daily devotion Jan 24

John 6:31
31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

Two verses for you today. During the 40 yrs the children of Israel journeyed in the wilderness, God fed them manna from Heaven. That manna was a type of Jesus, the Bread from Heaven.

The people were to gather fresh manna every day except on the Sabbath. Each day they were to gather only enough for that day. If they tried to gather more it would spoil. That tells us that we should gather fresh manna from Heaven every morning. What a good example: If we don 't come into the Father's presence for fresh blessings each day, our spiritual life will grow stale or spoil.

Jesus is ready to give us bread from Heaven each day. He knows what we need, and He is ready to supply that need. After the disciples had fished all night and caught nothing, Jesus met them on the shore in the morning with bread and fish prepared for them. He knew that they were tired, discouraged, and hungry, and He met their need. Just so, He knows what we need and HE is ready and able to supply that need. But we must dive into His word for each and every blessing.

I loved Jana's thought: If we were put on trial today, would there be enough evidence to convict us of being a Christian? HMMM pondering that myself.

Hugs prayers and God bless

Izzy We must get feed everyday just as we need spiritual food everyday. We need both kinds of nourishment to stay filled for facing whatever comes into our lives. We do become stagnant if we don't stay in the scriptures & pray daily.Gods word is rich in Treasures waiting for us to discover. Becca

He is so ready to open the windows of Heaven and pour out blessings for us.

As the disciples fished and we're unsuccessful, Christ from the shore, told them to throw their nets on the other side - they listened and obeyed - and we're successful. Since all things created by Christ obey his word, the fish did too. It may not seem intuitive to us to change sides of a boat to fish, we must still obey the counsel given and we will get the blessing.

There is a scripture, "There is a law irrevocably decreed in Heaven, before the foundations of this world, that when we obtain a blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated."

So simple - just do what He says.

Just saw this quote - appropriate for today

"The bible is meant to be bread for daily use, not cake for special occasions"
