SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Nov 5th

Happy Birthday, Chickie's Mom!
Happy Birthday, Mary Q!
Happy Birthday, Betsy! (my sweet friend who had double lung transplant 4 years ago.)

We are having a chilly, rainy day to celebrate all the birthdays. Ugh! We just don't need rain right now. We've just finished our wettest october on record. We have so many folks coming and going at Jim's house so there is always a campfire going outside. But now it will be a quagmire out there.

I am up extra early. Autumn has to fly home today on an EARLY flight and my younger sis and BIL are going home, too. DB Gene went yesterday. But another niece and nephew flew in from CO yesterday. They aren't staying with us though. We'll be down to older sis and BIL in their own RV.

Jim has seen everyone now. He drifts in/out. Last night my nephew started up one of Jim's bulldozers and brought it across the yard to outside the windows. They turned Jim's bed so he could see, and my nephew did a 10-minute 'dozer dance' for him to watch - turning, raising/lowering the bucket, a bit of back-blading, dirt pushing, etc. The door was open so he could hear the engine and smell the smell of the machine. We think he really enjoyed that. However - it finally hit me when I saw Jim's cat on the move. That part wasn't so much fun. ;o(

CAROL - OMG! We didn't know you were so sick! I'm so sorry! Take it easy. If I could, I'd see that you had meals so you could rest. I'd have JANA deliver a big pot of soup, CHICKIE would bring a casserole, BECCA some fresh veggies from her garden, and IRISH, of course, would be on dessert detail! I would bring the wine because these girls will be thirsty after their trips! Seriously, though, rest as much as you can. I've had pneumonia (in 1977) and it ain't so much fun as one would think. I will never forget that sick!

CHICKIE - the little come & go for your mom's birthday sounds nice. Please give her a special happy birthday wish and a hug from me! And I think your idea of a bigger sewing room/B&B room has merit! More merit than many ideas people invest in! I think you should go for it!

BECCA - I am SO sorry about your tooth. I think CAROL should share some of JANA's soup with you. I hope you can get it repaired soon and as painlessly as possible. Ouch!

CAROLE with an E - did you get your new infusion yet? How did it go? Sure hoping that it brings you relief. and that you tolerate it well.

TINA - I know you're busy at your end. When you get time, we want an update on the babies and the parents! And you, of course!

Tonite - I think we'll either grill some burgers and heat some frozen french fries as it will be just us and my DS & BIL (Al & Tina) or I might try some of Jana's enchilada soup. They are fans of anything Mexican. It's a wet and gloomy day here. I'd make homemade chili but they just had it at my DB's. My sis - MY OWN SISTER - would be happy if we had tuna fish sandwiches. Gacck!!

What's the aroma drifting from your kitchen tonite?

Good Morning Everyone!
Thank you for the well wishes and the cyber meal. Honestly, though tonight's dinner will be stuffed pepper casserole. Rice has been very good to eat so I am looking forward to the casserole. So glad I have food in the freezer. While I was in the hospital I was telling my DH what he could get from the freezer to eat. He discovered I had 4 containers of Pumpkin Ice Cream. We both love it so now he feels guilty for eating one of them. He was so attentive he deserved the treat!

Maryz - Jim has been surrounded by the love of family. His son's tractor ride must have given him great pleasure, even if the cat didn't like it. His son also has the pleasure of knowing he gave it to him. Prayers are with your family.

Becca - I am really hoping Mary's rain comes south! We are still in severe drought conditions in CA. Only 12% is getting adequate rain. Prayers for your DB!

Take care everyone and have a wonderful day!
Carol

Good early afternoon from a very sunny, but still chilly, SW. Pa...It's only to be in the low 60s (if it makes it that high) but we're to have sun for about 4 days.....Amazing how that sun puts that spring in your toes or at least makes you want to get up and move, if the joints cooperate......

Mary, one of these days, you're going to catch up with yourself in your coming and going...I don't know how you keep going...Sorry DD had to leave so soon but it's always a blessing to see them....What a neat thing for Jim's son to do for his Dad...Your family really is special...

Carol, without the e, my heavens, you really are having a bad time....And you know, we would all love to come and help out...We might need a few bottles of Mary's wine if we all get together but just think, even if we don't cure you, it will take your mind off being sick.....Hope you get your strength back and feeling up to par, quickly.....

Becca, and you with a bad tooth, yikes! I think I'm with you with the not eating when you feel sick..I just want to rest...I know what you mean about trying to carry on a conversation and I do, in a way, dread the upcoming holidays....Just me getting a phone call throws him in a tizzy...Just this morning, Terry called from N.C. and afterwards, Jim was just sure, Terry was stopping by....I really have to watch and not say too much because he does get things mixed up and is really confused...what do they say about the "golden years"????lol....Sure hope you can get that tooth taken care of real soon....

Carole, with an e, I was also wondering about your infusion...I didn't realize it took so long but if it works, it's sure is worth it....My ex DIL gets infusions for her MS but I don't think it takes her that long and she goes every month...I do remember when our Chris went for dialysis, they made sure he had everything and anything he needed to be comfortable....Hopefully, some day soon, we'll have a cure for all these terrible things..........

Well, today is going to be a good day, I can feel it! I did start the Action Figure quilt, have 2 blocks done and only 40 more to do...But, it's an easy sewing block, but of course just takes time....So, after the uglies are finished, I'll be keeping company with my sewing machine (that is, if Jim cooperates)....With it being a nice day outside, I should be out taking care of the leaves but I'm hoping, a few gusts of wind comes along and off they go to the neighbors....My quilt is more important than those leaves......

For our dinner, I'm thinking, could be the 1/2 of pizza I have in the freezer or, I got some fingerlink potatoes (I think that's what they're called) and I might make a scrambler....We also have tons of apples (from the farm) and I really should make a pie.....

Just let me know when the bus is leaving for Carol's (without the e), I'll make something good.....

Happy eating..............

Eagle update: we've had a lot of hanky panky going on in the nest and it sure looks promising...After mating, it takes up to 10 days for an egg but right now, it's anyone's guess...The nest is ready and so are we......

The other afternoon, a juvie visited the nest and sat next to the male adult (M15)...We're thinking it was one of the eaglets from the last season, just stopping by for a chat...And because there were no eggs or eaglets in the nest, he wasn't considered a threat....Another month or so, that could be a problem.....

When watching these eagles work together, planning for the future, just makes me think, why can't humans do the same and not have all this conflict that's going on in the world.....

Good afternoon! This morning I fixed brunch for DH and I along with Mike and Matt from Florida after they hunted this morning. Menu was Dutch baby pancakes with maple sausage and apples (inside). They were yummy! Tomorrow I’ll be serving biscuits and gravy. I’m working on the hunters to encourage DH to build my quilting studio/B&B for hunters—LOL!!! The guys are ALL for it!

Mom had a nice day yesterday. She was tired but happy. My DD and her family came over then out to the farm. We went up to the corner for burgers before they went home. My sister made burnt sugar cake like my grandma used to make for Mom’s and my birthdays. It was a big hit.

Carol—that’s quite an ordeal!!! So glad you are on the mend now. I agree, we’d all bring food! And wine! Be sure to keep drinking lots of fluids even when you don’t feel like it. Glad you have the casserole… and the ice cream! So cute of your DH to worry about eating a container while you were in the hospital.

Mary—so sorry Autumn has to leave so soon! Seems like she just arrived. I know everyone is glad to have made their respective trips.

Irish—I love the sun, too. It can be the same temperature on different days, but the sunny ones seem so much warmer and happier. The leaves are winter protection. Have fun with your quilt. I hope Jim gives you peace and has a great day himself. That’s so interesting about the eagles…

Becca—for weeks years ago I nursed what I thought was toothaches both sides, all over, sometimes one side then the other… I’d never been so sick. Finally, I went to the dentist—an emergency, Saturday afternoon appointment. I begged him to pull everything. He did x-rays, tests, and everything else he could do and wouldn’t pull my teeth. He sent me to a doctor for sinus infections. I went to two different doctors plus the ENT specialists in Springfield, MO. Rounds of antibiotics, lots of pain med scripts… nothing helped but the pain meds… I did facial saunas over steaming hot water and vaporizers… Finally, we changed jobs and moved from the town… No more intense problems. Crazy!!! I wondered if it was formaldehyde in the paneling of the house and/or in the manufacturing process at the company where I worked. I get some sinus headaches and allergy symptoms now, but NOTHING like what I had for the year I lived in Bolivar. I thought I was going to die and wanted to because it would give me relief. That all said… has anything changed for you environmentally? Consider allergies… I’m so sorry about your DB. HUGS!

Dinner tonight is kind of Jana’s enchilada soup… most of the ingredients are in it and maybe a couple more. I just threw stuff that I like in the crock pot. Maybe I’ll make DH a blackberry cobbler to go with it… It might take his mind off of chicken (not beef) and soup (not solid).

Enjoy!
