Now today, we'll move into Arizona and probably spend the night camped among the saguaros. My BIL is in Yuma for a few days and we are trying to get there to spend some time with him before he has to leave for home (Colorado for him).
VELDA - you are always welcome at the table! The procedure my DD is considering is simply invitro using a donar egg because her body doesn't produce eggs. That's been her problem all along.
BECCA - you are right - we have family and friends all across the U.S. and we love seeing them. But we just can't catch them all as it would be zig-zagging our way and time doesn't always permit that. But hopefully 'next trip' . . .
JANA - you did, indeed, have a long Sunday, but I'm sure you enjoyed Stu's presentation!
CHICKIE - we won't be going through any passes until we hit the Siskiyous in southern Oregon while traveling I-5. and we always watch the weather. If a storm is going through, we sit and wait it out before proceeding. I'm not sure I'd want a pressure cooker. All the old horror stories. Though they say the new ones are different now. But as DB Jim often said, "Looks dangerous. you go first."
CAROL - congrats on your first orange! Is that the first this year or the first ever? I would have thought orange season was about over by now. When we came through Bakersfield in early Dec, the trees there were loaded and we were able to pick all we wanted and take with us. So sweet!
Supper tonite will be the last of that pork tenderloin, diced up into a Rice-a-Roni mix. I'll add peas to it, I think for a one=pot meal and make a green salad. If it's warm enough, we'll be able to eat outside in the picnic table.
What's sounding tasty to you tonite?

Good morning
I've been MIA again, sorry about that. Saturday I spent with Holly and the kids and Kevin and Maria meet us so we all just goofed around and had fun. Frankie stayed home to pick the dogs up at the groomer and mow our yard because we have very green grass this year with all the rain we've had and up until a week ago very mild temps. He also just enjoyed some quiet time.
We enjoyed visiting with Mary and Bill so much! And I got to meet Foxy and saw how Scotty had grown up since he was just a pup last time and visited with Riley kitty and saw their new 5th wheeler! It was a lot of fun
I'm thinking tonight will be Italian something. .... I'll have to decide exactly what later and we'll have a nice salad too.
Mom is better I guess, she needs a shot in the hiney for her nastiness though. We got thereyesterday and she started yelling at Dad but it was telling us all that he does wrong and her wanting him to have a babysitter and she was cussing at him. ... made for a sad day for me and Dad was very upset and didn't want to eat but we talked him into us buying his lunch and eating in the motor home away from Mom. Kevin and Maria picked lunch up for all of us so we all ate in the motor home and had a nice visit and Dad seemed better when we left. Just tears me up sometimes. ....

Good morning!
I have a cold! Hate colds! Yesterday was the second day of orange picking and juicing them for the rest of the year. Boy, do we have a bumper crop this year . They are small this year, but juicy. Still have so much more. Going to make some orange marmalade one day this week.
Luke is finally on our time zone. He was getting me up early also after coming back from the east coast. Got him a new bed this past week and before the day was over he chewed the corner of it. Grrrrr now he won't sleep on it. What a brat. Oh well, maybe he will get use to it.
Today we are having sweet and sour chicken, rice , and a roll for DH.
Have a wonderful day!

Good morning! It was frosty this morning, but I’m hoping for 50s later… in time to walk to Ava’s with the Hooligans. Meanwhile… inside watching the birds at the feeder.
Mary—those horror stories are exactly why I’ve never tried to operate a pressure cooker! If it can’t be canned in a water bath… forget it! Just call me… Chicken!!!
Carole—your oranges must be wonderful! When I worked, our architect would bring me oranges from his backyard trees in Prescott. What a special surprise! I’ve never made orange marmalade, but my sister does. It’s probably my favorite jam. When we lived in CA, Mom used to take thick orange and grapefruit peels, slice them in strips and boil them in a syrup water until they were almost clear. They were then rolled in sugar and left to dry on top of the refrigerator while periodically rolling/shaking in the sugar. I absolutely loved that “candy”!!! Something about the sweet and bitter with the crunchy coating of sugar… They were so much better than commercial jelly orange slices!!!
Tina—I can’t imagine mowing the grass in January! We have had enough frost that everything is tan and brown here. The cows are eating hay. That’s just so sad to have to deal with your mom that way. Your dad definitely needed the break away from him. Too bad she doesn’t realize what a saint he is. She could be mad and nasty and all alone! So glad you had a good break to visit with the WA tribe!
I don’t know what is on the menu tonight… I might fix some burritos or enchiladas. That’s sounding appealing to me now… Who knows at six p.m.?
Safe travels, Mary! Enjoy your visit in Yuma! Our DGS and DS were fishing in the pond yesterday, and DGS’s truck was in the yard… a Ford 350. I told DH that it could pull a whole lotta camper!!! Didn't get much reaction. It would pull a big cattle trailer, too...
Bon appétit!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday Jan 30th
good afternoon from a snowy, cold, Sw. Pa...Although, we really shouldn't complain (too much) we only have a dusting, nothing like what is falling elsewhere.....Kathy sent me pictures of places near Tahoe where the roads are plowed and the snow is higher than those snow poles they put in along the road...Just unbelievable but very good for the water levels out that way......
Mary, you sure are traveling along, (note a little green in my writing)....You have certainly made friends all over this big country, haven't you? Just thinking about Autumn hurts my heart..Wanting so badly to have a little one and then so many in this world not wanting them....Just not fair! But, hoping and praying, this next step will be the right one and will bring happy results....And, if in reading one of your posts, sounds like maybe your little girl might be thinking of coming back home...We can only hope and pray with these kids of our's......Safe travels as you meander your way back home....
Tina, I think of you so often and when you are going through and remain sane, or maybe semi sane, lol...So glad you were able to have a nice lunch with your Dad, he certainly does sound like a saint.....If they do find that shot for nastiness, I know a few people that could use it........
Carole, (with the e), don't like to hear about the cold, ugh! But, you have the right cure, lots and lots of orange juice...Being able to pick fresh oranges has to be the best...One of the best memories from our trips to Florida was picking oranges and bringing tem back home...Of course one of the worst memories had to be having 1 rotten orange in the baskets and wondering what in the world that smell was, lol....Luke sounds like any other fur baby...Spoiled, by no means! I've made cats beds that are so comfy and mine end up trying to curl up in Jim's slippers.....Take care, get well fast.....
Becca, I guess you're back to winter also but hopefully, it won't stay too long...Hope you're feeling better and today will be a good one.....
Chickie, Wish we were getting into the 50s, would seem like summer...But, I keep thinking, if we looking up, we see blue sky and don't notice the white stuff on the ground....I have never had a problem with my pressure cooker and have used one for over 60 years...Never used one for canning but I couldn't cook if someone took my cooker, yikes...Although, I did have an uncle who took the lid off too fast and had potatoes on the ceiling.....I can remember my Mom making similar candy with the orange peels, so darn good......
Around here, just another day in paradise, maybe saying that in a slightly sarcastic tone, lol....When I get up, I never know what the day will hold, always an adventure or mystery...The flapper in the potty didn't flap so neighbor Ted, came up and put in a new one and also re-hooked up the garage door...Jim had pulled the cord and I didn't know how to re attach it...When Ted was leaving, Jim decided, he was going with him so off they went...Honestly don't know what I'd do without my neighbors, especially, Ted and his wife, Donna...They both have been a God sent, in helping with Jim and keeping me sane....
And along with the flapper, my cell phone died and I just discovered the microwave is on the fritz....But, you know, we still have that blue sky, so all is good.....
For our dinner, I found a chicken breast in the freezer and I'm hoping something materializes either in my head or in the oven...The pies that I had baked on Sat. are long gone so there is a chance I "might" be baking something..(cinnamon rolls keep popping into the noggin).....
You all have a good day, stay safe, stay warm....
Happy eating...............
