SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Jan 18th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jan 18, 2017 2:29 am

Good Morning!

It has been pouring rain. Lots of it yesterday, a downpour last night, and more this morning. Along with plenty of L&T. Guess it will be another indoor day! Forced to sew. Gosh darn it!! ;o))

TINA - you are just loaded with news!! Congrats on Kevin's job!! A job with the state is full of bennies and he can move around the state and keep his seniority and retirement! So happy for him! I feel for the fella who blew the semi-engine. My Alaskan brother has two semi's, "Snort" and "Pinky". and they both blew engines in last few weeks. He has Snort back on the road again but Pinky is still on the Disabled list. Hope the new truck and Mom get it together soon to get this move going! BTW, I have four crockpots, too. But only one is with me. I sure do love them!!

CAROLE with and E - welcome home!!! You were missed! Glad things are going well for all your family and for your RA! Scottie sends a friendly 'woof' to Luke.

CAROL without an E - glad you enjoyed the movie. Sounds like your DH REALLY enjoyed it! Your class sounds intriguing and fun. Enjoy!

IRISH - glad you got to your appointment on time! How did the S & D appt go the other day? Was it just a check-up? Were you able to have a little alone time with your sewing machine yesterday?

JANA - so happy to hear El's Radiant star has no Y-seams! They are one of my bugaboos in life. I have a photo of the pattern now and the fabric requirement list. I want to make it from Texas-themed fabrics and there is a beautiful line of them here so I'll be buying the fabric next week to take home with me. I really can't wait to get started on it!

BECCA - Glad you had an opportunity for a nice hike yesterday. I love hiking mountain trails. We have paved walking/biking trails at home but it's not the same.

CHICKIE - have you warmed up yet? Seems every time I see the forecast across the nation it has the midwest bracing for something . . .

So my supper plan yesterday was for pinto beans in the crockpot but got delayed because friends, David & Linda, borrowed the crockpot to make, of all things, pinto beans! They had a lot extra so now we're invited to their trailer - 7 miles away - for supper tonite to finish up the beans. Our neighbors, Don & Other Linda, are invited, too, and they will give us a ride over. I hear there will also be coleslaw, cornbread, and I don't know what else. I am going to take a few fresh veggie appetizers to share.

So we are getting our beans after all but I didn't have to cook them! I hope you get a scrumptious meal, too, without cooking!

Good morning :)
Mary, yes we're all supper excited for Kevin :)
Thank you all :)
Kevin is going over to Mom and Dad's to get that semi trailer ready to move and help get things boxed up, I told them the good news last night and also told them that Kevin starts his job on the 30th so they better get what use they can out of him before then!
Tonight is the leftover shredded BBQ beef and coleslaw. We had thick fog this morning, it looked cool :)

Good morning,

I am a little late this morning because the window washer is here and I finally convinced Luke to quit following him around. We had the outside of our house painted last week and when they power washed the house they sure made a mess of the Windows. But now they will be bright and shining. Of course, it is suppose to rain the weekend. But like Ken says....it will rain somewhere in AZ.

Tonight we are having meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and a veggie of some sort. We are going to our friends to play Pegs and Jokers after dinner. It is such a busy week this week. Looking forward to a quieter week next week. Lol

MaryZ , just have the left side of the triangles to do to finish her up. How did you end up quilting her an overall pattern or each block. I am thinking of doing each block, mbut that could take me another year to get done. Lol

Tina, bet you will be so glad to get your folks moved and settled. So happy for Kevin and his new job. He needed to get a break, poor kid,

Well I am off to work on Jane. Have a great day.

Good afternoon from overcast, dreary, SW. Pa...It's not real chilly so, a little dreary doesn't hurt.....

Mary, always good to have friends who invite you to eat with them and then to have "limo" service to boot..Life it good! Yep, I did make it to my appointment and was back home within a half an hour...Doc has all new personal and one of the nurses has to be the sweetest gal ever...She's a whiz at giving shots and is done before you know she's shot you, lol..."Said, she had her training with shooting kids", but she is a super....Jim's appointment was pretty good although, he did have a spot on his back the doc is concerned about so he did come home with a bandage..Hopefully, we won't have to have Regis really so anything major...He also gave him a Fluorouracil cream for his hands and forearms...This is nasty stuff, (need to use gloves to put it on) Jim has used it in the past and after using it for a week or so, area looks like you've been severely burned...After about a month, the skin will hopefully become smooth...It's a long process and not too much fun but you do what you gotta do! He's really been through a lot with his Irish skin, so much I wouldn't wish it on anyone...But, he never complains....
AND I was able to get to play with the sewing machine...I figure if I can take care of a couple of blocks each time, I'm satisfied (just hope Tina will be, lol)

And speaking of Tina, WOW, lots and lots of good news...But, most of all, great that Kevin got the job...As Mary said, working with the state is fantastic...My oldest, retired at 60, from the township and is was great...And lets get that truck and trailer on the road, Kevin has to go to work!

Carole (with an e), sounds like things are happening at your house...Does Luke want to help the window washers or is he guarding the house....Good fur baby!...It never fails here, if I do windows, even if sun is predicted for a month, we'll get rain....

Well, today is a "clean up" kind of day...I will never, ever figure out how or why our place gets messed up....AND, I'm working on getting a passport, never had one and I'm almost 80...BUT, I need to get a new copy of my birth certificate, the one with the raised thingie and getting through to them is terrible...Just when I thought I had it won, my scanner doesn't work and I'll have to go to the UPS store and have them send my stuff...Kathy has everything booked and everyone else has all their stuff but not me..I have visions of me chasing the plane down the runway yelling, wait for me!...This isn't until August but we all know how quickly the government works......Oh well, it will happen.....

I'm thinking tonight's dinner might be spaghetti and meat balls....Kathy sent me some of her home made sauce and I really want to try it.....Maybe a salad and garlic bread, if I feel ambitious....

Happy eating.........................

Good afternoon! It’s gloomy here but no precipitation. That seems to be over for awhile, but the sun seems to be gone for several days as well. I’m so S-A-D… I really NEED the sun!!!

Tina—that’s such great news for Kevin! I never made much money working for the state, but now they pay me to stay home and I love it!!! He might get discouraged later about private industry paying better, but their retirement isn’t as good. Best wishes to him!!!

Jana—so interesting that the radiant star has no Y-seams! Mary—that’s going to be too cool in Texas-theme fabrics!!!

We were in the 40s today, 50s tomorrow and low 60s for a couple of days. You just never know what the weather will be here from day to day.

Irish—I had a great vampire visit today—she was painless and left no bruise! That’s so unusual. She found the vein immediately without a lot of poking and prodding. Oh, that sounds like such a terrible treatment to go through with that lotion! Poor guy!!! Hope it does the trick and doesn’t cause pain. My house is a mess, and I don’t understand why or how!

Becca—what glorious weather!!!

Carole—welcome home! So funny about Luke following the window washer! Have you warned the liquor store to stock up on wine? Sounds like you may be hitting the bottle over “Crazy Jane”.

Dinner last night was Chinese buffet on our way home from a trip to Joplin for a business appointment. The Hooligans rode along and were content the whole trip. Of course, they were rewarded with some treats at each stop. Today I had a doc appt to get my scripts renewed for another year, schedule a mammogram and bone density exam, and have a blood draw. As soon as I got out of the clinic, I went to Mom’s and had a strong cup of coffee and a couple of cookies. We visited a couple of hours, then it was on to the store… Aaaarugh! It’s so not my favorite thing to do! Came home and picked up the Hooligans to go see Ava, then back home to unload the truck and put away my purchases. I made a quick salad as I was having trouble thinking straight… sure made me feel better! Now… dinner tonight… I’m sure DH is hungry, but I’m not. It may be grilled ham and cheese. I got some cibatta rolls that I think DH will enjoy.

Bon Appétit!
