SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Jan 23rd
Good Morning!
I think we're supposed to have a nice day today, without any wind! I think we'll be playing cards (Golf card game) with the neighbors today in our trailer or at the picnic table if it's warm. And a big thank you to TINA for posting a photo of my bike quilt for me. Photobucket insists my account is full (which isn't true) and I have to pay to post more pictures. I'm not doing that. Anyway, if you check out my quilt, the bike is lime green with tiny white polka dots, not yellow. Hard to get a good photo in such a cramped space as our trailer. And now I've packed away my machine and all other sewing. I'll be working on a Christmas cross-stitch project this week.
JANA - did you survive the snowstorm and get back home OK? Our church will cancel Mass if weather is dangerous. That was one huge snowman! We used to get big snows and I remember my brothers, when they were teens and I was very little, built a huge one on the front lawn. They used a big ladder to get the top of it built. My little sis and I watched through the windows. You brought back a happy memory for me!
BECCA - one day I will make an Overall Sam quilt. I did make a SBS for a baby two years ago. I used lots of different pinks for the dresses and bonnets. Were your Sues different or all the same?
IRISH - good thinking on your part to call Jim's bluff. I think you told us that the doctor said to 'go with the flow' as much as possible with him and it worked! I'm sorry, I couldn't stay awake long enough to see the end of your game, but Bill did! And also sorry the Steelers didn't take it. Both 'my' teams lost yesterday.
CHICKIE - yes, the cookies are a rip off and they don't even try to hide that fact. It's a "fund-raiser". I was never in Scouts but was in Campfire. We sold our mints (about 40 to a box) for 50 cents. Now they are $4 or $5/box and 1/4 the mints they used to contain! Ditto with the World's Finest Chocolate Bars - 4oz for 50 cents. Now they are $2 for 2 oz. How were the ribs last night? Did they stick to your - uh - ribs? hahahahahahahaha
CAROL - I will try to remember when I get home to mark my pattern for the mod pineapple. Thanks for the tip. Sometimes, I have to dispense with poorly written directions and just follow the illustrations. My bike quilt was kind of like that.
TINA - I hope you're not coming down sick. I also hope you're not having really bad weather because this time next week we'll be there! Actually next Monday morning, we'll be already leaving Deming. And just to clarify, I believe you meant to say MANY donations, not MARY donations. lol! I'm happy so many are pouring in but I can't take THAT much credit!
Last night I made linguini and then sauted onions, red sweet pepper, broccoli, sausage slices, garlic, and walnuts and added it all to the pasta with olive oil, basil, and parmesan. so good! We had a little leftover so I will build on that for tonite. I might put in black beans this time with sun-dried tomatoes.
Have you got any good ideas for tonite's supper?

Hello! We are going to have a pretty day here, too. I have to drive my friend’s car with her to Joplin to return a rental. She totaled her car over Christmas week when she hit a deer. She’s now purchased a car in town, but the rental has to be returned to Joplin. That will take up my full afternoon. No sewing or sewing room cleaning…
Mary—your bike quilt is so much fun! Love the photo—thank you, Tina! The ribs were delicious! They had gotten a new smoker/grill—pellet fired, and they were trying it out. I like fund raisers where the funds actually go to the organizations—at least half or more of the price. I’d rather make a full donation than purchase something that the school/organization only gets 10% back.
Irish—what a sad game! I was rooting for the Steelers. We watched it while at DS’s enjoying the ribs and after with a cup of coffee.
Once again I’ve proved I’m allergic to housework. Yesterday I was sweeping the floors and working hard. I ended up with a debilitating headache that totally incapacitated me. Seems they always come on when I’m doing housework. LOL! It’s really not intentional. I’m sure they are sinus related—been down that route 40 years ago… Still, it’s frustrating. I didn’t get back into my sewing room at all yesterday and won’t today, either… unless I sneak in a few minutes now…
Dinner… pizza re-runs. Mary—I would totally pile your last night’s dinner on top of my crust instead of linguini… sounds so delicious! It wouldn’t fly on the other side of the table at all—too many non-meat items! I do thin and crispy veggie pizza for me with lots of tomato-based sauce. DH’s is thick, pan pizza with little sauce and lots of pepperoni and some cheese. I “cheat” by using the turkey pepperoni instead of the greasy kind and adding some “good” olive oil to try to make it a little healthier. I also did whole wheat crust. I have salad makin’s and may stop at the store on my way home for some more.
Bon appétit!

Hello everyone, rain has stopped & wind is blowing hard bringing in the cold.
After a nite of thunderstorms & very hard rains.Tornados south of us yesterday.
Killed several people.
Chickie the GS Cookies were 4.00 box & 15 per box.I must say the Carmel delights are yummy. But it is a rip off for the scouts I feel.I too make myself veggie pizza & DH is loaded with meat We would get along fine.
Maryz I made my dresses different colors on this one & the bonnets different.I have made several SBSs in the past. The overall Sams will have different shirts but all the same jeans of denim..
I too use the picture to look at a lot of times instead of the reading instructions. Some instructions are poorly written.
Tina Hope you're feeling better today. Those little ones must keep u on your toes.
Irish I find it's always better to agree or just be silent. He is controversial now where he didn't use to be.Never gets dull.lol I watched the Falcons win.My nephew lives in Atlanta & is a huge fan.I watched 2 good BBall games on Sat.Both my teams won.
I enjoyed quilting this morning.Soon as I walk in Door DH tells me I will be sorry I wasn't home.Avery & DD face timed for a long time with Papa.Glad he had company while I was gone.
We have leftovers spaghetti, will add salad. Becca

Good afternoon from a very wet, dreary, rainy and all that crap, SW. Pa.....It might be a dreary day but it's going to be a good day, I can tell......
Oh Mary, just want to say, you are a great host but not good to have rooting for our teams....Guess you'd better stick with the quilting, we know you're great in that department.....
Ladies, I spent some of the evening with Mary and as I said, she's a great host...But, she was rooting for the Steelers and the Falcons and we all know what happened to them, lol....
But, I'm not real sad that the Steelers lost...As I've said before, I'm not that true fan I used to be...But, I am looking forward to the Super Bowl and hope the Falcons take it, just for Cari's DH, Matt....
Who did you say you were making the bike quilt for? It is really, really nice, love it!
Chickie, glad to hear someone is having good weather....Hopefully, you'll send it on this way...But, we really can't complain, this hasn't been a bad winter so far...Hope you get to do something fun on your "trip" today.....I laughed at you talking to your UPS man...The fellow who brings Jim's Ensure is so darn quick, I don't have a chance to even get a peek...One of these days, I'll get him!
Not much fun happening in this neighborhood today....I'm giving the new washer a work out, going to clean upstairs and then hopefully, play with a couple blocks....
The big news, Jake is back! I'm beginning to think what Mary said the other day might be true...When he comes home, he's just as fat and really doesn't have that "worn out" look...Someone is taking good care of him...He was so funny, as soon as I opened the door, he started talking and boy what a story, just sorry I couldn't understand...He is quite the character....
For our dinner, I'm thinking about that chili or maybe a scrambler...We did have the spaghetti last night, made with Kathy's home made sauce (so good) and I could use the left over sauce in the chili, but we'll see.....
Happy eating................

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Jan 23rd
Good afternoon!
Late today - had a five minute appointment with the DDS. He installed my new crown. My kind of appointment.
We first had to shovel our way out of the house. Not much more fell, but enough that it needed to be removed. Then as we were backing out, the plow came by for the street, so we waited for him. It is now snowing hard again. In fact, Sarah was going to stop at the store for veggies, decided it was too cold and snowy, so she is invoking parental privilege of sending Stu to the store a little later. I told Stu that would happen often, now he has his license.
Mary - you were Fast! That quilt came out Great!
Chickie- I could do reruns of pizza here anytime - the kids all love It!
Becca - oh spaghetti sounds good Too!
Irish - I watched both games - rooting for the teams that lost. I was so hoping that the Steelers would win. So I will root for Atlanta, anyone but the Patriots! Chili is in the running here too.
So you see I haven't settled on dinner - about the only thing for sure is a batch of cinnamon rolls for afters. I have leftover stroganoff for my lunch.
Enjoy,
Jana
