SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Jan 27th
Good Morning!
Our party last night was very fun. And all the food was so good. And the campfire. and we draped colored twinkle lights in the trees surrounding our campsite. This morning we'll pack up everything we have outside and then go to autumn's about noon for the rest of the day.
CHICKIE - your dinner last night sounds delicious! I'm not sure what a 'chipotle in adobe' is but willing to give it a try. I told Bill about your Millie and her woes. He says it shouldn't be too expensive to fix. Praying he's right!
BECCA - Oh, I think the colorful balls are a great choice to go with your Sams! We can get labs drawn at 7:00 but I don't think there's any of MY doctors at work that early!
GQ - enjoy your shrimps cuz I'm headed home and the seafood ban will be reinstated! lol!
CAROL - are you just learning to knit or fine-tuning your skill? I've never picked up that art, though I've tried a few times.
IRISH - I'll keep my eye peeled for your lost message in case it goes flying by!
TINA - you are so busy now, I don't know how you could add a job to your overloaded platter of life. But knowing you, you could make it work! I hope you can all get the move done and the house set up again before your mom comes home. If I remember right, the doctor didn't want to send your mom to rehab last time she was in. Do you think he will this time?
SHIRLEY MAE - welcome to our table! And you are correct - "fruita de mare" (aka seafood of ANY kind) is banned here! It makes me gag! If you MUST have it, you refer to it as "mac & cheese". One of my favorites. Hope you are feeling better today.
JANA - white chicken lasagna sounds pretty good to me! I might have to try that. 6" of clear, huh. I believe we'll be taking the less-interesting, but safer I-5 going home.
For Christmas we got Autumn and Aaron an Instant Pot - a pressure cooker, slow cooker, saute-er, warmer, yogurt maker, rice cooker all in one appliance. So we are taking all the ingredients for Chicken Roma, a recipe we found on line, and going to work together to make it. Wish us luck! I'm not an appliance junky and neither is Autumn (thought my older DD, Lara, gets every new kitchen gadget that comes along). But Aut works long hours and we thought this might help out in the kitchen. We'll see. Going to serve the chicken (in a tomato based sauce with Romano cheese) over rice with a crisp salad.
If you wish me luck with our dinner tonite, I'll wish you luck with yours!

Good afternoon from cold, but not snowy yet, SW. Pa....
We'll give this a try to day and see if I can get it to work...Nothing worse than having a post go off into cyber space...But, whoever is out there is having a good time reading all my lost messages....
Mary, I've seen those cookers/pots and have wondered...Maybe that will be on the Christmas list for next year...Kathy told me, she ordered the copper chef pan and just loves it and is thinking that's on the kid's lists for next year....I'm waiting for someone to come up with a pot/pan that will "Plan/prepare/serve and then clean up"...That's on my list! Enjoy your day with Autumn....
Becca, Yep, winter is back but hopefully, it won't stay long...This is the time of the year when I would be in Florida but as much as I loved going, I honestly don't miss it other than being able to wear shorts and go barefooted, lol....I had a dear friend who was a knitter..She was well into her 90s and would play card with us...Each time, I'd stop to pick her up, she put a knitted dish cloth in my purse...She passed about 5 years ago and I'm still using those dish cloths, looking kind of ragged but still do the job...Much better than my crocheted ones..Our Cari knits and maybe 1 of these days, she'll teach me...And if you notice, I use the word maybe quite often....Hope your day is a good one.....
Today being cold, we're staying in and by gum, I'm going to sew...Yesterday, I thought we were home but Jim said he'd like to go to McDonald's, of all places, so off we went...Not my favorite place but if Jim will eat, that's all that counts.....
Doing a little laundry and waiting to hear from Cari...She and Matt are to come home this weekend and I might have to "fix" the bedroom again...Also, Terry might be coming up also...I need these kids to spread out their visits but it is kind of nice when they all get together...I'm just hoping the snow holds off until they're safely back home......
For our dinner, I'm thinking soup and grilled cheese....Needing something to warm up the tummy.....Also waiting to hear if I need to bake more than 1 pie, lol......
You all have a safe day
Happy eating.............

Good Morning Everyone!
Maryz and Becca - I took a few knitting lessons about 5 years ago then dropped it. Last June I joined a group knitting class. I have finished a prayer shawl, scarf and a dishcloth. I am working on a baby sweater. The teacher says that it is the same process to make a baby sweater as a larger one. My hope when I started knitting was to be able to make sweaters for myself. However, I really like working on the dishcloths. I am following a pattern and each row is different so it keeps it interesting. So I guess you could say I am an advanced beginner.
Maryz - Enjoy your visit with Autumn and let us know about the new gadget. It sounds intriguing. Safe travels!
Irish - Glad to hear Jim is eating. Did he order a milkshake yesterday? Maybe he saw the news where they were giving away 10,000 bottles of secret sauce away nationwide. Los Angeles had one location with 300 bottles. Guess what? People are selling them! Glad your post didn't end up in cyberspace today!
Becca - Hope you are working on those Sam's!
Today for dinner I am thinking of Stuffed Pepper Casserole.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Carol

Good afternoon! We are still chilly here. At least it’s above freezing.
Chipotle en adobe is spicy HOT. I like to use it in chili and things I want to give a kick back. It’s best to start with a small amount and work up. It’s roasted jalapeño peppers in a spicy sauce—comes in a jar or a small can in the Mexican section of the grocery store.
The beans were very good last night. DH liked the cornbread better and ate A LOT of it with honey or jam. I think he had it with jam for dessert. Tonight, I’ll be adding browned ground beef to the beans along with chili powder and maybe some more chipotle. It will now be served as “chili”. I’ll probably just keep some back for me without the beef, as I really liked the beans.
I’m pressing my Dresden plate blades and ready to start sewing “plates” now. Ask me how I know that peroxide washes stain from “iron spit” clean away… I used to iron late DH’s cotton shirts, which he wanted heavily starched, with a bottle of peroxide next to the ironing board. I “saved” at least a shirt a week. I would set my ironing board up in the kitchen with a movie on my little TV and iron the week’s shirts. If it was a good movie… sometimes the collars got a little “done” and the peroxide did its magic.
Ha, ha! Mary just thinks she bans seafood from my table…
Do let us know how the Instant Pot works. I looked them up, and they look interesting. I don’t get a lot of extra appliances, although the hunters convinced me I needed an Air Fryer. I use it some… need to do more with it. It’s pretty cool and definitely saves calories from fat, but I’m wondering if the Instant Pot might be more versatile. Did you get the extra lids and inserts? Curious minds want to know. I want to “fix and forget”!!! Too much cooking cuts into my sewing time!!!
Jana—that lasagna sounds divine! I’m going to have to make it here one of these days! I have wakened to 12” of “partly cloudy” in the past. It’s been years since we’ve had that much snow here.
Becca—I love knitting… just wish I could do more than stockinet knit and purl. Once I made a pullover vest but that’s pretty much it other than scarves and stocking hats. One year I made a dozen stocking hats for Christmas for the kids in the family. I doubt any of them got worn much.
Irish—I love those knitted dish cloths. I bet I could find some cotton yarn and figure out how to make squares. Or… I’ll just keep quilting… Glad you got an outing with Jim! Like you said, “If he will eat…” Let me know if you find the perfect pan to do the prep, cook and clean up! I want to serve it as “mine”.
Carol—I always want to make stuffed peppers after reading about yours… I’d like to have a big, knitted sweater. A friend made herself one 40 years ago, and it was too long. I got it and LOVED it. It’s gone now, but I’d still like to make one after all this time.
We didn’t have to go see the dogs today, so I’m staying in at my machine and going out to replenish the bird feeders. Since I put my dinner plans above…
Bon appétit!
