SUPPER CLUB - New Year's Eve

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Dec 31, 2016 1:45 am

Good Morning!

We are supposed to go to 75' today - purrfect! We will probably have a campfire tonite after dinner.

BECCA - so happy to see you post but bummed that you are not feeling well on top of everything else going on. Is there going to be a service for your brother and if so, will you be able to attend? Sending much love your way!

IRISH - Your crew really keeps on the move! Hard to keep track of them! Nick's pizza sounds awesome! Wish you could have slipped a slice in an envelope and sent it to me! Exciting to hear about the pip!! I wish M15 would get a better name, too. He sounds like a British secret agent!

CHICKIE - I made a total of 12 red/white log cabins and went ahead and put them together in a top. Add a narrow inner border and a bigger outer border and it will be a good size for a comfort quilt. That way Tina doesn't have to try to fit them into her collection of 12-1/2" blocks. I will drop it off with her as we go through Deming on our way home. Unless we go another route. Then I will mail. I think I will sit the January lotto out after all, because re-reading the directions for the umpteenth time, it looks like some fabrics are required that I don't have after all. and my rule for lottos is to sew from my stash. Besides, if I won, I was going to donate it all to Tina anyway, so mission accomplished! Sorry Tasha had to go home, but so nice to get a taste of her sweet youth!

We're going to get a little crazy tonite and go out to a steakhouse, "Saltgrass", for supper with two, maybe three, other couples. At 4pm One of the guys wants to be home in time for the Clemson vs Ohio St football game. the rest of us will sit around the campfire and maybe later play cards. Outside if it's warm enough, inside if it's not. Which means a little housework and reorganization of our inside. Put the sewing machine away and all that goes with it, vacuum, sweep, and dust. Fortunately, in such a small space, those are not difficult or lengthy tasks.

As for football today, U of WA is also playing against Alabama in the playoffs. I don't usually pay much attention to college football, but two of my three kids went to U of WA and it REALLY matters to my son, Mike. Autumn could care less! lol! But this is big stuff to Mike. So I want to catch as much of that game as I can, too, if we can get it on our TV.

So, happy new year to you all! Be safe and sane with your celebrations! I know how crazy you all can get!

Good morning! I’m on my way to town but wanted to drop in before I leave the house. Tonight will be a party at DS1’s—annual affair! DH gets tired of the noise around 9 or 10, so we’ll be home early watching a movie. I think dinner is snackies and stuff there. I’m taking guacamole, chips and li’l smokies in BBQ sauce.

Got my red and white washed, now to muddle through the blocks. Tina may get another red and white quilt top if these don’t pass inspection. I need to press and STARCH my FQs. I really like your quilt top—Lotto’s loss, comfort’s gain! If I win, I plan to donate all to Tina as well.

Mary—your dinner sounds delicious and a nice evening with friends!

Irish—I’m still dreaming of Nick’s pizza! He needs to go to college near you!!! I’m sure you wouldn’t mind him coming to your house on weekends to do his laundry… and maybe make you a pizza…

Time to hit the road… Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year from overcast, chilly, (but not cold), SW. Pa....It's in the 40s which is kind of unusual for this time of year.....At least we won't have to worry about the roads being bad for all those out celebrating tonight.....Where we live, the celebrating is very little...About the only noise will be, maybe the fire man will ring the fire alarm and 1 of the neighbors used to fire his gun but I've heard, that same fellow isn't feeling well and there is now a law about firing guns into the air, so it might be very quiet around here....The fur babies will like that.....

Mary, it sure sounds like you'll be doing some big time celebrating...Isn't it great to actually be with people you like and enjoy doing what you're doing? This business of going out into big crowds and seeing who can drink the most just isn't for us, never was...Well, gosh darn, if I had known you wanted pizza, I have been happy to send you some...It sure WAS good! Not sure if Jim will be watching any of the games today, he's just not into it any more...But, tonight, the Penguins are playing and we'll be watching that....Our Kevin and Cindy have tickets but Cindy hasn't been feeling well, so Kevin might have to find another "date"...What's bad, she's been looking forward to this for weeks....

Becca, As Mary said, sending much love your way...We need you back on both feet and feeling better....Next year is going to be a much better year, I have a feeling.....

Chickie, and there she goes, running again......Your DH sounds like Jim, just doesn't like the noise or the crowds...We've always gone to the neighbors for coffee, left over cookies and then a glass of wine and then back home by 9:30...Very few times have we seen the ball drop, l0l....I do wish Nick would go to school up here and you know darn well, he could bring me his laundry anytime (that is after I get my new washer, lol)...But, I think, he wants to hang on to some N. Carolina roots by going down there...But, that too could change....

Boy, I'll tell you, Mary is right when she says the troops keep me jumping....Shopping, exchanging, visiting......Today, I have a breather, the boys are meeting with their mother's sister for lunch...And then tonight, Terry's new friend has asked us all over for dinner...I have a feeling, we'll be doing our "neighbor thing" tomorrow night...But, this afternoon, is cleaning day and seeing what needs to be tossed from the fridg....The tree will either go today or tomorrow......

So for our dinner, I heard it's going to be pork, sauerkraut, kielbasa and Nick said, might even be a bottle of champagne being chilled.....But, there again, subject to change, depending on Jim.....Just know, we will be home and probably in bed, well before midnight......

Happy New Year everyone...I do have a good feeling about the next year, gonna be a good one!

EAGLE UPDATE:
We do have a baby! The new eaglet, which will be known as E9 hatched this morning about 7:30.....Poor little thing was worn out for all the hard work breaking through the shell but didn't take it long to let his parents know, he had arrived and expected to be fed!

I too agree, they should have names but the owners of the property said no....The owners are big time realtors in Ft. Myers, own acres and acres of prime property, put up the cameras and take care of the upkeep BUT, in my thinking, they don't own the birds, no one owns the birds and those who watch and also donate to helping with the upkeep should have a say whether they should be named or not....The owners have reaped a lot of business by having the nest on their property so it's been very beneficial for them.....Oh well, that's my opinion.....
But, we are so happy to have a new eaglet and now we wait and see if the other egg is viable.......

Good morning :) bills are paid and check book balanced. ... it's pretty flat but we have food and don't really need anything with all the extras I bought before the holidays. .. love sticking up on those good sales :) Later we'll be taking Christmas down and cleaning. All this talk of pizza made me want one for supper so think I'll make us one :)
Yay Mary, you rocked another comfort quilt top! You're awesome! Since posting pix of all that we've done this year we're getting good feedback and donations coming in, warms my heart.
Becca I'm so sorry about your brother.
Irish, you're such a party animal hehe
Chickie, enjoy your evening. I don't have the correct colors for this January's lotto and I seen to be way too short on time. ... we'll see how February turns out :)
We're party animals here too! We do always stay up and watch the ball fall and give new years smootches LOL
Enjoy your evening everyone! Hugs to you all!

Good afternoon!

So not the wild party people here. We will watch the football games - I OD on football this time of year. Michael is a football widow. LOL Dinner is out of the unknown recipe file. I have tons here in the house, just need to find something.

This is Aaron's last Saturday night shift. He bid on a set of different days off and got them. He will be a normal Monday - Friday shift, daytime. Kate is happy.

Irish- saw that the chick finally hatched. As to the name- M15, definitely sounds like a British spy- we should just start calling him James, James Bond! Maybe if enough of us use that name, it will stick.

Tina - we too got the damages posted from the Christmas shopping. Not too bad, not many choice words from Michael.

Well need to get going, dropping off the bulletins and getting my haircut.

Enjoy,
Jana

Happy New Year's Eve Everyone!
All of you have probably had dinner. Tonight we are having Pizza. We will be watching a movie, "The Secret Life of Pets", at home. We will probably not stay up past 10 pm because we will be going to 7 am Mass.

I am not addressing each of you today, because dinner is ready. I will do better tomorrow.

Carol
