SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Jan 26th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Jan 26, 2017 1:11 am

Good Morning!

Yesterday was a quiet day. I spent the bulk of it working on my cross-stitch project and listening to an audio book. Our pick-up is repaired and back with us. Happy Day!! And our friends got their car back, too.

Today will be a BIG trip to Washatopia, our last laundry until home. Hopefully. Bill says he only brought 15 pairs of skivvies so I told him if we're not home by then, he'll be rinsing out a few of his delicates in the sink!

CHICKIE - I DID hear that story about the woman who killed her husband because he tracked up her wet floors. and the cops told their chief that no, they hadn't gone in to arrest her yet because the floors weren't dry. haha! Did Doyal get the moral of that story? Have you heard about your Millie yet? I sure hope it's not anything crucial. Or expensive. Our bill was just under $5,000 but covered by insurance, thank heavens.

TINA - what was the job you were going to apply for? and how is your mom doing?

BECCA - I bet your Sams will be so cute! I've seen him with a fishing pole, bucket, a leash with a puppy on the end of it, corn cob, shovel, etc. Though these days, you might freehand a cell phone, computer, or maybe a Sue's hand!

HELEN - hello! Nice to have you pull up a chair here at supper club's table! Wishing you an easy eye surgery and quick recovery.

IRISH - what a good plan: get the place 'redded' up and then leave! It can't get dirty again if you aren't there. Or can it . . . ??? Gremlins work 24/7, I believe! Hope you had a nice ride!

GQ - nice weather here in Texas for salads! Or least it was.

Tonite we are hosting a farewell BBQ at our campsite and invited all our local friends. And some of them invited more folks. We'll be 10-12 people. We're doing pork tenderloins and Bill is making pineapple upside down cake in his dutch oven. I'm making a broccoli salad and 4-bean salad. Others are bringing food, too.

Wish all y'all could be here, too!

Good morning! Frosty here, but warming… I hope!

Yes, my truck has a little oil leak under the tappet covers that was causing the smoke. It’s in the shop and will be fixed maybe by tomorrow evening… if not Monday or so. I had used less than half a quart of oil, so that’s why no lights were flashing on the dash. No insurance coverage on mine, unfortunately. I’ll just buy less fabric for a bit.

Ah, you get the Superior Threads newsletter, too. I’m not sure I even told Doyal… you’re right, the moral would go right over his head or under his feet.

Becca—I look forward to seeing your Sams. I know they will be so cute and so very “boy”. My friend made a little quilt from a kit that had 9 Sams (maybe 12) and each had a little different “setting”. The blocks were maybe 5” or smaller.

Tina—I think I missed the job… You have so much to do already, although “being at work” is a good way to avoid a lot of drama! (How do I know this???)

Mary—your farewell party sounds fun as well as delicious! Shelly’s pineapple upside down cake she made for Christmas was soooo good. Wish I were there with y’all!

And, y’all will be proud of me… I actually have dinner in the oven now! I sautéed onions and mushrooms in the dutch oven, then I added andiouille sausage, mixed beans, corn, a chipotle in adobo, canned tomatoes and even some chopped asparagus and broccoli stems from the freezer. Hopefully, at dinnertime I’ll have a pot of chili-bean soup, and I can make some cornbread either in the cast iron skillet or in some of the cast iron corn stick pans I “resurrected” and re-seasoned. If DH doesn’t like my “soup”, I’ll have a lot to eat myself. It’s starting to smell really yummy… at least to me. There’s not much sausage, so it’s healthy, and that worries me… LOL!

Bon appétit!

Good Morning Everyone!
Maryz - Your farewell dinner sounds wonderful! I hope you get home before you have to do laundry again. Glad to hear the truck is now fixed.

Chickie - Funny story! Sorry about your little truck!

Tina - I, too, think you are too busy for a part time job.

Becca - The Overall Sams are very cute. They will be a perfect baby quilt.

Today's dinner will be leftover Parmesan Chicken and Mashed Potatoes. I will add a salad and vegetable.

I have one side of the binding to hand sew. It is black and I am taking my time. I am going to a knitting class this afternoon so I can find out what to do next. One sleeve is just about done.

Have a great day Everyone!
Carol

Mary, sounds like a party at your place tonight :) enjoy! The job was billing and collection at a small furniture store in town, I might go in to H&R Block and see if I can get my foot in the door for next year.
Chickie, LOL yes work can be an escape ;) your supper sounds yummy.
Becca, I think overall Sam is so cute, hope we get to see yours :)
Carol, I've tried to learn to knit from one of my Sister in laws, she's not a good teacher so I'm stuck, I keep thinking I'll watch YouTube videos one of these days :)
I think supper tonight will be Chile soup :) we were cold this morning 21!
Mom is in the hospital with pneumonia again, they are not letting her talk to anyone and monitoring her. Kevin was with them yesterday getting more stuff ready to move when her home health care nurse decided it was time to call an ambulance so that's what she did, I'm glad. Dad said last night he's going to see if he can get the Dr's to put her in rehab for a couple weeks before coming home because he's having a really hard time taking care of her because she can't walk by herself. He said he might also get moved in that time too. Prayers that all that happens.

Good Morning or almost noon. Got up with a migraine so Rod is planning our supper tonight. But, then, he plans lots of our meal. Should have been a chef. I don't cook much anymore, just when he doesn't feel up to doing it.

Last I heard, will be homemade mac and cheese with white cheddar. He grew up in Corning, NY near where Vicky lives. They always used white cheddar but used to be hard to find in MO. Trying a new recipe that calls for baking in oven and a few diff ingredients. Still hasn't decided on the meat, maybe pork chops.

I just started reading this thread a few weeks ago and it is fascinating. You all make me hungry with your supper choices but give me ideas too. Thank you. You also chat a lot and I enjoy that too. But I understand that we are not allowed to talk about sea type things and we have that a lot. We really are having mac and cheese. LOL I would be happy with just that.

I don't post much these days but try to read when I can. Rod's back surgery was a success so no longer uses a cane or a walker to get around. He did manage to have sinus infection, bad one, over the holidays and just a few days ago, gout reared its ugly head.

But we do what we can, when we can. I hope to join a bible study group with a dear friend. Didn't go today due to a migraine really bad this am. But life goes on and we take it one day at a time, the way the LORD planned it. My friend understands.

God bless you all today and always. Happy cooking and quilting.
Shirley Mae

ps Pineapple cake made my mouth water so enjoy. Need to make that one of these days again.

Good late Afternoon!

Mary - your party will be wonderful! What out for the storms. We were supposed to be clear and no snow for a week, we'll we just got about 6 inches of Clear!

Tina - prayers for your mom and hope that your dad can convince them for the rehab. Then maybe the move could be over and done by the time she is at her new house.

Shirley May - glad you joined Us! I love the banned Mac and Cheese! Most any flavor.

Chickie - you dodged a bullet with it only being a tappet cover. We had one that was a very slow leak for years on old car.

Becca - I love beef stew - my aunt had a recipe from a old White House cookbook for Eisenhower Beef Stewart- it was yummYou!

Gardenquilter- I could eat at you house too!

Irish - one of these eons of time, we will get to see all those lost posts we have done - should keep us out of trouble for awhile.

Dinner is a experiment. Found a white chicken lasagna. Ingredients all look good, so will give it a try.

Enjoy!
Jana

Edit after dinner - the lasagna was a hit and a keeper - if wanted I will share the recipe - easy too.
