SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Jan 17th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jan 17, 2017 1:37 am

Good Morning!

Today is my DS and DDIL's 14th wedding anniversary. And guess which mom forgot to send a card!! Darn me! (oh well. They still like me better than The Other Mom. :o)) ) I guess it will be a gushy text this year. We have no vehicle until Friday night, so going out to buy, let alone mail a card isn't in the cards. (haha - little pun for your amusement)

Today I plan to start cutting out my bicycle quilt. It's 60x80" and the top half of the quilt is simply background. The bottom half is a pieced bike (with basket of flowers on front) that is nearly life-sized. Should be an interesting undertaking and keep me off the streets for a while.

BECCA - So happy to hear your DH is having some good days. Family (most of it, anyway) is always good therapy! Your recipe sounds delicious. I am going to try to remember to write it down.

JANA - thanks for the quilt advice. I have the Radiant Star book and my neighbor just sent me photos of the cover and fabric requirements. I'm going to put you on speed dial when I get this project started!

IRISH - glad you and Jim had such a 'profitable' trip to Joann's! He may have forgotten a lot of things but he hasn't forgotten that you are a quilter! New England is a tough team to beat. Good luck with that! In the Dallas/Green Bay game, on TV just before your Steelers last Sunday, the guy who made the winning field goal for Green Bay was from right here in Georgetown, TX and probably grew up an avid Cowboy fan! Interesting trivia.

CHICKIE - Glad the ice didn't cause you much headache. The cedars here give off that explosion of pollen and even fooled one of the locals. She said she saw one do that and thought there was a fire and almost called 911. Enjoy your "sea-fare" because the ban will be reinstated soon! As soon as I get home!

Well, my plan was to make a crockpot of pinto beans today. But our friends who are hosting at the campground 7 miles away, needed to borrow our crockpot for a big event they are going to tonite. She also borrowed our next door friends' slow cooker. So we're going to grill burgers tonite, I think. At least that was Bill's request. He can be fickle so it could always change. Especially if the rain clouds open up. Then we'll go to Plan B. Which, at this point, doesn't exist yet.

Hope y'all have a Plan A, B, or C ready!

Good morning

I am back from FL and S.C. It was a vacation from cooking, but that it okay. I am very grateful for the time I had with my brother. He is doing really well after his back surgery.

Now to get back into the groove of things. Lol. Dinner, dinner, what is for dinner tonight??? Think I will make chicken piccata, baked potato, veggie. DH has billiards tonight so it will be an early dinner.

Hope everyone is doing well and I will catch up with each of you soon.

Hugs,

Carole with an e

Good morning :)
We had a very wet weekend but I really enjoyed it.
Mary, I have 4 crock pots and then I have one that is 3...I use it at holidays. I want to make 3 different soups one day in it :)
Carole, so glad you're back :)
Becca, I saved your recipe, it sounds yummy! Glad your DH is doing better.
Irish, I was smiling with your JoAnn's story :) so nice he's helping you shop :)
Chickie, I watched the weather about that ice storm, very glad you didn't get it that bad.
I've been using my crock pots LOL I have pot roast in one and shredded BBQ beef in the other and were alternating leftovers for a couple days :) I've been baking because I had cream cheese to use up so we've been having some yummy stuff :) I made a blueberry cream cheese breakfast thing, a pineapple cheesecake thing and tonight I'm making some cream cheese poppy seed rolls. .... Frankie loved the blueberry thing but he's not sure about the pineapple one LOL I've made the poppy rolls before and he loves those so he'll be happy :)

Good Morning Everyone!
I started to write last night, but decided it would be better to write this morning. Yesterday, I drove to my brother's, then we drove to San Juan Capistrano and my sister met us there and we all got to meet with our first cousin whom we hadn't seen in many years. He works a bit on genealogy and so do I, that is how we re-connected.

Tonight is Quilt Guild meeting. Our quilt show is in just a few weeks. Dinner for my DH will probably be the leftover Stuffed Pepper Casserole. I am not sure what I will be having.

The movie, "Hidden Figures", was outstanding. My DH does the computations for the orbits of the GPS Satellites these days and found the computations the movie was showing very primitive, but accurate. He really enjoyed the movie and so did I.

Maryz - Your bicycle quilt sounds beautiful! Glad you brought so many projects to work on, but you will be leaving there before you know it!

Jana - Good advice given to Mary about Radiant Star!

Becca - How wonderful you got to go on a hike with your BF.

Chickie - Glad you escaped damage from the ice.

Carole - Your dinner sounds like what I will make tomorrow!

Friday is the class at Road to California. It is Modern Pineapples. I have cut the fabric and am making the half square triangles and hope to make the quarter square triangles as well. The Pineapples look like curved pieces done with a special ruler. Friends are taking the class so I joined them. I will drive to Ontario Friday morning and stay overnight and return mid-day Saturday. I am looking forward to it.

Have a great day everyone!
Carol

Good afternoon from a very warm, sometimes sunny, SW. Pa...If I had been on the ball, I would have done sheets and hung them out but, wasn't moving too quickly this morning, or I should say, thinking too quickly.....

Mary, you aren't alone with the "forgetting the cards"...I think my kids know by now, it might come, it might be late or maybe not at all...Usually, I'll find the card that's just right but some how, it gets lost in the shuffle and then I might find it months later...The bicycle quilt really sounds like a winner...We will need to see a picture when it's done, don't forget.....I liked your little trivia, very interesting....Like I said, yesterday, I'm not the fan I used to be but then I'm not as skinny as I used to be either, lol...It is a big thing about our Terrible Towel and right now, everyone is hoping Brady or one of their players tries to mess with it...I think I'm more into hockey.....

Becca. We're getting your spring like weather today and it's wonderful...I had to run to the doctor's to get a shot and felt like having the windows down in the car...I think it does make a big difference if someone tells DH he's looking better...Everyone needs a little compliment every once in awhile.....

Carol, (without the e)...sounds like you had a great day, visiting with relatives....If you're like me, I keep saying, yep, gonna get together and then keep putting it off until it's too late...But, you did it....

Carole (with the e), welcome back! Glad to hear your DB is doing well...Maybe it's from all that "nursing"..Right now, Jim isn't even thinking about wondering, maybe due to the cold...But, I keep thinking, come spring, we might have a problem on our hands...But, 1 day at a time and pray for the best....

Tina, my heavens girl, you sure are cooking and baking up a storm...You have 2 crock pots going and I'm lucky if I can think of something for 1..Amd all those goodies, almost like Christmas...So, what's happening on the move front? Hope all is well with those 2...Hope that extra fabric Jim "MADE" me buy will end up being blocks headed your way....Now, just to get with it!

Not much happening in this household today, even if the sun is shinning....I was up most of the night and sure didn't feel like moving this morning...Then, I almost missed my shot appointment, it was at 1:30 instead of 2:30 like I thought...There are days when I think, maybe the wrong person is taking the meds in this family, lol.....Now, that I'm back home, I'm hoping to get together with that new fabric and the machine.....

I had forgotten about the ban being lifted on certain foods so, I'm thinking maybe I'll find some "mac n cheese" filets in the freezer and maybe throw in some baked potatoes.....Yesterday, my sister gave us a loaf of banana/nut bread, just out of the oven, so that will be our afters, if there is any left till then..Jim has a tendency to grab a slice every time he walks by....

Happy eating..................

I forgot to tell you all, the moving is paused, Maria's brother blew his engine in his semi and bought a newer one but he has to get it inspected and stuff first and with all the rain we've been having I guess it all worked out because the ground is too soft to pull the semi and trailer through the property. Nothing is being done inside yet.

Good afternoon!

Finished the nightgown for Emma and now the machine is doing it thing, embroidering her name on a bath towel. I decided to be practical as the kids have way too many toys and never get them all away - causing them to get in trouble for a messy room - so I will be practical and no more toys!

Off for a run to Jo Ann's - need stabilizer, pattern which are on sale, and more white thread - never can have enough!

Mary - yes keep me on speed dial. I almost didn't pass the teacher training because even though the points were perfect on the diamond, I kept matching the opposite side of the diamond than I should have - because I am left handed and was trying to follow the right handed instructions - I passed - finally! One trick I learned on the very first quilt was to make a fabric template of the exact size of the large diamond. Then I pinned that to my ironing board and fit the sewn diamond to it, pinning it in to place, then starching the hockey sticks out of the fabric, ironing into shape, letting it dry on the template. That gave me the right size to make all the corners and the triangles fit, when I did the Y seams. Now El's method does not use Y seams.

Tina - I have now graduated to 2 crockpots. Not to say that at one time I had 8 of them - all wedding presents! I return all but one.

DH is chomping at the bit to go -

Dinner is tortilla soup tonight - easy!
Tomorrow I will share a very easy recipe that we ate last night. One of Kate's family's

Enjoy
Jana
