SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Dec 27th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Dec 27, 2016 1:32 am

Good Morning!

We are cooler today. Which will be a relief. I'm just not used to 80* and 86% humidity - especially not for Christmas! At home, our humidity usually comes in the form of falling down drops!

After cleaning the trailer and storage bins underneath our trailer, I sewed the rest of the day. I finished piecing and putting together my Tennessee Waltz top. Now to go find some fabric for borders. I have a Quilt Shop, a Hobby Lobby, and a Joann's within an easy distance. Wish I knew what January lotto and next swap were going to be so I could shop for it all at the same time. I guess I'll be forced to make a second trip out to shop for fabric. Oh darn.

VELDA - sorry to hear you are still coughing. Just curious - did you have a flu shot this year? I am hearing that a 'bug' is going around that didn't get included in the shot this year so I am trying to take my own personal poll as I know so many folks who have been pretty sick.

IRISH - sounds like a wild time at your house! So happy that Jim tolerated it so well. And what did you settle for? new undies or a new washer?

JANA - even in our trailer with no company, I felt like I had lost control over our little traveling home. We still have our little tree up, but there were gifts, boxes, and clutter everywhere. Things are finally coming around to 'normal' again. I can imagine how you are feeling in your big house with all the family there!

CHICKIE - sounds like your lasagna was a hit! Also that rum punch . . . Any eggnog there? Rum is good in that, too. Especially spiced rum. Not that I drink it, of course. But I've heard things . . .

BECCA - thinking of you every day.

TINA - with all your family being there, and all the cooking and cleaning that comes with, I'm sure you're still zonked out in a corner somewhere.

CALIFORNIA CAROL - My middle brother now has stents like yours. He will have them a few more weeks, I think. I thought of you as soon as he told me.

CAROLE with an E - how is South Carolina going? How is your brother doing? Will you travel back to FL with him or are you heading for home?

The plan is to go shopping today - unless something else pops up. So I can't say for sure what supper will be, but we're leaning towards tacos or some other Mexican dish. Maybe chili rellenos? I have chilies, thanks to Tina stocking us up.

Any good supper ideas rolling around in your head yet?

We are cooler here as well. The frost was thick on the windshield when I went out and scraped it. I needed to see to go let Choc out this morning. I’m sure DH appreciated having his car all warm and toasty with a clean windshield so he could go for coffee.

Welcome to the center of the country where you can cut the humidity with a knife! I can be over 90 percent without raining. Aaaak! When it’s hot… triple aaaak!

Mary—you are in a quilter’s paradise with all the shops nearby! Lucky you!!! Love the TW quilt. I think Scottie needs a HST quilt—at the very least, Foxy needs one.

Vel—sorry you’ve had the bug, too. I never got the flu, just kind of, sort of a cold that never really came on… just felt miserable. It just won’t leave, either. I’m not sick—just not 100% feeling great.

No egg nog here. I think we’ve had it before, but it’s usually a fruit punch that’s the traditional slurpy at the Christmas dinner.

Irish—I vote for new undies to wash in your new washer!

Carol-Q7—I always enjoy the day after Christmas for resting up, too. Keep resting and healing!

Today I’ll be seeing all my grand and great grand dogs. My sister, nephew and great nephew may be out to do some target shooting today. My nephew and his son are visiting with Wisconsin, and my sister is here from Arkansas. The Florida hunter and family are also here and want to get together again. He hunted last night in the back area. I can’t believe how busy we are! LOL!!! I think it’s our land that’s in demand, not us.

Dinner here—steak for DH with baked sweet potato and whatever else I can drum up… salad. We have desserts—pineapple upside down cake, cheesecake, vanilla cake, peanut butter balls… I think I’ll have a baked sweet potato… maybe some soup—spicy, of course!

Bon appétit!

Good early afternoon from sunny but chilly, SW. Pa....Yesterday was just sweat shirt weather, today, heavy sweat shirt weather and tomorrow, I guess a coat, lol.......

Oh Mary, there you are busy as ever but it's seems like a good busy...And you have to go shopping, gee that's too bad.....
Well, you'll be happy to know, the washer has been ordered BUT won't get here until next Wed. SO, it still might be new undies as well....Although I did have a friend returning things at VS yesterday and she did ask if I wanted anything....You know, they don't really sell "granny" undies, so disappointed! I've also "heard" rum is good in egg nog, not that I would know from experience...

Chickie, my heavens, it sounds like you are really having fun, non stop excitement....I always think it would be nice to space out all those visitors, through out the year....It seems, here they all are and then gone and such a let down, or at least for me.....

Vel, sorry to hear you're under the weather....Just talking to the fellow we always met for Sunday breakfast and he's had his cough for 3 weeks and I'm sure he had a flu shot....Jim and I each had our's so hopefully the bug will keep it's distance...Sure hope you get to feeling better real soon and able to enjoy those winter months in the south.....

Oh Becca, been thinking of you and praying you are getting peace....Never, ever easy loosing someone close but just know, he'll always be with you and hold all those good memories, real close....

Well, yesterday was an expensive day but the washer is ordered....We have this thing, 1 of our grocery stores offer gas perks for each dollar you spend...SO, 1st stop was there buying $500.in gift cards for Home Depot and then off to find a bargain, lol....Nick was really a big help, kept comparing and then we decided....He was so funny when he said, "Gram, see if you can reach the whole way to the bottom without falling in"...That was the deciding point.....And then he did his shopping for his pizza he's making tomorrow...At home, he works in a pizza shop and most times he's in charge of the line...For only being 17, he is something!

Today, we might go to my sisters for a short visit...I had made her one of those attic window/panel hangings and need to deliver....Other than that, just trying to keep the house "redd up".....

I'm thinking for dinner, more ham, au gratin potatoes and the green bean casserole...Still have hundreds of cookies and a couple of pieces of the Red devils food cake for afters............I am loving this cooking and these boys sure can eat.........

Happy eating..............

Eagle Update:
The Ft. Myers nest is officially on PIP watch....If the 1st egg is viable, it's time....If it doesn't hatch, then in another day or so, the 2nd egg will be ready....Such an "egg"citing time in the nest...Lots of adopted grandparents pacing.....

Good Morning!

Very quiet around here - Nice! My main sewing machine started making a weird sound, so it's off to the spa for a good treatment. It's my embroidery machine, so it goes in once a year. I need it back, as my new set of Activity Day girls start in the middle of January. I think I have 6 this next year.

Dinner - will break out a cookbook and look up something with chicken.

No new Gracie or Ethan stories.

Enjoy,
Jana
