Good Morning!

We are really closing in on December! I am seeing lights and trees everywhere now! I will miss cutting a big tree and putting it up this year, but will happily trade that for some sunshine and some Autumn-time! and we have a 3' fiberoptic tree we'll take with us. We are planning to leave here day after tomorrow, though we may delay until the next day. We still have lots to do and Wed is supposed to be a nasty weather day while Thurs will be dry and partly sunny.

CHICKIE - When your SIL asked 'where is Christmas dinner going to be?' you should have responded "YOUR HOUSE!" And then showed up early, put your feet up, and relaxed! Glad you and the Hooligans got in some fresh air and walking time! Refreshes the soul! As for Hospice, for my brother, they provided medicines and equipment, like the hospital bed. An aide came twice a week to help give him a bed bath, and the nurse dropped by once a week to check on him and had a mini-care conference with my SIL and any family who happened to be there. But other than that, all care was done by my SIL or family.

BECCA - we are so happy that your brother's comfort quilt arrived and is now in his possession! We were worried it had been stolen off his front porch. Hugs to him and to you. I hope your rain tomorrow happens and in a big way!

TINA - you and your brothers - make sure you are a united front! - may have to take the bull by the stubborn horns and give your folks a moving date. Or perhaps you could give them a Christmas gift of a few days vacation someplace and have the house moved while they are gone. I suspect if left to your mom it will never happen. It can be too overwhelming to older folks. Change is hard, especially when you don't feel well.

IRiSH - your house will be quiet by now. Here, it's a relief to finally have everyone gone. Not that we weren't more than happy to have them all here!! Even all the dogs! But after 3 months it's nice to finally be alone again. I wonder if your Terry could negotiate a better wage if he were to take the job. And how does cost of living compare? when Autumn left CA for TX, she took home $400 less a month, but was way ahead financially because the COL is so much cheaper in TX than in CA.

JANA - OK, it's tomorrow! Now let's hear - 'the rest of the story'. What happened in your kitchen??

Yesterday I finished the laundry and packed most of the clothes I am taking. Bill insists on packing his own, something that has often led to some serious wardrobe malfunctions - like no pants, or no coat, or no shoes. The list goes on. But enough about him! lol! I also cruised the pantries and got the trailer stocked with all the non-perishables. I went through my Christmas clothes (yes, I have two totes full of Christmas clothing - even undies!) and chose my favorites to take along. Today will be clean the fridge, bind the queen quilt we are taking along, and try stowing all the extra stuff we are hauling to autumn and to Tina. Thank goodness our new trailer has more storage for this kind of thing than the old trailer!

Supper tonite will probably be a scramble - I have extra white potatoes already cooked, bits of ham left, onion, peppers, and eggs. I will chop everything this morning and have it ready to plop into the frying pan tonite. And maybe some salad to go with - at least sliced tomatoes.

What's going on your plate tonite?

Good morning! We looked out and saw four deer walking along the edge of the far side of the pond. I never tire of the view here!

Yesterday was so gloomy and cold, then the wind whistled around the house last night. Sometimes it sounded like it was beating the walls. No rain… just bluster. The pond is down a lot. We’ll be o.k.; the other ponds are in good shape.

Mary—that’s the way the in-home hospice works here, too. My friend that I have coffee with on the weekends she’s available was one of his “bath ladies”. They furnished all meds that were comfort related. They also furnished the hospital bed and Hoyer lift. The nurse came by to help me with the bedsore a couple of times a week, but the rest of the time, I cleaned and re-bandaged it twice a day and took care of all the other stuff—pic line, stoma, cath, feeding tube (meds). I think I could almost do an LPN exam after all I did. The only time I was out of the house for 5 months was to walk outside to get the mail. I worked from home, and my DD picked up materials and brought them to me. She worked across campus. I did a LOT of work by telecommuting as well. I was trying to get in all the hours I could so I didn’t lose my job. HR was NOT happy! Thankfully, my boss cared enough…

I don’t think we’d be invited to the 5 bedroom museum (all their mother’s things she carried off.) Look but do not touch.

Becca—we were sweating bullets with your DB’s quilt, and it’s not even warm here!!! So, so very glad it arrived and is wrapping him in a big hug! I really hope you get rain!!!

Tina—good luck with the moving. Mary has an excellent suggestion that your brothers and you pitch in and do it for them. When they are not feeling well and probably depressed somewhat as well… it won’t happen. Has Kevin heard anything yet?

Irish—you ARE going to the PO today!!! Your box will be overstuffed! I do hope Terry can move closer!

Jana—when did you get to put your feet up and relax?

Mary—your packing is so funny! I know about the DH arriving with no undies or whatever because, “I’d rather do it myself!”

My soup was delicious last night and will be for several nights. The barley and wild rice swelled and swelled and swelled. It made a full, big crock pot. DH really liked it and didn’t even ask about the mystery meat (ground turkey). I think he was really hungry as a couple of customers came for firewood yesterday and he cut some in the nasty weather. It spit just enough raindrops to get him wet, so I was doing more laundry when he returned.

Tonight will be more of the soup, and one of us will finish off the Hamburger Helper stroganoff. I really should make some dessert. DH has resorted to animal crackers with cake frosting… but he likes them, and as long as the cookies and frosting holds out… I might have a vanilla cake in the freezer; he’d really like that!

Bon appétit!

Good morning :)
Yay Mary, it's like Christmas coming early with you coming for a visit :) I feel that way every time you come visit!
Chickie, we had that wind too but we did get some rain with it, it's kinda cold this morning.
Irish, not going to the P.O. that long you might need a wheelbarrow LOL

Hahaha you all don't know my mother, she'd kill me if I touched anything without her hovering over me making sure I did it just so so. But I don't have to worry about that, she made it very clear that she doesn't want any help, doesn't need any help and they can do every thing by themselves! She didn't use to be this way especially to me when it came to me helping with anything in the house but she's really changed and it makes me really miss my mom so much. ... I'm not sure who this person is lately. ... crying.
Supper tonight is my leftover soup.
Tina

Here Everyone,Still smokey but we're hoping the rain gets here soon. They are saying hi winds too,

Maryz Bills packing reminded me of our Vacation years ago.I have never packed for DH.He had one pair of shoes & flip flops. We took a hike & got caught in a. Down pour far away from starting point. He had to wear flip flops until the others dried.lol
You were sweating bullets.I was praying for God to be in control.I too knew anything could happen so I started praying.I was sure thankful when I got the message. My niece that visited yesterday said she would watch for it but when Bridget told me it was there I was relieved. Thanks again for all you did.

Chickie I too was really concerned but after I prayed I had peace that God would watch over it.It was a big relief for all of us.Love your descriptions of the Farm.We will be so happy to see our beautiful views again when the rains come to clear the air.
I too would tell DSIL Your place.Only fair she has her turn.

Tina I too had the same thoughts that Mom & dad were staying put.Maybe someone can nudge them gently. Thanks for all you did for my family.Your burden is heavy.Praying
Kevin gets the right job.

Irish I too was wondering if Terry was applying for teaching.Praying he gets the right one.I don't know about your COL up there.

Jana I too am in suspense.??

We have leftover grilled chicken breast.I plan to do chicken salad.Have cranberry relish
& will add a veggie. They finished the pumpkin pie DD brought. We don't need dessert.

Good morning!

Here is the story,

I was working getting everything prepped. I had just finished the lemon meringue pie and was cleaning uo making sure that i would not cross contaminate with my niece's food allergies. Went to the sink and peeled part of the potatoes with a new peeler - i hate it - and ran the peelings down the disposal. They went fine, so i thought, then did another batch of peelings, and ran them. Well i plugged the disposer up good. Standing water in the sink snd it was about 20 minutes before church. Michael was dressed in his suit, ready to leave, when i told him the sink was plugged. No staying home from church as we had assignments there. So after the first part of the meeting wss over, he came home and disassembled the plumbling under that side of the sink. Yup, my peelings had plugged it up and lucky for me, he was able to clear it . Paper plates would have been the china for dinner, as we had 20 coming to eat. So all jight long i was teased by all the kids and Michael about each of them telling me never put potato peelings through the disposer. So by my experience, you are now warned, don't put potato peelings fown the disposer, when you least want, it will plug up!

Dinner cane out perfectly and today is the first that i can put my feet up!

Leftovers here, not many, but enough for our dinner.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from dreary, chilly but very sunny (on the inside), Sw. Pa.....

OH MY YOU GALS! We did go to the PO and yep, it was loaded....Loaded with the best kind of mail in the world....How can we ever thank you all for the gorgeous quilt for Jim.....I don't think he quite gets the whole QOV thing but each time he looks at it, he'll say, how pretty and then when he sees the label, he'll say, It's really for me! He has it right beside his recliner just waiting to wrap up in it.....I just can't, could never thank you enough....Just seeing the look on Jim's face was priceless.......

I can't even think of dinner.....It might be hit or miss or we might pick up something on the run when we go to feed Dan's fur kids.....

Happy eating and huge, huge thank you.......
