SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Jan 29th
Good Morning!
We made it 340 miles yesterday to Ft Stockton in West Texas. It will take another 300 miles before we get out of this huge state! Will be in Deming, NM tonite and will see Tina. A Texas friend gave me all the makings for a little pink and purple fairy quilt that I see Tina finishing for Jazmine. My TX friend thought she'd try to make this quilt for her DGD, but gave up. Also, there is a small stack of magazines from Cindy G that I am leaving with Tina. This should lighten the load! lol!
Traveling has been going well. Good weather though some headwinds are seriously cutting into our mileage. Towns here are no closer than they are in Alaska, so we keep a good eye on our fuel gauge and carry an extra five gallons - just in case.
IRISH - I sure hope Terry makes the right decision, and we know what decision that is!! Autumn made me quite happy when she told me one day that Texas is OK, but it's not her forever home, and a few days later she said the PNW would always be where she considered home. YES!! I can feel that she is starting to get restless and maybe thinking of looking for a job closer to HOME! Oh, and yes, that Instant Pot is also a pressure cooker. We found recipes for it on-line. I bet swiss steak would be amazing in it. I should tell Autumn to try that.
BECCA - I do hope the antibiotics help. Hate to see you sick again!
JANA - what is the snow situation at your house?
CAROL - Such a sad story with your knitting group. another storm? Sigh. It will probably hit us just as we settle in for a few days in the desert at Quartzsite. Oh well.
CAROLE with an e - you are really going on that Crazy Jane! I am going to confess to you - everyone else look away! - that about the last 7 of those triangle blocks, I appliqued rather than pieced. I'd STILL be there, working on them if I hadn't!!
CHICKIE - Egg Foo Yung for Chinese New Year! What a great idea! ;o) Though that chicken alfredo sounds awesome! Especially with the artichoke! That Instant Pot seemed nice, though it costs about $125. And it IS a pressure cooker, too. Did I say that? Pretty expensive repair on your Millie!! Guess DOYLE won't be buying any new fabric for a while!
SHIRLEY MAE - yes, like Carol said, I may not always have time or opportunity to post but I almost ALWAYS am able to at least read because someone has to keep an eye on these menues to make sure rules are adhered to! ;o) Enjoy your Mac & Cheese. It seems to be a favorite here . . . .
TINA - I'll be there shortly! Will text when we arrive in Deming.
you all have prayed for Autumn and her infertility treatments so I will share this with you. After 11 years and having just passed her 40th birthday, she says they have decided to take a break from that, try to save some money, and probably go for an egg(s) adoption, which is almost like adopting a child. This way at least Aaron can be the biological dad anyway. They are still mulling this over. and it costs more than in vitro attempts - which are $15,000 each. So that is where we are on that front.
Our dinner tonite will be all those leftovers- pork sandwiches and 4-bean salad. Quick and easy after a long day in the saddle.
What sounds good to you tonite?

Maryz: Thanks for making me feel welcome at this table, even though I am a hit and miss. Lots of days I get on the computer a bit in the morning and then don't get back to catch you all fixing dinner.
LOL
As for the banned food, here, well, I hate to say it but my DH has been requesting that I put that on my grocery list. I will make sure that I am in "hiding" the day that turns up on our table. LOL
The procedure that you mentioned for Autumn, is one I am not familiar with. So would she carry the child, or is it done with a surrogate?
At age 40 any pregnancy can be risky and quite a big deal. I will keep your DD in our prayers for a successful decision in this matter.
I don't have dinner figured out yet. Have to check the freezer and see what's available.
Hugs

Good morning!
Mary - we have about 18 inches on the ground. Roads are dry and the next set of storms are due in around Thursday. The snow pack is way over average for this year. It will help tremendouslyrics.
Dinner - simple banned casserole. Stu's and Ethan will be over for dinner as music season has started back up for the Eastern performances.
Today is Stu's homecoming talk. He will report on his mission experiences. We will go, since it is after all my meetings here, makes for a long Sunday.
Enjoy!
Be Safe!

Good morning! So good to see everyone here!
Oh, Carol—that’s just sad about your knitting group/shop owner/teacher… I hope Edna will recover completely—you all need her!!!
Shirley Mae—I’ve never had difficulty with the peroxide bleaching… of course, I used it mainly on white and light shirts and sometimes on white quilt fabrics. The other day the iron spit was on a color, and I did the peroxide quick and washed it all out. I’ve used it many times for blood.
Mary—that wind can really take down the mileage… do be careful!!! Especially through the passes. Does your truck have dual fuel tanks? The fairy quilt sounds perfectly girlie! I know Jazz will love it! I’ll have to think a lot on the Instant Pot. I’ve never used a pressure cooker—that would be a learning experience! I’m going to have to be careful with the fabric purchases for awhile… maybe not use the credit card… Best wishes to Autumn…
The chicken Alfredo was a hit last evening. I ate my whole artichoke, too. I think I have all the ingredients for egg foo yung… I’m still craving it… maybe dinner tonight for me. DH can have the rest of the Alfredo. It will definitely be leftovers of some kind… unless my egg foo yung wins.
Jana—I’m sure your snow is beautiful as well as beneficial. Of course you would go hear Stu give his talk!
Becca—sure hope you are feeling much better!
The shower spray is:
½ C peroxide (half cup)
½ C alcohol (half cup)
1 Tbsp Jet Dry
1 tsp Dawn
Approx 3 C water
Put it into a 32 oz spray bottle and add water to fill. Shake to mix. Store in a dark place. I try to save my dark colored spray bottles, as peroxide loses it’s “oomph” when exposed to light and air (that’s why it’s in dark bottles). I usually make up 3 bottles at a time… because that’s how many I have. It works just as well or better than the purchased kind. When they quit selling the refills, I started making my own. Some recipes say to use some essential oil for fragrance… I didn’t have any.
Vel—I live risky… I love the banned food and eat it with abandon much to Mary’s chagrin. I think she still loves me… barely. I’m like one of those sassy little kids… Moms still have to love them because they belong to them.
Today I’m doing laundry and plan to hang it out. It is supposed to be 53 today. I also will try to make some more Dresden plates. So far I have 5 sets of blades sewn into plates.
DH should be arriving for brunch. Wonder what his request will be today… Sundays may be pancakes or biscuits and gravy...
Bon appétit!

Good Evening!
Vel - Please note it is 7:50 PM here. I get busy and do not go to the computer until later in the day most days.
Today was early Mass, we came home to breakfast on biscuits, eggs and an orange freshly picked from our tree. It was the first one we picked and it was sweet!! Now I can have fresh oranges and please remind me to make some orange marmalade and keep some fresh zest!
I watched several hours of Mary Tyler Moore Show episodes this afternoon on TV while knitting. ("ME" TV, PBS, showed several hours this afternoon.) This evening DH took me to dinner, so no cooking. Tomorrow I will do the shopping.
Maryz - I will keep Autumn in my prayers. I hope she makes a decision to move closer to you as well. You are driving a lot of miles in one day! Hope you get a layover at Tina's! Enjoy your visit.
Chickie - Glad that formula works for you. What percent is the peroxide?
Becca - How are you feeling? DH ate all the chocolate cake too, so it will be yogurt for him.
Jana - Sounds like a very long church day for you, but very rewarding to hear Stu speak of his mission.
