SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Jan 6

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jan 06, 2017 1:08 am

Good Morning!

We have 28' this morning with wind chill that takes us down to a 'feels like' temp of 15'. brrr! Glad I wasn't the one who had to walk the Scot at 0500!

Today is moving day. We're going to the campground on the other side of the lake - about 5 mile drive - because they are having a special deer hunt just in the campground to control the deer population. Makes me sad but there are a LOT of deer here. It's nothing to see 6 of them grazing next to our trailer.

Yesterday we checked to see if the people whose dogs attacked Scottie and me have left. They did. Then I started to worry that they might be over in the other camp and what if they are next to us!?! a friend who is a volunteer here says this couple literally lives in this campground months on end and their dogs have caused lots of problems. The people have caused some major problems, too, and they should be evicted but the campground would rather collect the $12/night for now.

VELDA - Ham and then turkey! You are eating high on the hog! and the bird! haha! You caught me in my typo! I suspect I make a lot of typos, since I'm usually on here about 5:30 every morning, and before coffee kicks in.

TINA - got kids today? You keep telling me and I keep forgetting! I'm practicing for when I get old(er).

CHICKIE - I hope you warm up! In this weather, would it be easier to bring Ava to spend the day with you? When I'm making log cabins blocks, I always add the next log on the side where there is two seams. The other three sides should only have one seam. That's the only thing that keeps me on track. But until I get enough rounds on so there IS two seams, I have to really watch my pattern or example block closely. I've sewn a lot of them wrong and indeed, had to frog about 5 of them just this morning!

IRISH - You brought to mind a legend I had forgotten about. Jesus' grandmother, St. Anne (Mary's mother), is heaven's housekeeper and it's said that when it's snowing it's Anne dusting and fluffing pillows. I think this means that the uglies are going to follow us to heaven. Sigh. I really hope your kitty, Jake, comes home! Glad your washer is getting the job done and you didn't fall in. And did I forget to mention the bad-tempered armed guard I have looking after my stash?? Perhaps now is a good time to bring it up . .

JANA - you have a LOT of snow! Glad Stu is doing so well. A lot of folks I know, me included, find ibuprofen works as well, if not better, than Rx meds for post-op pain, and with fewer side effects.

BECCA - We're not forgetting about you! Hope you are back with us again soon.

This evening is a viewing for our friend's sister who died Dec 30. We didn't know her but are going to support Don. Afterwards we will go out for a light supper somewhere with our other friends, David and Linda. So no cooking here tonite. And hopefully there will be no change in that plan.

What plan are you planning for tonite?

Good morning! The birds are busy at the feeders. I’ll be filling up again shortly. They are enjoying the buffet of sunflower seeds and suet.

Mary—glad you checked on the bad dog people. Sounds like the owners are totally to blame. Too bad there are people like that to spoil the other campers’ experiences.

If Ava came here, I would get NOTHING accomplished! No, it’s easier to go down there. I hear what you are saying with the log cabin blocks, and it definitely helped me this time! You really had to say that about St. Anne… sigh!!!

Last night we had taco salads. There was no hamburger helper, so I made the salads. They were what I needed… almost summer like… Tonight… sigh… I’ll have to come up with something yet again. Maybe this will be the ham sandwiches… Tomorrow is shopping day.

Bon appétit!

Good early afternoon from a very sunny, gorgeous 85 degrees in SW. Pa....And if you believe that, I have this piece of property you might be interested in......I am right about the sun but it's probably about 14 going up to 20 today.....We did have snow but nothing like they have north of us..But, even a dusting is too much for me.....

Mary, you know, after all these years, I've learned something new...I had never heard that about St. Anne...I can imagine my Mom giving her a run for her money, with the dust rag.....That's terrible that those people are allowed to stay there..I would think the camp owners would be worried about law suits etc. And, our Jake still hasn't come home and I'm beginning to think he's gone...At 1st I thought he found a girl friend but this is the 4th day and most times, his dating doesn't last that long...I'm just hoping and praying he isn't somewhere sick or suffering and can't get home....

Becca, so good to see you and sure am hoping and praying, the meds will work....We need you right here with us...I was beginning to think I was going to have to come down there! .Also hope you and DH have a good day.....

Today, being it's so darn cold, I've put away the shorts and turned up the furnace...I ran out of dirty clothes so now I'm doing the throw rugs from the bathrooms...My only complaint, is running up and down the steps but just think of the exercise I'm getting....I keep saying, my next house is going to be 1 level...And I sure hope there aren't any steps in Heaven but then again, maybe I'd better watch my "step" or I might not go that direction, lol.....
Just going to run the vacuum (or I should say, Jim is), clean the bathroom and then hopefully, sew...

I made a pot of veggie/beef soup yesterday and we'll probably be eating it for a week...How come, those veggies seem to explode in my pot, gee there's only 2 of us! AND as I was putting away the Christmas cookie tins, noticed 1 on top of the fridge and thought it was empty...Oh no, more cookies! Remind me next year not to bake, period!

You all have a great day....

Happy eating...........

Eagle Update:
It has been decided for sure, the other egg in the Ft. Myers nest will not be hatching...It's way over due and will probably just break apart and be part of the nest...But, the little one is growing, leaps and bounds and of course, being an only child, will be so darn spoiled....

New cameras were installed at the 2 nests near me and already the adults are visiting the nest quite often....Won't be long before we see lots of action.....Quite a shock, when you watch the Florida nest and how warm it is and then see the Pgh. nest and it's covered with snow.....

Also, the northern adult eagles are larger than their southern cousins....

Good afternoon!

It looks so pretty outside, especially if you are in a nice warm house! We warmed up from our minus 2 degrees to 20 degrees - heat wave! LOL

We have been sweating bullets with the kids as mortgage broker finally gave us the numbers with all the fees and junk they have to pay. The broker originally gave them one number and forgot all the feed, so it is now about 500 dollars more than the kids planned for. Almost a deal breaker, but after Michael helped them with a budget, they can still swing the home. It will be tight for them, but they can do it. So the 4 way walk through is scheduled for next Friday. After that is done, the insulation and drywall - and the rest of the finish work. Tentative move in date is around March 3rd.

So I think I will make something special for dinner, Kate l9ves my chili, and I will add cornbread.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good Evening Everyone!
Tonight will be Macaroni and Chees with Broccoli.

The weather here today was beautiful, but rain is expected over the weekend. Seems like the Pineapple Express has set up and we are getting rainstorms. The Northern half of the state is getting even more rain than we are in the Southern half. May this continue for several more months and be repeated for several more years!

Maryz - Hopefully the bad neighbor and dog will not be your neighbor!

Irish - I had never hear that about St. Anne either. Funny story! Sorry to hear the egg did not hatch, however that is nature.

Chickie - We had ham sandwiches for lunch. I want ham salad sandwiches, but DH wasn't ready yet. Then again if we had Swiss cheese we could have ham and Swiss and we could melt the cheese. YUM!

Becca - Hope you sleep and get over the cough! I am well and feeling wonderful. Thankful every day I feel great!

Have a great evening everyone!
Carol
