SUPPER CLUB - Sun, Jan 22

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Jan 21, 2017 10:46 pm

Good Morning!

We've had wind since about 6pm yesterday. And it's still blowing. So nice I'm awake to experience it. NOT!! I was just telling Bill yesterday how well I've been sleeping since we arrived in Texas and here I am - awake since midnight. I have the fur kids confused!

We were gone almost all day yesterday - brunch with Autumn & Aaron, grocery store, LQS, home for 2 hours, and then off to the weenie roast which was really a lot of fun and in a beautiful place along a river. Even the hot dogs, nicely charred on the grill, were good! But the wind came up, spoiled our fun, and we were home by 7:30pm.

With the wind predicted to stick around most of the day, I'll stay inside and finish up my bike quilt. Once I got going on it it turned out not to be so confusing after all. It's one of those patterns that goes better if you follow the pictures rather than the instructions.

VELDA - glad you got to go to Rockport. Our good friends here spend a lot of time there in a Passport or Coast to Coast park. They seem to love it.

IRISH - I'm wondering if Jake is being slowly adopted by another family and he's just returning for visits to his old friend. Sorry about Jim's restless night. Send him here and he and I can roam the hall together and you can sleep. Though the 'hall' here is only about 2-1/2 feet long! lol!

BECCA - isn't the Boy SBS called Overall Sam? I've heard other names for him, too. They would be so cute together!

CHICKIE - your crew certainly loves you! And what's not to love?? I love both you AND your hooligans! I've never thought to use a heating pad to raise dough. I've always turned the oven on low as it will go and set my bowl on the open door. Or set it by the wood stove if we have a fire going. You've always got a good idea!

CAROL - I think I bought that Mod Pineapples pattern. No class though. And yes, if weather is bad going home, it will slow or stop us. We have no problem sitting and waiting out storms. And our phones have weather apps which are fairly accurate so it's nice to be able to check on forecasts for areas we are passing through.

TINA - how goes it? I hear the good fairies have dropped some donations off for the comfort quilt projects! Yay! Hope you have room to store it all!

I usually ask Bill what he might like for supper but he might not appreciate me waking him at 3:45am to take his dinner order, so I'll just say it might be pesto pasta or it might be pizza. Or it could be chili-mac. Guess I'll wait and be surprised.

Is your supper going to be a surprise, too?

Good morning!

We are hunkered down with this next storm. I am at church, it lasts 3 hours and we are to start having snow before that. Hope I get Home! LOL It's so far away - a block and a half.

Dinner is tacos.

Our neighbors built a 2 story tall snowman with this last snow that fell - it is Huge! Sarah has a picture and when I get it I will share.

Mary - welcome to Herriman. The wind blows like that all the Time! But at least my house is anchored down. That bike quilt is going fast.

Enjoy,
Jana

Maryz Those winds are something I don't care for & DH Doesnt either. You have really gone to town with the bike quilt. It sounds interesting. You are right it's overall Sam.. I made one for Sawyer when he was born.It was cute.I put a row of chevrons on each side of his.Think this one will be cute.

Jana Wow don't envy you with all that snow.Sure the big snowman is a show stopper.

I made my spaghetti!will add salad & crusty bread.DH bought 2 boxes of Girl Scout cookies yesterday. They are yummy, one kind he got I don't like thank goodness.lol
I checked to see just how much the troop gets from a box.50 odd cents.Pitiful.

Good afternoon from another warm, semi sunny, Sw. Pa...I'm thinking the rain might be headed this way but as long as it's not snow, I'm happy.....

Mary, hate to hear you're having a sleepless night...Jim would probably rather sit up with you than he does me....I tend to get just a little crabby...The other night, about 2:00, after hearing him say, he wanted to go home, I put on my coat over the PJs and said, OK, let's go! I was ready to take him for a ride and hope when we came back and pulled in the garage, he'd be satisfied.. I guess I shocked him and he said, no, he didn't want me driving any where....Just wish I could have a peek inside his thinking....When I see you post DSIL's name Aaron, I think of our Chris's DD, Erin, who is married to an Aaron and they live near Dallas..She has lived down there for years and they just had a very small wedding this past summer...Chris had met this fellow several times and really, really liked him, so I'm sure he's looking down and giving his blessing...(Oh darn, when does that hurt go away?)
You asked about my cross stitch project...WELL, I figure sitting here watching the Penguins, I should be doing something so started doing the little hand towels...I try to keep some on hand, just for those little, thank you gifts and my supply has disappeared....Kevin's wife, Cindy, just told me, she started a picture of Pittsburgh and the instructions are 30 pages long..AND if you would see the thickness of her glasses, I honestly don't know how she does any of this....Her work is amazing.....I'm kind of thinking on the same menu for dinner......

Jana, Sure have been thinking about you and all that snow...Just this morning, they showed that festival on the Weather Channel and everyone coming into town said they were so happy for the snow...Kathy told me, they were on "High Alert" for snow...She said, snow, normally you see the alert for wind but snow? Years ago, we had lots of snow and the kids all gathered at the corner and built snow person and boys being boys, made this person into a woman...Thank goodness, it warmed up and the very big snow woman melted....Kids! I always did enjoy, when we'd get the snow and everything would be cancelled and I'd have the kids home...Those were fun days, lots of good memories...Our yard being mostly on a hill, was the place to for everyone to bring their sleds...Would love to go back....
But, you stay warm and please be safe.....

Becca, I hope you're having good weather like we are...And of course, hope your day is a good one.....

Not sure what I'm going to get into today...Was trying to re arrange some totes of fabric and should get back to "THE" quilt...If I were like Mary, that darn thing would have been done a long time ago.....

We will be watching the football games today...I think the Falcons come on around 3:00 or so and then the Steelers are on about 6:30....As for dinner, could be like Mary's or maybe Chili, just not sure......

Happy eating....................

Good afternoon! We were rainy and windy here earlier—wind out of the south. Now the wind is out of the north, and the rain has stopped.

Well, I was going to say “leftover pizza from last night” for dinner, but we just received an invitation to DS2’s for smoked ribs at six. Of course, I accepted heartily! I’m making guacamole and taking a bag of chips, too. I might make some brownies.

Irish—the “large” snow woman reminds me of one my DD and I made one year. We don’t get enough wet snow to make big snowmen very often. I guess that’s good for the animals…

Jana—that’s a LONG way to church!!! How did your neighbors get that snowman constructed? Buckets of snow and a ladder? That must have been a sight!

Becca—I made Overall Dan (Sam) for my DGS when he was a baby. His name is Daniel. I did 6” blocks hand appliquéd and hand quilted it. I used a bunch of plaid shirt factory scraps for the shirts and sashings. Isn’t that a rip-off on the Girl Scout cookies!!! When I was in scouts, they were 25 cents a box and went to 30 cents. I think they were still a dollar when DD was in Brownies. I don’t know what they are now.

Mary—you get more quilts made while I’m still looking at patterns… You are so amazing! Oh, Doyal would NOT like to be interrupted during sleep time—even to ask what he wanted for dinner. Good plan to keep quiet!

I need to go make my guacamole and change out the laundry loads…

Bon appétit!

Good Evening Everyone!
Today I got the binding on one of the quilts for the quilt show. I placed the label in one corner and put the hanging sleeve on the opposite end under the binding on the back of the quilt. This will save hand sewing time. I have started sewing the binding down on the back by hand.

Tonight's dinner was Navy Bean Soup and cornbread with Pumpkin Ice Cream for dessert.

It has rained all day here, so we stayed in. The soup and cornbread were in the freezer. Love that freezer!!

Maryz - If you bought the Mod Pineapple pattern beware of the 3" Strip instructions if it says to cut 7 strips of the background, don't! You only need 2-1/2 strips. It is a new pattern though and the instructions other than that were well written and easy to follow.

Jana - Hope you got home! We went to early Mass before it started raining really hard. It was nice to stay home.

Becca - Even when the GS cookies were 50 cents the troop only got 5 cents. At least that is what my Mom told me. Often I will give the troop a donation and not buy the cookies.

Chickie - Your Overall Sam sounds cute. Lucky you getting a dinner invitation!

Irish - That was nice of Jim not to make you leave the house at night. Good bluff on your part though. I always wonder what little kids think before they begin talking.

Think I will go and sew binding. (You will find me watching TV in my recliner with quilts covering me quite a bit in the next month!)

Hi everyone! I started to post on here several times and kept getting sidetracked. We had Klobase and salad tonight. Mary donations for the comfort quilts are really putting in :) everyone is doing a fantastic job of helping us! Sorry this is so sorry but I'm on my phone all wrapped in a quilt because I'm cold cold cold and my battery is almost dead.
Sleep good :)
