SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Nov 26

Good rainy morning! We have ducks swimming on the back lawn so I guess that says it all. They will probably be there now until spring.
Yesterday we finished splitting/stacking all that wood! Yahoo!! That didn't take long, did it? We were almost finished when poor Bill got his finger caught in the splitter. OUCH! He's got a good gouge in it and it will probably be black/blue soon. But I didn't think it needed stitches, so he just got a big bandage and a boo boo kiss.
Sis and BIL leave today after we all go to breakfast at local restaurant with Terry. Except for a few weeks in October, this will be the first time we've been without extra folks here since end of August. I'm not sure Bill and I will know what to do with ourselves!
CHICKIE - your noodles sound like my mom's. I remember her measuring with egg shells, rolling out the dough, cutting the noodles, and draping them on newspapers over the back of the couch to dry. I make them the same way only I use a recipe from my old Betty Crocker cookbook. Yummy!
CAROL - your gravy 'recipe' sounds good. I love cooking with a bit of wine in sauces and gravies. And usually people comment on it. (in a good way! Not the 'usual' way. ;o] )
JANA - we grew up with a single milk cow. We drank raw milk and I remember the cream would rise to the top overnight in the fridge. It was so thick, my dad would pick it up and lay it over his hot mush in the morning! Mom made homemade butter a lot, too. and we had a lot of custard to use up the milk. I bet it will be nice to get all the extra stuff out of your house!
IRISH - happy Thanksgiving to you and Jim! Hope you are able to see Jackie. I promise I won't root against your Penguins. I assume they might be hockey? . . . I'm not even sure if there is a hockey team here. lol!!
HELEN - nice to have you join us at the table! Always nice to have a good cook in the family!
BECCA - My mom's yeast rolls were famous and I CAN make them, but I rarely do. I started using Rhodes frozen dinner rolls. and my brothers tell me "my" rolls taste just like mom's. I don't tell them my secret. I made them again for TG and my culinary-student-grandson and asked for my recipe.
I guess for our supper tonite we'll finish off the TG leftovers. tomorrow, we'll be looking for new food. Trying to empty the freezer so I guess we'll be eating the biggest food in there, whatever that may be.
How's the plan coming together at your house?
