SUPPER CLUB = Sat, Jan 21
Good Morning!
The days are going too quickly. We are leaving here a week from today. our friends have suddenly realized this and our social life has picked up = more happy hour camppfires, more visits, more outings. Tonite will be a weenie roast. There's hardly time to sew! lol! This morning we are meeting DD and DSIL for brunch. Then a little bit of shopping for something to take to the weenie roast - a fruit platter perhaps.
TINA - Regarding your parents, you might start moving the small stuff first - cars, storage trailer, etc. It can all be rearranged later if they want, but when everything but the SW trailer is moved, your folks might be willing to finally get with the program. I'd let your brothers take the higher profile role as much as possible. I know from experience, that parents always listen to sons before they take anything a daughter has to say.
BECCA - we LOVED traveling the Parkway. I think we took 3 days to do it. It was great that there was no commercial traffic at all. I thought you were going to make the twins' quilts very similar but just different color.
CAROLE - Yep, I hate leaving Scottie for hours. I feel so guilty. Though the truth is, the word 'codependent' has been mentioned a few times, but I slapped that thought out of the air! lol! I know he just sleeps, but still . . .
CHICKIE - they make some nice grills these days. We've seen them priced everywhere from $30 to $2500. Surely there is one in there that would suit you. Gas or charcoal? I bet those little quilts were cute!
JANA - I'm so sorry about the loss of your great nephew. so sad! Prayers for you all. My oldest niece, Lisa, is only 9 years younger than I, too. I bet now that your kids have that locked into their contract, the builder will finish on time for certain! But I hope he does quality work.
My bike quilt is past the halfway point. I should have it finished by tomorrow. Next day for sure. Then it will be time to pack all the sewing away. This is the last of the projects I brought with me.
and tonite, weenies! Not my favorite, but OK. Especially if I'm not cooking!
Are you cooking tonite?

Good afternoon from a warm, sunny, very spring (almost summer) like, SW. Pa...Not sure what the temp is but it's darn nice.....I talked to Kathy and she's having snow...Mother Nature is really playing games this year.....
Mary, it's hard to believe the trip is coming to an end....I don't like when time flies this fast....I too, worry about leaving the fur kids and it's funny, people will say, you can leave cats for a couple of days, they'll be fine! Not our cats, these babies need someone to visit 3 times a day and make sure they have their food and especially their treats...I'm not saying they are spoiled but, would you leave your human baby for days????Donna, our neighbor, takes extra good care if we're away but I still feel bad...I'd like to get a live in pet sitter...Oh well, enough of that, I'm not going any where until maybe August...Hot dogs aren't my favorite either but if they are done on the grill, that's not too bad..Of course, I need the potato salad and baked beans to go with....I can't get over how quickly you get quilts put together...Me, I'd still be picking out fabrics....For sure, we need to see a picture of this one....
Jana, so sorry to hear about your nephew...My heavens, much, much too young...From talking to Kathy, most travel out that way is bad, especially the Donner Pass...My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family...Terrible!
Becca, As many times as we've been to N.Carolina, we've never traveled the Parkway, passed the entrance several times and kept on going....We might get back down that way for Nicky's graduation so there's still a chance.....Our Kevin and a bunch of friends rode their Harley's down and just loved it....Hope your day is a good one....
Chickie, So, you're getting a grill? We have a propane gas one sitting on the back patio and I really do love it...Of course, it's not too good in the middle of cooking a burger or steak and the tank runs dry...
Tina, sure hope things get better in the moving department...Years ago, when Jim and I were moving from the "big" house to this house, the kids showed up on a Sat. and literally moved us...But, it was just next door so it really was OK..
Also just got back from the PO and your box is on it's way, finally....
Today is another "ugly" day, doing some vacuuming and dusting...Jake, the outside cat, has decided to go on another adventure so I've thrown his bedding in the washer...If he brings his girlfriend home, I was things to be nice and clean, lol....
Jim is outside raking leaves and cleaning the back porch...He had a very bad, restless night and we were up until about 4:00, so my brain is kind of foggy...Hopefully, tonight will be much better....
For our dinner, if it's not burgers on the grill it will be hot meatloaf sandwiches with gravy and either left over baked potatoes or I'll cut them up and fry them with onions and peppers.........We picked up good ice cream sandwiches the other day, so that's afters......
Happy eating................

Hello everyone,rainy here now.
We got our errands completed and ate lunch in town.Got my thread to finish appliqué on quilt.
Maryz I guess I will do the same for boys quilt only put little boys instead of SBSs.Prbably may need another blue. Will see when I get it all out.Last wk I didn't move at my normal speed. Finally feeling better.cant beat the Parkway for beauty and being peaceful.45 is speed limit & I love it.My DB that passed lived right off Parkway in two of his houses. He always loved it.Rode his bike on it a lot & also climbed Grandfather Mt which was a steep one.He used to jog on the Parkway also.

Howdy! I had a nice lunch with Mom today after I vacuumed all the floors for her. We had the chicken, walnut, apple, cranberry salads from Braum’s. After I left her, I stopped at a reception for a lady who turned 100. She was great friends with Dorothy (Anna Mae’s mom) and attended our wedding with her. When I drove into the lane, I was greeted with three exuberant Hooligans running to meet me. I opened the door, and they all jumped in on top of me—lots of messy kisses… and messy, muddy paw prints on my jeans. But… tomorrow is laundry day.
I agree that parents listen to “The Men” before the daughters… especially in my family. My BIL is the most brilliant, most wonderful, all knowledge… I know nothing, but I do vacuum well.
Mary—Know you are getting excited! ONE week!!! On the road again…
Irish—I go see Ava more for me than for her, I’m sure. I feel sorry for her all by herself while Mommy and Daddy are at work. She needs those mid-day treats, too.
Jana—what sad news! So sorry you are unable to attend, but this time of year is treacherous. Peace to you and your family.
Becca—There’s another item for my “make for dinner” list… broccoli soup! Thank you!
I’m finally getting around to making pizza here. I have a beer crust rising on top of the refrigerator. It’s not real warm in the house for dough rising. I may have to get a heating pad.

Good Evening Everyone!
Road to California was a wonderful quilt show. I also really enjoyed the class "Mod Pineapples". The block uses the Quick Curve Ruler. I completed two blocks in class with several others cut out.
Jana - Such sad news! My sincerest condolences. It is sad you cannot attend, but the weather has been severe this year.
Then you had good news about the house. Glad to hear you locked in the builder and his commitment. Hope it works and they are in their house soon.
Irish - I looked outside this morning in Ontario, CA and saw the San Bernardino mountains covered in snow. It was so beautiful!
Maryz - I am looking forward to seeing the bike quilt. Yes you only have a few more days in Texas. Will the rains and snow slow or stop your journey North?
Tina - good to hear life is progressing in the moving department.
Chickie - Using a heating pad to help bread rise is a new one! I usually lower the oven temperature as low as I can then turn the oven on for about 5 minutes. It seems to work very well!
Becca - So glad to hear you are well. Broccoli Soup does sound good.
Tonight dinner was out to a restaurant. It was good. I am really tired.
Have a great day everyone!
Carol
