SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Jan 13th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jan 13, 2017 12:37 am

Good Morning!

Happy Friday The Thirteenth! Scottie got us on a Friday the 13th (in Sept). I thought we should name him Lucky. But Scottie won out.

A few days ago we were setting records for low temps here and now we're setting them for highs! And then this morning we're having rain with much more in the forecast for another 4 or 5 days. Texas has funny weather!

CHICKIE - Your idea of a life skills class for Jana to teach is a great one! Bill's DEX used to drive to Puyallup (25 miles one way) and pay $18/hr to have buttons sewn on. I think that's why he admires my sewing skills more than anything else I do. (though, to be honest, it's about ALL I do, anymore! lol!)

CAROL - so glad to hear good news on your drought situation! Glad you are enjoying nice weather now, though. And we are 'enjoying' your rain! Thank you. :o/

BECCA - so sorry to hear about your heat pump, your DH's bad night, and the whipped cream. It seems to never stop at your house! Hopefully your family gathering this weekend will tip the scale in the favor of good things and happy times.

JANA - I liked Chickie's idea of life skills class. Is there a counterpart class for boys? You could switch groups one day.

IRISH - glad Jake came back fat and sassy. And smiling. Probably it's a good thing he can't talk! lol! Sorry you are having to learn how to do so many new things. My oldest brother insists the secret to the fountain of youth is to always keep learning. You must be approaching your teenage years by now! I'm excited about your Irish trip. I have one piece of travel advice for you - PACK LIGHT! You will be glad you did!

Tonite's supper will be eggs and fried potatoes I think. And soon after that will be pinto beans with turkey kielbasa in them. (it was on sale, ham wasn't). CHICKIE - you said you don't soak your beans but merely cook them all day on low. That would work in a crockpot, wouldn't it?

Good day and good eats!

Good Friday Morning to all of you.

Yes, Maryz, we really are having some very warm weather. I am glad to have the cold days behind us.

I fixed tacos the other day, so we have the left overs to use up today. It was a nice treat. Hadn't had tacos in a long while.

For the weekend, I haven't decided yet on our menu. Might fix some spaghetti again. That always has left overs for us. Saturday night is our dance night, so I might have to change it up and find something that would be quicker to fix and less dishes to do.

That's what's nice about being flexible. We can change our minds in a heart beat, or yes, maybe even go out for a sandwich. LOL

Have a great Friday!
Hugs

Hello everyone,Sun is out bright now.Guess we better enjoy it while it last.

Maryz He was very stressed & I guess it's more than he can cope with.I try to keep everything from him I can.Thats just life on the funny farm.I am hoping tomorrow time with family will help him.You are really getting the sewing done.Wish my back would cooperate.

Chickie I think the life skills class is a super idea.I used to hem pants & sew on buttons for my neighbor who had one child at home.Never worked & I worked 6 days a wk & had 3 children at home. Her DH told me to stop & let her learn how.She never did.lol

Jana That's a wonderful lesson you are giving the girls. Our little 6 yr old out in WA is taking sewing classes at their church.I think it's great. They even take them to shop for the fabric..Amazes me.The DGrand loves it.

Irish Your trip is surely something to look forward to.I sure understand about the last minute thing.Praying it all works out for you.You are really doing some skills there that most would walk away from.I admire you.

Carol Happy your drought is over I hope for you.

Tina Sure hope things are improving for you.And your Dad is doing better & Mom too.Life gets hard when they age.

Vel I hope you enjoy your dance nite.Stay young as long as you can. I too love leftovers.

The Mumbo dance is going.Hope to get a cake done today. Will see how it goes on the Home front.Have a great day everyone.
Pizza here With salad. They bring the food tomorrow. We will have 6 little ones & the mama that's carrying the twins. They have a little girl 21/2 yrs old.The twins are due in May, Becca

Good morning! It’s ICY here! Aaaak!!! This is supposed to be only the beginning. Hopefully by Monday it will be over. And, if we are super lucky… it will turn out to be much ado about not so much.

Mary—stay dry! I saw your forecast and thought of you. Your babies are lucky to have you! Mine could all be called Lucky. LOL! I’m sure the beans would work in the crockpot. I just did the oven… like Grandma (before crockpots). I’ve never changed. I think I would sew on buttons for $18/hr!!! I never made close to that as an executive secretary!!! I certainly had the wrong job!

Vel—will you be getting in on the deluge? I always vote for going out! Enjoy your dancing evening.

Becca—I think everyone over here was happy when I married their FIL, Dad, Grandpa… I became the Mending Lady when they found out I could sew… overalls, clothes, buttons, paramedic pants, jeans, toys… you name it! After the fire when we were staying with DS and family, I did laundry, cooking and all the mending basket. They were sorry to see us move into the little house.

I’m STILL working on the (2016) Christmas potholders. I’m about to decide when I get them finished they will be given for 2017 and I’ll be a little ahead of the game. If I don’t finish them now, I may never finish them. Hopefully today will be the big finish.

Dinner tonight… maybe something from the deep (sea) freezer… Too early to think about now… Or, we might finish off the last two evenings’ leftovers… That would be prudent.

Bon appétit!

Good morning :)
I just seem to be a hit and miss anymore.
Frankie and Kevin are going to be taking wheels and tires off of a semi truck and taking them to Mom and Dad's and putting them on their semi trailer and Maria's brother will bring it over to their property here next weekend if the weather cooperates. Today we have a good weather window but the next 3 days are going to be cold and rain and possibly snow. They planned on doing it all this weekend but the weather said otherwise. Mom and Dad are doing a little better and home health care have been going more often. Dad got a stomach bug but with his immune system low from the chemo shots it really got him, he ended up having 3 antibiotic shots and 3 vitamin shots and being put on an IV one of the visits and then Mom got it and couldn't even walk so he was trying to help her when he felt do bad and there was nothing we could do from here.
I'm not sure what supper will be but lunch might be tacos since I have Frankie, Kevin and the boys and me to feed.
