SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Jan 14th
Good Morning!
My sewing day yesterday got a bit turned around. We had quite a bit of rain in the morning and the outside outlet got too wet so the ground fault currant interrupter interrupted the currant so I was without power for 4 hours and couldn't sew! Arrgghhh! I ended up getting out a cross-stitch project instead.
We should have rain off and on for several more days, but I hear Sunday, tomorrow, will be the heaviest. That's the day we'll be on the road for 4 hours (round trip) to go meet Cindy G for lunch in Brenham, halfway between Houston and Georgetown.
Today is moving day - back to our original campground which we like much better. It's bigger, more open, and has live oak trees instead of these toxic junipers (which for some reason Texans call cedars). Everyone here suffers from allergies referred to as "cedar fever" this time of year. So far, we're immune, but much longer here and we'll be suffering like all the locals.
VELDA - did you have a nice evening dancing last night? We'd go dancing, too if we found a place and a band that was good. I was trying to do a ten-step yesterday and I forgot the steps!!
BECCA - today is family day! Yay for you!
CHICKIE - I hope you survive the weather that is headed your way. Or maybe it's already there. I hope, like you said, it's much ado about hardly anything. I remember one year, while down here, I made 8 sets of potholders, two to a set. Thought I would go crazy before I finished them all!
TINA - so the move will be actually happening?? This is exciting! Is the inside of the house almost ready? Can it be moved with furniture in it or will you have to haul it separately? Hope your parents are both feeling better now.
Tonite will be leftover chicken noodle soup for our supper. It's the 'casserole' I made a few nights ago but it turned out to be a little juicier than anticipated so it became soup instead. Still as tasty!
The Seahawks are playing another playoff game today. a tough team - the Atlanta Falcons. It could be a dicey game for us. Go Hawks!!

Good morning! We are icy here… again/still/more to come… so I am staying home and not venturing to town. It’s not worth an accident to my truck or to my person. We didn’t get all that was forecast (so far); a lot went around us. Any ice is treacherous—a glaze or a rink—for walking or driving. Less just melts faster when it warms up on Monday.
Mary—be careful of the water! Isn’t Brenham where Sue gets her pecan coffee? Hope you get to have lunch with Cindy and weather doesn’t cancel. Are those “juniper” trees the cedar we have? The allergy alert for tree pollen is high here. Our trees are either Eastern or Western red cedar, and they do give me fits, but I never tire of the smell. They are what DH cut and used for panelling the wall and wainscoted the hall. Whichever species they are, they are extremely invasive and will take over pastures and woods and crowd everything out including the flowers under the trees. Where DH cleared them, a wildflower meadow and quail habitat has bloomed just from the seeds that were awakened after the sun was let in and they received water. These cedars soak more water from the landscape than any other trees. It’s hard to keep them under control. I’m still working on the pot holders. I see the end in sight—just not yet. Enjoy your move to the better clime!
Tina—best wishes to everyone with the BIG MOVE! I’m sure there will be stress all the way around.
Becca—glad you enjoyed the little ones yesterday. Sounds like they had a blast. … And another houseful today bringing food! Life is good. How do you make a caramel cake? Is it anything like Grandma’s Burnt Sugar cake?
Irish and Becca—the birds sure are busy here. I must have fed 40 pounds yesterday! They provide quite a colorful show all day. I swear, when they run out of seeds, they line up on the railing and beg for me to come out and give them more. Between dogs, birds and DH, I’m a food providing machine!
Dinner tonight… hummmmm… I think it’s going to be more sea fare. That’s just the way it is right now. Salad, veggie and something else will accompany it. Bon appétit!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Jan 14th
Good afternoon from a very dreary, sunless, chilly, soggy, SW. Pa...We've had rain off and on and probably more to come....But, our roads are OK, no ice or nasty white stuff.....
Mary, glad to hear you're going back to the 1st spot....Should be fine as long as those nasty dog people aren't there....I sure hope you're able to get to see Cindy today and give her hugs from all of us....I don't post too much on the other site but I do try to read up and miss seeing her there....
I know, you'll be in front of your TV tonight...Cari's DH is an avid Falcon fan so this is going to be interesting...Steelers are tomorrow night...Was to be in the afternoon but Kansas is having that bad ice so they moved it to tomorrow night...In this house, we'll be lucky if we're up for pre game, lol.....
Chickie, isn't it a good feeling, knowing you don't have to leave the house....I love to wake up in the morning and have that feeling of "retirement", lol....And I love when you are making an appointment and they say, "what's your schedule like?" SCHEDULE, what's that? But, you are right, ice is not fun, not matter what kind....
Tina, Really glad to hear the move is happening...They will be moving a single wide, right? When our Terry was 1st married, they bought a SW that a neighbor had used for his DMIL before she passed...Well, they were moving this thing about 25 miles from here and with all the maneuvering, hills and bends, the only thing damaged was a storm window...It was unbelievable how they did it...Terry used that mobile home for about 8 years before he bought his 1st home....My dream has always been to have a small double wide, preferably in Florida but I'd be satisfied to have it sitting in my back yard....Hope everything goes smooth for you and your parents.....
Becca, I can hear the excitement coming from the south....What a great day, you will be having...Enjoy every minute!
Today is really "ugly" day....I can't believe how everything can get so messed up with just the 2 of us, but then I remember those fur kids....The new washer is humming along but sure wish I could have gotten one that dries, folds and puts away...Dust bunnies are starting to get the upper hand and need to be taken care of and of course there's always vacuuming....
So, that means no time for cooking, right???? But, I do have a back up plan....I forgot to pick up my RX yesterday, so I'm thinking, drive thru RX and then right across the highway we have a place called, Eat n Park, makes the best chicken noodle soup AND also has a drive thru...Good planning, right.....If not that, I do still have a couple of pieces of Nicky's pizza in the freezer and the drive thur idea will be tomorrow......
Happy eating............
Please stay safe................

We're back home
the wheels and tires are on the semi trailer and next weekend it will be moved to their property here if the weather is good. Dad told me today that they will be moved by April. .... I'll believe it when I see it. Yes Irish they have a SW, It's 16x70, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Mary, no nothing inside the trailer is ready. I did clean their kitchen today that hasn't been cleaned in I'd be ashamed to even tell you if I knew, let's just say it was bad but now it's all sparkly clean and everything put away and thrown away and washed and put up. I'm kinda tired. I just pulled out a Schwans lasagna from the freezer and popped it in the oven and we have salad so that'll be supper tonight.
I hope to visit more with you all tomorrow
