SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Jan 19th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Jan 19, 2017 12:48 am

Good Morning!

We are seeing the deer coming back into the park, though they seem a little spooked. Not surprising. There is a sweet little buck we run into when we walk the campground and he went through the woods behind our trailer yesterday. And a doe with twin fawns.

I made great progress yesterday on my bike quilt. The most tedious part, the front basket filled with flowers - all pieced, not applique - is almost done. I'll soon set it aside and start working on the frame, seat, tires, and pedals.

We have a new problem. All the outlets in our slide, plus one other, quit working. This means phone charger, computers, SEWING MACHINE, and a few other things we have plugged in are all down. So Bill is going to be busy today trying to fix that problem. And with no vehicle to go get anything he needs - fuses, wires, crimpy thingies, etc - it's going to be difficult. Our friends next door will be disappointed. They are taking it very seriously that, without a vehicle, they are 'babysitting' us and had planned a day trip to another town. We didn't really want to go, but didn't want to hurt their feelings, so we were going. (people who don't have pets forget that you can't go away and leave them locked up for ten hours without consequences!) But now, unless this gets fixed very early, we won't be going anyway. We have other outlets, but they aren't exactly handy to the table where the sewing machine sets.

TINA - so happy for Kevin! Life is really looking rosy for him now! And so nice of him to be available to his grandparents, too. If they don't take advantage of his generous offer of help now while it's available then I'd let them take care of it all on their own! (I can be ornery, too!) If they cooperate, do you think the move might actually happen this weekend? Michael worked for the state of WA and he would have been able to transfer to any job across the state PLUS Seattle, Tacoma, or Spokane and still retain his seniority and retirement bennies. Bill retired from City of Tacoma with a very nice retirement, though the pay while he was working was somewhat less than private industry. But so worth it!

CAROLE with an e - I just did a simple meander over the entire quilt. There is so much going on in the quilt that I felt a fancier pattern than that would get lost, or detract from all the cool blocks. And I really like the finished look of it.

BECCA - yes, it was great having our supper provided for us last night. Though our friend ended up getting sick so her hubby brought it all over to our campground and we had a small dinner party for 5 in our friends' motorhome and then played a round of Golf card game. Nice evening. Not only had supper provided, but delivered!

IRISH - do you have to go to City Hall or a federal building to get your passport? Sometimes, it's a major headache, but much faster if you go in person. We renewed ours 3 years ago and were able to do it by mail and had to send in our old passports and new photos. The new passports came back in two weeks. But if you already had one and let it lapse, then you have to start all over again. But it will be so worth it!! Sorry about Jim having to go through that cream treatment. Is he sore after a period of time using it? Give him a hug for me!

CHICKIE - Glad you checked out OK. Hope the rest of the tests go as smoothly. I will start my round of medical stuff in April or May. Ugh. We have gremlins at our house. they come in and mess up the place without us ever seeing them. They scatter shoes, magazines, thread, and coffee cups all over the place! And they track in fir needles, little sticks, dried leaves, dirt, hair, and webs, too. If I ever catch one of them, there is going to be some trouble!!

JANA - congrats to Stu on passing his drivers' test! And now he has his future planned. Good for him!

CAROL without an e - you must be at the gym! ;o)

We ended up with the leftover leftover beans last night. So I think supper will be them over boiled potatoes. There are three corn muffins left, too, but between you and me, they were dry and tastelss. Don't tell my friend I said that!! So we'll probably skip those.

How's the supper planning coming along at your house?

Good morning :)
Mary sounds like you have a day ahead of you. ... wonder if it's just a fuse or? ? The only thing that might get moved it the semi trailer but I'm sure that won't be this weekend because of the rain we're supposed to get tomorrow and Saturday and then it'll have to dry out for a couple days depending on how much we get. So far nobody knows where the semi trailer is going because Mom and Dad have to be here for them to decide. I know where'd I'd put it for the best wind block for their SW trailer but they don't take my opinion seriously. As far as I know they've never contacted a mobile home mover about moving their SW trailer. There's junk cars to move too and their motor home and a golf cart and an outside dog and her fence for her yard and her huge dog house and porch cats and a mommy kitty and her baby that showed up a few months ago. They wanted me to just bring all the cats to my house and put them on the front porch with mine but mine aren't friendly about sharing their domain. Not sure how we're going to move the cats. The dog can be "kenneled" on the side of my backyard for a little while if we need to.
Irish, that cream kinda sounds like it would be painful, I hope not.
Jana, yay for Stu getting his license!
Carole, your week sounds so busy! Take time to sew :)
Becca, I hope you are doing good :)
Chickie, I freeze every time you say you're going to let Ava out in those freezing temps brrrrrrrrrrr.
Carol, do you go to the gym every day? I used to go 3 days a week for almost a year. ..I gained weight so I stopped going LOL even my Dr said it wasn't for me.
Well I have hamburger thawing, not sure yet what it will be.

Good foggy morning! We are going to be nice here today… if it’s not too muddy, the hooligans and I may walk down to see Ava today. I guess “nice” is 50 degrees, cloudy with chance of rain… I plan to stay inside and sew if I can today. I’m tired of running… Tuesday to Joplin and yesterday to town.

Sometimes I can be really clever… DH wanted me to purchase a DVD player yesterday, as we’ve not had one because we didn’t have any DVDs any more. I purchased one. Of course, he wanted it hooked up “right now”. To be honest, I was tired, hungry, needed to put away groceries, had an e-mail that HAD to be taken care of with some electronic forms to complete… I was NOT interested in wrapping my brain around trying to hook that up with the DISH box and TV and get the remote programmed for all of them. And, we needed another cable which we didn’t have. So… I suggested he text DGS (Ava’s dad) and see if they would have an extra cable (he has all types of electronics), so I figured he had a “miscellaneous cable stash”. He could probably do the hook up by the time I was trying to find the places in the manuals… So… the family came down… Ava got to see the Hooligans… DGS hooked it all up and programmed it in very little time, and I was soooooo happy. Last night was chicken fried chicken/steak night at the corner, so I said we all should go up there for dinner for “payment”. We had a fun time. Celebrated DGS’s birthday coming up on Saturday, DGDIL’s new job starting next week that’s more in her graphic arts field, our entry back into the 21’s century with the DVD player… plus DS3 came in and sat with us and visited. And, best of all… no cooking for me, plus I have leftovers for dinner tonight for one of us.

Mary—hope you get your electrical stuff worked out. Have you checked the GFCI for that side??? Love the bike quilt! I might add some appliqué flowers to it for some more texture… just sayin’…

So… dinner tonight… re-runs plus salads. I’ll need to make something for dessert… Tina—what was that blueberry creation you made?

Bon appétit!

Good afternoon from another dreary but not real cold, SW. Pa...Only going into the high 40s today but that's higher than it's supposed to be, this time of year.....I do believe, Mr. Sun has gone to Florida, which, can't blame him......

Mary, you really do have a day planned...Sure hope it's an easy fix and Bill doesn't get too frustrated...It is hard for some non pet owners to understand why you just can't pick up and go, did they not have kids????..Kathy and I were joking about this upcoming trip, if Dan and I both go, who watches the cats???I know our neighbor will take care of mine, but I normally take care of his when he's away....Cari has 3 but her DMIL is always ready to take over that duty...This passport business is a pain in the patootie...Since I've never had one, I need the original birth certificate, the one with the raised symbol and although I can apply for it on line, I need to fax, scan or get them a copy of my driver's license with a picture...So, today, I'm going to the UPS store to have that faxed since my scanner has decided not to work.....You know, I'm too old to be doing this, just give me a passport and send me on my way!

Chickie, well, aren't you just the cleverest person....Good thinking on your part....When it comes to reading directions, that's when I'd be calling someone, also...Any new gadgets or things like that, I call one of our neighbors or DGS, Dan......I love the idea of everyone getting together for dinner "at the corner".....

Tina, Oh my, after reading your post, I now have visions of cats, dogs, golf carts and all kinds of other things coming down the road, headed towards your house...I think, if I were you, I'd leave the area for about a month or so...You can hide at my house if you want....The cream that Jim needs to use does get painful after awhile...Doc always says, it will get worse before it's better..But, Jim knows the routine, he's been doing this for as long as I can remember...When we go for checkups, they just look at his file and shake their heads.....Very few places on his body that hasn't been "sliced and diced" but we won't go into that......

Today, is giving the new washer a workout and then we're running those errands...There's always cat food to be bought, although Jake, I think has found another girl friend and missed dinner, bedtime snack and breakfast this morning...Need to stop at the Library and also need to pick up 2 skeins of floss for a cross stitch project I started....AND then, hopefully, I'll be able to finish Tina's blocks and get them in the mail....Lots to do, which means, get off my butt and do it, right!

For our dinner, if the car doesn't make a stop, we will have meat loaf and baked potatoes...I've had a potato craving for a few days and it's time.....Not sure what kind of veggie and I'm not baking any afters.....

Happy eating.................

Eagle Update: Little E9, from the Ft. Myers nest is growing like that bad weed, probably about 10 pounds now...Doesn't take them long to be almost as big as an adult....He/she can now stand up a little and peek over the side rails...He/she still hasn't been able to manage those clown feet and usually hobbles around on using his wings for support...
At the Pgh. nest, the parents are getting the nest ready...Won't be long before we have some action, hopefully, this year, we'll have a bunch of healthy eaglets......

Irish--I forgot to tell you earlier... my UPS guy was rockin' his shorts today. He laughed when I told him I was going to tell my friend in PA. He's such a nice young man. He's our "regular" driver... knows the Hooligans will be out to welcome him and slows down for them.

We walked down to see Ava. I almost turned around to get the car or truck but we plodded on. Parts of the dirt road were like trying to walk up a greased slippery slide in July sun.
