SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Jan 15th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Jan 15, 2017 12:56 am

Good Sunday Morning!

I'm afraid to ask about all y'all's weather, it's been so crazy everywhere lately. We are foggy, 50', and misting. They keep predicting T-storms, but so far that hasn't happened.

Yesterday we made our move back to the first campground. It's good to be 'home'! I had time to finish putting together my second set of cat swap blocks and get out some fall leaf/log cabin blocks from last November's lotto. Got them all trimmed and the first row sewn together. I want to put a flying geese border on this quilt so I picked up a few fabrics for that as we were out doing some errands.

And then we settled in to watch the Seahawks game. And the first quarter was pretty good! After that it was less good. And second half we needed crying towels. Oh well. Already looking forward to next year.

IRISH - So far we haven't seen the nasty dog people return. We drove through their part of the campground yesterday just to see before trying to walk with Scottie. I hope your Steelers have a better outcome than our Hawks did. Cari's DH must be very happy. Glad someone is, 'cuz no one we know is smiling. :o(( We saw a commercial with a dad who had a Steelers Terrible Towel. He had to change his baby's stinky diapers and all he had to use was his T.T. or? Next shot shows him driving shirtless and listening to the game, his TT sitting clean and intact on the seat next to him! lol!!

CHICKIE - I don't remember what cedars you have. At home our property is filled with western red cedar. They grow 150' tall and it takes two people to get arms around the trunks of many of our trees. It is the cedar that is used to line closets and cedar chests, etc. Western Red Cedar is the WA State Tree and they like moist climates. The 'cedars' here (really junipers) only get about 30' tall and even the 100 year old trees have trunks about as big around as a person's thigh. We were told they aren't native to this area but someone brought them in and they have invaded everywhere. They have a lot of pollen and kind of 'explode' when they release it. Part of the reason we like this campground better than the other one is there are more live oaks here and the other cg is all cedars.

BECCA - that caramel cake sounds pretty tasty! and just what I don't need! Are you all done 'family-ing' now for a while, or is there another wave coming? I saw you had one baby quilt almost finished and one to go. What pattern are you using? Are you going with classic pinks and blues or are you shaking it up with other colors?

JANA, TINA, CAROL, and VELDA - hope you girls are having a good weekend!

I don't have a supper plan for tonite. Since we are eating lunch in a restaurant, that should fill us up and if we get hungry this evening, we have chicken flautas in the fridge we can heat up and have with guacamole. Or if I know us, there will be lunch leftovers. But tomorrow I want to make Some pinto beans with turkey sausage in the crockpot. You guys talking about this this past week has made me crave them!

And what are you all craving for tonite?

Good afternoon from a semi dreary, very chilly, SW. Pa...We don't have the ice thank goodness, just staying above freezing...Have been watching the weather channel and when I see the weather the middle of the country is having, I'm most grateful.....

Mary, Glad you are moved back home and didn't see "those" people...Makes for a more peaceful vacation...I feel bad for your SeaHawks...I was really torn between rooting for either of the birds.....At one point, I did text Cari and told her to tell that DH of her's to hold it down....I could hear/feel his excitement over in this part of the state...She said, even the fur kids were kind of staying out of his way....would be interesting if by chance, the Falcons end up playing the Steelers in the Super Bowl....I haven't seen that commercial but I'd honestly believe something like would happen, lol..No one ever, messes with the Terrible Towel!

Becca, 1st off, I'd love to have your carmel cake...Years ago, Jim would always ask for banana cake with carmel icing and his Mom had a favorite recipe, which seems to have gotten lost...Brings back lots of good memories....Glad to hear you're having nice weather and able to get out and enjoy...And so glad to hear DH had a good day with all the visiting...Jim has been watching the icy weather out west and thinks it might be our's so he'll say, we better not go anywhere today...Or if he starts wanting to "go home", I'll just say, the roads might be icy...Hate doing that but whatever it takes to keep peace....Your baby quilts are going to be so darn pretty...Prayers for Momma to go full term.....

I also kind of forgot we have to eat...AND sure don't know what we might be eating....The "chicken noodle soup" drive thru was cancelled yesterday and today might be "icy"...Jim has an appointment with the slicer and dicer tomorrow so it could be a soup pick up on the way home.....
Tonight just might be breakfast...We haven't had poached eggs in awhile so, might be a good dinner.....
The Steelers are playing late tonight and I have a feeling, they'll have to get along with out me... I sound like a turncoat but I don't root for them like I used to...I do like all the excitement, the fans but I don't care for most of the team....I'd like to go back to the "old Steelers" when I considered most of them gentlemen and players, not just jerks wanting all that money.....OH well, off my box!

Happy eating..........
You all please be safe......

Good Afternoon Everyone!
I get busy in the morning and forget to come here, then when everyone is done I remember. Oh well!

Today for dinner we are having fast hash and green beans. We are supposed to go to the movie " Hidden Figures". My DH has a PhD in Math and a love for Space so naturally we must go see this movie. I saw on the news where they brought elementary girls to the University to see the film and the stars showed up. The girls were much more excited about math and science afterward.

Maryz - Let's hope the dog people go to a different campground, at least until the end of February or was it January you are going to start your journey home.

Irish - You are allowed to tell Jim there is icy roads if it keeps him safely inside.

Becca - So glad your DH enjoyed the visits. I made a Caramel Cake last summer and it was very good. The recipe is in a 1950 edition of Betty Crocker Cookbook. I have heard they are going to publish the cookbook again. I found my copy at an estate sale.

Have a great day everyone!
Carol
