SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Christmas Eve Eve! Dec 23
Posted: Fri Dec 23, 2016 1:00 am
Good Morning!
I think I was sleepy yesterday morning when I posted. I have now vowed to always have at least one cup of coffee before posting from now on! But you all found Supper Club anyway! The day before I'd messed up and posted in the Sew-in section and had to fix that. Our darn dog wants out every morning between 4:30 and 5:00. So we are up for the day after that. It's a groggy time.
Yesterday was all about sewing for me. I'd run short of my fabric and needed enough for just 4 more 2" squares to make 4-patches for my Tennessee Waltz Quilt. So a few days ago I found a fabric that I thought was very similiar, sewed those 4-patches into my blocks and all was good. Then, as I finished my last block, I realized I'd counted wrong and didn't need the 'stand in' fabric after all. So I frogged them out to replace them with my the correct 4P's, but promptly sewed the wrong ones back in again!! So I had to refrog. Then I got a text from a home friend. This is a wedding quilt I'm working on. There was no 'official' engagement, but my friend, Marilyn, the prospective bride, was pretty certain there would be one soon. But my texting friend, Pat, told me Marilyn got tired of waiting after 3 years and proposed to him! And he never gave her an answer. Uh-oh. I'm hoping either he was planning a more grand proposal scene for Christmas or NYE (her birthday), or he just needs a little time to let the idea grow on him. But the good news is, the wedding quilt is coming along nicely!
Today is the day we have to fold up the trailer, hitch up, and take it up to the dump station to empty the waste tanks. We watch Christmas Vacation every year, sometimes twice, and I found a tee shirt for Bill with the scene screened onto it of Cousin Eddie dumping his waste tanks into the storm sewer, clad in boxers, robe, smoking a cigar, and holding a beer. Too funny! So Bill says going to wear it today.
TiNA - so glad to hear your mom is looking so well! Let's pray it lasts! Chickie is right! You are SUPER QUILTER! and I would add SUPER MOM, SUPER GRANDMOM, SUPER DAUGHTER, AND SUPER FRIEND! I hope your holidays are joyful with all your usual suspects gathered around the table!
BECCA - when are the twins due? I'm thinking you mentioned May at one time. Am I close? Have you made any decisions about quilts for them yet? I am excited for you!
CHICKIE - how are you today? How great that you were able to resurrect those cast iron pans! I would have loved to have had my mom's. They were older than I am. But somehow they disappeared when an in-law family member cleaned out my parents' house without telling me.
IRISH - did everyone arrive safely? Are they staying with you or with other family? I hope it doesn't upset Jim too much and you can wring every last iota of joy possible from their visit!
JANA - nice save on that fabric! I was going through my mind thinking how to punt this problem. Panels with wide ribbon? A shorter overskirt?
CAROL - How did your appointment go? I hope you are done with most of the work that goes into holiday preparation and can sit back and relax and enjoy now.
Supper tonite will be, I think, pesto pasta. I have fresh basil to use up and I'll add some little tomatoes that need eating, too. And a salad on the side.
What plans do you all have for Christmas Eve and Day?
